Triboelectric Turbines: Design and Construction of a Multi-Rotor Counter-Rotating Wind Turbine Utilizing Direct-Current Triboelectric Nanogenerators

    Get PDF
Direct-current triboelectric nanogenerators (DC-TENG) harness the friction generated between dissimilar rotating materials and convert it to useable electrical power. One of the many potential applications of this technology is in small scale renewable energy. A wind turbine was designed in which multiple DC-TENG generators would be attached to turbine blades of varying dimensions. This project involved the design and construction of several rotating DC-TENG prototypes, followed by measuring the electrical output of each nanogenerator at various rotational speeds

More than a touristic visit: scholar exchanges as a communication method in public diplomacy

    Get PDF
This paper discusses the concept of Public Diplomacy and the effectiveness of a specific Public Diplomacy tool: Scholar Exchanges as a tool of Public Diplomacy. The foreign Fulbright Program of the United States Government is introduced as a case study and for further interpreting the perceptions of the program, a survey is ran among 59 current grantees. Scholar exchanges programs are suggested to be implemented in order to overcome the barriers in communication processes in the international arena

    Does search boost efficiency?

Poaching externality, arising from job-to-job turnovers, implies that a planner should allocate fewer resources to costly job creations. However, these search efforts increase competition among employers, and this could in turn internalize the externality, whereas the congestion externality requires a unit-elastic matching function

An approximation to the prediction of the summery emergence of "Ochlerotatus caspius" (Diptera: Culicidae) based on the relationship between degree-days accumulations and adult captures

PENENTUAN PRIORITAS PROGRAM PENGEMBANGAN KELEMBAGAAN DAN PENGELOLAAN IRIGASI DI NDONESIA

    Get PDF

Technology Management: Lowering Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Through Thin Client Technology

    Get PDF
IS professionals face the daunting challenge of keeping up with the pace of technology while controlling the Total Cost of Ownership. Using the TCO model developed by the Gartner Group and the TCA model by the Tolley Group, many IS professionals have confirmed the overall cost of deploying applications within an enterprise. One possible alternative to controlling the TCO of an organization is thin client technology. A key feature in the recently release Windows 2000 Server is Microsoft’s Terminal Services which is an enhancement to Windows NT Server v4.0 Terminal Server Edition which was the server platform for launching thin client technologies

The effect of manganese oxide on the sinterability of hydroxyapatite

    Get PDF
The sinterability of manganese oxide (MnO2) doped hydroxyapatite (HA) ranging from 0.05 to 1 wt% was investigated. Green samples were prepared and sintered in air at temperatures ranging from 1000 to 1400 °C. Sintered bodies were characterized to determine the phase stability, grain size, bulk density, hardness, fracture toughness and Young's modulus. XRD analysis revealed that the HA phase stability was not disrupted throughout the sintering regime employed. In general, samples containing less than 0.5 wt% MnO2 and when sintered at lower temperatures exhibited higher mechanical properties than the undoped HA. The study revealed that all the MnO2-doped HA achieved >99% relative density when sintered at 1100–1250 °C as compared to the undoped HA which could only attained highest value of 98.9% at 1150 °C. The addition of 0.05 wt% MnO2 was found to be most beneficial as the samples exhibited the highest hardness of 7.58 GPa and fracture toughness of 1.65 MPam1/2 as compared to 5.72 GPa and 1.22 MPam1/2 for the undoped HA when sintered at 1000 °C. Additionally, it was found that the MnO2-doped samples attained E values above 110 GPa when sintered at temperature as low as 1000 °C if compared to 1050 °C for the undoped HA
