A study on the corrosive inhibition ability of CT3 steel in 1 M HCl solution by caffeine and some characteristics of the inhibition process
Caffeine was isolated from dry green tea leaves and used as corrosion inhibitor. The aim of this paper is to study the corrosion inhibition behavior of caffeine with its different concentrations (from 0.01 g/L to 3.00 g/L) for CT3 steel in 1M HCl solution by the curve polarization measurements and surface examination studies. Experiment result showed that: as the concentration of caffeine increases, the inhibition efficiency increases; %IE max is approximately 83.27% at concentration of caffeine 3.00 g/L. The experimental data from all measurements was found to fit well with the Langmuir caffeine adsorption isotherm. Calculated values of free energy of adsorption DGads are -14.71 kJ/mol. It shown that, the adsorption is spontaneous and consistent with the mechanism of physical adsorption. It showed that, the adsorption is spontaneous and consistent with the mechanism of physical adsorption. As temperature increase from 298 to 318 K, the inhibition efficiency is relatively stable: decrease slightly from 83.27 % down 78.50 %. Calculated values of the heat of adsorption DHads are ranged from -6.38 kJ/mol to -19.89 kJ/mol, indicating that the adsorption of caffeine on the surface of CT3 steel is exothermic. The increasing of activation energy in corrosion process which presents caffeine 3.00 g/L compared to absent caffeine proved that caffeine have corrosion occurred more difficult
Growth and development of transgenic peanut (Arachis hypogaea) lines containing chitinase 42 kDa gene from Trichoderma asperellum SH16
Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is vulnerable to many diseases. Vietnam and other regions where peanut is widely cultivated have a high threat of fungal and other plant diseases. Various fungicides are available to control the fungal disease but these have various harmful effects on the natural flora, fauna, and environment. Transgenic peanut lines which possess antifungal activity provide a possible solution in managing fungal diseases apart from the traditional resistance and fungicide usage. Therefore, this study evaluated the probable growth and development of chitinase transgenic peanut lines against Sclerotium rolfsii, a pathogen that causes “southern blight” in plants, under greenhouse conditions. This study provided evidence that through Agrobacterium itumefaciens mediated transformation, 42 kDa chitinase genes from Trichoderma asperellum, which is under the regulation of 35S promoter, were successfully incorporated into the peanut’s (A. hypogaea L.) genome and expressed in their plants. This evidence also demonstrated that transgenic peanut lines were suitable for growing and developing in the greenhouse. Further, it was reported that transgenic peanut lines took approximately 133 to 145 days from planting to maturity. These results also revealed that various growth characteristics of transgenic peanut lines having two synthetic genes (syncod Chi42-2 i.e. S2-2, S2-4, S2-6, and syncod Chi42-1 i.e. S1-1, S1-2, S1-3) were greater than that from the wild-type Chi42 (WT-1, WT-2, and WT-3). In addition, yield-related parameters including the number of mature pods, 100 pods weight and 100 seeds weight for all the transgenic peanut lines were higher than that of the non-transformed plant. Among the transgenic lines, line S2-4 exhibited significantly higher growth and yield than the other transgenic lines. These results demonstrated that 42 kDa chitinase genes overexpressing peanut lines could be a candidate for improvement against plants to phytopathogenic fungus S. rolfsii and high yield.
Area yield crop insurance in Vietnam : an analysis from the demand side
When setting prices for each province, crop insurance companies should pay more attention to the relative level of basic risk and the correlation of losses across regions, instead of only focusing on the general level of risk exposure of each region. If farmers receive enough information about the insurance, the demand should be higher than the current rate of uptake. This study analyzes the demand of rice farmers for area yield crop insurance, which was designed and piloted during the period of 2011 - 2013 in Vietnam according to Decision No. 315/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister
Assessment of Antioxidant and Antibacterial Activities of Lactobacillus farciminis HN11 as a Probiotic Candidate
Background and Objective: Lactobacillus farciminis is an obligate homofermentative bacterial species in fermented foods. Although other species such as Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus casei and Lactobacillus rhamnosus in Lactobacillus genus have been well characterized, probiotic characteristics of Lactobacillus farciminis still need to investigate. Thus, the objective of this study was to investigate probiotic characteristics and antibacterial activity of Lactobacillus farciminis HN11 isolated from Solanum macrocarpon sauces in Hue city, Vietnam.
Material and Methods: Lactobacillus farciminis HN11 was cultured in Rogosa and Sharpe media and antibacterial activity of the free-cell suspension was assessed against Escherichia coli, Vibrio parahaemolyticus K5, Vibrio parahaemolyticus KS-02, Vibrio owensii KS-05, Vibrio alginolyticus KS-08, Vibrio alginolyticus A1-1 and Staphylococcus aureus using agar well diffusion method. Various probiotic characteristics of the isolate including antibacterial and antioxidant activities, autoaggregation and coaggregation were assessed. Furthermore, hemolytic and amino-acid dercarboxylase activities were assessed for biosafety assessment. The strain abilities to resist sodium chloride and bile salts were assessed as well.
Results and Conclusion: Lactobacillus farciminis HN11 exhibited significant resistance to NaCl and bile salts. The strain expressed high coaggregation abilities for Escherichia coli, significant autoaggregation abilities and antibacterial activities against Vibrio spp. and Escherichia coli. Antioxidant assessment showed that Lactobacillus farciminis HN11 contained high antioxidant activities. This strain was negative for hemolytic and amino-acid dercarboxylase activities. Moreover, ampicillin and chloramphenicol inhibited growth of Lactobacillus farciminis HN11. This study assessed characteristics of Lactobacillus farciminis HN11 and showed its great potentials as a probiotic in fermented foods, enhancing antioxidant and decreasing harmful foodborne bacteria. Although, encapsulation of the strain within acid resistance materials is suggested to better protect it against high-acid contents of the stomach.

Vocabulary learning is extremely important when learning a foreign language. Fluency in a language depends on vocabulary and its use in specific situations. Speaking well is using vocabulary flexibly and speaking fluently. Researching the popularity of vocabulary is analyzing the prevalence of vocabulary used by linguistics students in communication from discourse analysis. This is a topic the research team is working on. This project will help the researchers learn about common vocabulary that students often use to communicate outside or in the classroom. Thereby understanding whether the vocabulary that students use is diverse, rich, and for the right purpose or not. This study will help students have a more comprehensive view of the ways to use words in communication. In addition, it also helps students improve their communication vocabulary, helps in exams and can be useful for later work. In this study, the research team will investigate the students' ability to use spoken vocabulary, i.e., frequency and extent of vocabulary usage. Article visualizations
Sintering behavior and physical properties of Bi0.5(Na1–xKx)0.5SnO3 lead-free ceramics
In this study, Bi0.5(Na1–xKx)0.5SnO3 (BNKS) ceramics (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4) were fabricated via ultrasound wave before milling. The time of ball milling decreased from 20 to 1 h. The X-ray diffraction patterns show that the BNKS has a single-phase structure. When the potassium content increases, the phase structure of the ceramics changes from rhombohedral to tetragonal. When sintered at 1100 °C and x = 0.2, the ceramics’ physical properties are the best with the mass density of 5.59 g/cm3, the electromechanical coupling constants kp of 0,31 and kt of 0.27, the remanent polarization of 11.9 µC/cm; the dielectric constant εr of 1131, and the highest dielectric constant emax of 4800

Assessment of feed resources availability and use for cattle and pigs in Mai Son District, Son La Province, Vietnam
Son La province has recently put in place policies and programs to support expansion of livestock production, however the province still faces low livestock productivity due to low quality and availability of forages and feedstuff. One of the provincial government’s priorities is to increase productivity of cattle and pigs through improved animal nutrition practices such as increased cultivation of improved forages and better feed management and utilization. Using the Gendered Feed Assessment Tool (G-FEAST), this study assessed the availability and use of local feed resources, and identified feed gaps, challenges and constraints affecting livestock production to inform the design of context-specific and inclusive feed intervention strategies. The study was carried out in four villages in Hat Lot and Co Noi communes, Mai Son district, Son La province, Vietnam. Gender-disaggregated data was collected from 16 focus group discussions (FGDs) (eight FGDs with women and eight FGDs with men) and 49 individual interviews (23 women and 26 men). Winter feed shortage was reported as the most pressing challenge. Further constraints included low yield and/or nutritive value of local forages varieties (mainly Napier). The poor quality of diets arising from use of high proportion of crop residues such as rice bran, banana trunk and sugarcane tops was also flagged as a challenge. Men tend to be engaged in activities such as preparing land, planting forage, harvesting, and purchasing, while women are more engaged in cleaning of feeding points, watering, and weeding. The results present key opportunities and entry points for gender-responsive locally suited feed intervention strategies that can address these context-specific challenges, mainly winter feed shortage, can greatly improve livestock productivity and efficiency. Such interventions include capacity building of women and men farmers, extension & vet staff on utilization of locally available feed resources and purchased feeds, feed conservation, diet formulation, and feeding regimes, and promoting improved forage varieties (establishment, management, and utilization), for cattle and pigs
