From wise humanising creativity to (post-humanising) creativity

date can only go so far in addressing the rapid, unpredictable changes inherent in the
21st century and the accompanying policy and practice challenges we face. The
chapter shifts away from conceptualisation such as ‘wise humanising creativity’ and
proposes a different articulation of creativity which may allow us to think about and
action creativity to meet these challenges. This (post-humanising) creativity
overcomes problems of humanistic conceptualisations as it allows for a full range of
‘players’ within the creative process, it incorporates a different, emergent take on
ethics and is willing to see the future too as emergent, rather than always ‘to-bedesigned’.
The chapter culminates by offering examples of (post-humanising)
creativity in action, aiming to bring alive how it can address our policy and practice

Aggregate spillovers magnify the welfare benefits of tax reform
Relatively small degrees of aggregate increasing returns to scale substantially magnify both welfare benefits and income effects associated with tax reform. External returns to scale of 10 per cent increase the welfare benefits of tax reform by roughly one-third and increase changes in income by significantly more than a model characterized by constant returns to scale. Aggregate spillovers of 20 per cent increase welfare benefits by roughly three-fourths. Aggregate spillovers significantly reduce tax revenue-maximizing capital tax rates. This research convincingly demonstrates the importance of precisely identifying the degree of aggregate returns to scale before the benefits of tax reform can be accurately assessed.
Allele-specific methylation of type 1 diabetes susceptibility genes
The susceptibility to autoimmune diseases is influenced by genes encoding major histocompatibility complex (MHC) proteins. By examining the epigenetic methylation maps of cord blood samples, we found marked differences in the methylation status of CpG sites within the MHC genes (cis-metQTLs) between carriers of the type 1 diabetes risk haplotypes HLA-DRB1*03-DQA1*0501-DQB1*0201 (DR3-DQ2) and HLA-DRB1*04-DQA1*0301-DQB1*0302 (DR4-DQ8). These differences were found in children and adults, and were accompanied by reduced HLA-DR protein expression in immune cells with the HLA-DR3-DQ2 haplotype. Extensive cis-metQTLs were identified in all 45 immune and non-immune type 1 diabetes susceptibility genes analyzed in this study. We observed and validated a novel association between the methylation status of CpG sites within the LDHC gene and the development of insulin autoantibodies in early childhood in children who are carriers of the highest type 1 diabetes risk genotype. Functionally relevant epigenetic changes in susceptibility genes may represent therapeutic targets for type 1 diabetes

Linking clinical phenotypes of chronic lung allograft dysfunction to changes in lung structure
Chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD) remains the major barrier to long-term success after lung transplantation. This report compares gross and microscopic features of lungs removed from patients receiving a redo-transplant as treatment for CLAD. Lungs donated by patients with either the bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome (BOS) or restrictive allograft syndrome (RAS) phenotype of CLAD and appropriate control lungs (eight per group) were airinflated, frozen solid and kept frozen while a multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT) was obtained. The lung was then cut into 2-cm thick transverse slices and sampled for micro-CT and histopathology. The MDCT showed reduced lung volume with increased lung weight and density in RAS versus BOS and control (p<0.05). Although pre-terminal bronchioles were obstructed in both phenotypes, RAS lungs showed a reduction of pre-terminal bronchioles (p<0.01). Micro-CT and matched histopathology showed that RAS was associated with reduced numbers of terminal bronchioles/lung compared to BOS and controls (p<0.01), with expansion of the interstitial compartment and obliteration of the alveolar airspaces by fibrous connective tissue. RAS is associated with greater destruction of both pre-terminal and terminal bronchioles. Additionally, the interstitial compartments are expanded and alveolar airspaces are obliterated by accumulation of fibrous connective tissue.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
