Finitely Generated Nil but Not Nilpotent Evolution Algebra

To use evolution algebras to model population dynamics that both allow extinction and introduction of certain gametes in finite generations, nilpotency must be built into the algebraic structures of these algebras with the entire algebras not to be nilpotent if the populations are assumed to evolve for a long period of time. To adequately address this need, evolution algebras over rings with nilpotent elements must be considered instead of evolution algebras over fields. This paper develops some criteria, which are computational in nature, about the nilpotency of these algebras, and shows how to construct finitely generated evolution algebras which are nil but not nilpotent

Design of Dual-band Branch-Line Coupler Based on Shunt Open-Circuit DCRLH Cells

In this article, the shunt open-circuit dual composite right/left-handed (DCRLH) cell is initially proposed and one dual-band branch-line coupler based on the proposed cells is designed. It is found that, compared with DCRLH cell, the frequency selectivity, matching condition and adjustment range of the shunt open-circuit DCRLH cell improve greatly. Moreover, the shunt open-circuit DCRLH cell exhibits two adjustable frequency points with -90degrees phase shift within its first two passbands. In order to explore this exotic property effectively, the influence of the primary geometrical parameter is investigated through parametric analysis. Thus, one dual-band branch-line coupler based on the shunt open-circuit DCRLH cells is designed. Both simulated and measured results indicate that comparative performance is achieved. Different from part of previous dual-band branch line couplers, for the proposed coupler, the signs of phase difference of two output ports within the two operating frequency bands are identical with each other. This branch-line coupler is quite suitable for the application which is sensitive to the variation of phase difference and its effective area is compact

Jointly Modeling Topics and Intents with Global Order Structure

Modeling document structure is of great importance for discourse analysis and related applications. The goal of this research is to capture the document intent structure by modeling documents as a mixture of topic words and rhetorical words. While the topics are relatively unchanged through one document, the rhetorical functions of sentences usually change following certain orders in discourse. We propose GMM-LDA, a topic modeling based Bayesian unsupervised model, to analyze the document intent structure cooperated with order information. Our model is flexible that has the ability to combine the annotations and do supervised learning. Additionally, entropic regularization can be introduced to model the significant divergence between topics and intents. We perform experiments in both unsupervised and supervised settings, results show the superiority of our model over several state-of-the-art baselines.Comment: Accepted by AAAI 201

Intermediate-pressure phases of cerium studied by an LDA + Gutzwiller method

The thermodynamic stable phase of cerium metal in the intermediate pressure regime (5.0--13.0 GPa) is studied in detail by the newly developed local-density approximation (LDA)+ Gutzwiller method, which can include the strong correlation effect among the 4\textit{f} electrons in cerium metal properly. Our numerical results show that the α"\alpha" phase, which has the distorted body-centered-tetragonal structure, is the thermodynamic stable phase in the intermediate pressure regime and all the other phases including the α′\alpha' phase (α\alpha-U structure), α\alpha phase (fcc structure), and bct phases are either metastable or unstable. Our results are quite consistent with the most recent experimental data.Comment: 17 pages, 7 figure
