Statistical Properties of Height of Japanese Schoolchildren

We study height distributions of Japanese schoolchildren based on the statictical data which are obtained from the school health survey by the ministry of education, culture, sports, science and technology, Japan . From our analysis, it has been clarified that the distribution of height changes from the lognormal distribution to the normal distribution in the periods of puberty.Comment: 2 pages, 2 figures, submitted to J. Phys. Soc. Jpn.; resubmitted to J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. after some revisio

The Notice given in 2008 by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology required each school to re-examine school regulations and to interpret and apply school disciplinary rules properly. This paper reports how school disciplinary rules have changed and the present conditions of them as a result of our research mainly according to the data from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and also reports some examples of them in a few senior high schools and universities

One-way electromagnetic Tamm states in magnetophotonic structures

We study surface Tamm states in magnetophotonic structures magnetized in the Cotton–Mouton (Voigt) geometry. We demonstrate that the periodicity violation due to the structure truncation together with the violation of the time reversal symmetry due to the presence of magneto-optical materials gives rise to nonreciprocality of the surface modes. Dispersion of forward and backward modes splits and becomes magnetization dependent. This results in the magnetization-induced transitions between bulk and surface modes and unidirectional propagation of surface waves. We thank the Australian Research Council for a financial support and S. Fan for useful discussions.
