Issues in M(atrix) Theory Compactification
We discuss issues concerning M(atrix) theory compactifications on curved
spaces. We argue from the form of the graviton propagator on curved space that
excited string states do not decouple from the annulus D0-brane
amplitude, unlike the flat space case. This argument shows that a large class
of quantum mechanical systems with a finite number of degrees of freedom cannot
reproduce supergravity answers. We discuss the specific example of an ALE space
and suggest sources of possible higher derivative terms that might help
reproduce supergravity results.Comment: title modified, references corrected, 11 pages, harvma
On The Interaction Of D0-Brane Bound States And RR Photons
We consider the problem of the interaction between D0-brane bound state and
1-form RR photons by the world-line theory. Based on the fact that in the
world-line theory the RR gauge fields depend on the matrix coordinates of
D0-branes, the gauge fields also appear as matrices in the formulation. At the
classical level, we derive the Lorentz-like equations of motion for D0-branes,
and it is observed that the center-of-mass is colourless with respect to the
SU(N) sector of the background. Using the path integral method, the
perturbation theory for the interaction between the bound state and the RR
background is developed. We discuss what kind of field theory may be
corresponded to the amplitudes which are calculated by the perturbation
expansion in world-line theory. Qualitative considerations show that the
possibility of existence of a map between the world-line theory and the
non-Abelian gauge theory is very considerable.Comment: LaTeX, 28 pages, 4 eps figures. v2 and v3: eqs. (3.18) and (B.2) are

Occupational Therapists\u27 Role in Sexual Education for Teens and Young Adults Living with Autism Spectrum Disorder
Teens and young adults living with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) do not have equal access to sexual education, thus having lower sexual awareness, little knowledge of preventative sexual health care, and having a more difficult time reading sexual body language (Hannah & Stagg, 2016; Holmes et al., 2019; Mogavero & Hsu, 2020). Deficits in these and many other skills may make it more challenging for teens and young adults living with ASD to engage in an intimate or sexual relationship with a consenting partner. Skilled intervention on the occupation of sexual activity and its related dimensions, such as communication and sensory input, is well within an occupational therapist\u27s scope of practice, yet there is little to no evidence supporting the role of occupational therapists serving clients living with ASD to address such topics. This manuscript will highlight the lack of sexual education supports for teens and young adults living with ASD and how occupational therapists can fill this important role as a trusted sexuality educator
VISITOR PREFERENCES AND VALUES FOR WATER-BASED RECREATION: A CASE STUDY OF THE OCALA NATIONAL FOREST
We used the open-ended contingent valuation method to elicit willingnes to pay (WTP) for day visitors and extended visitors on the Ocala National Forest (ONF), Florida. A Tobit model specification was applied to account for the issues involved with censored WTP bids. The results reveal that visitors would pay more for improved recreational facilities at the ONF. In particular, our estimates show that visitors would pay 1.9 million for moderate improvements, and $2.5 million for more improvements.contingent valuation, Tobit analysis, water-based recreation, Resource /Energy Economics and Policy, Q23, Q26,
Tree Trunk Arthropod Faunas as Food Resources for Birds
Author Institution: Department of Zoology, Miami UniversityThe composition, abundance, and relationship to trunk-surface characteristics of the tree-trunk surface arthropod fauna were studied from August, 1984 to January, 1985 in a beech-maple forest in southwestern Ohio. Samples of trunk-surface arthropods were taken monthly from American beech and sugar maple trees. Although resource levels on the two tree species did not differ significantly, arthropod resource levels were dynamic, changing monthly in magnitude and composition. Live arthropods became progressively less abundant as winter approached; non-living/dormant items did not. Results suggest that trunk surface characteristics offer foraging birds few reliable clues about arthropod resource levels
D-branes and Matrix Theory in Curved Space
We discuss the relation between supersymmetric gauge theory of branes and
supergravity; as it was discovered in D-brane physics, and as it appears in
Matrix theory, with emphasis on motion in curved backgrounds. We argue that
gauged sigma model Lagrangians can be used as definitions of Matrix theory in
curved space. Lecture given at Strings '97; June 20, 1997.Comment: LaTeX with espcrc2; 13 pages, STRINGS97. References added; a

Normative Influence and Rational Conflict Decisions: Group Norms and Cost-Benefit Analyses for Intergroup Behavior
The present paper articulates a model in which ingroup and outgroup norms inform ârationalâ decision-making (cost-benefit analysis) for conflict behaviors. Norms influence perceptions of the consequences of the behavior, and individuals may thus strategically conform to or violate norms in order to acquire benefits and avoid costs. Two studies demonstrate these processes in the context of conflict in QuĂ©bec. In the first study, Anglophonesâ perceptions of Francophone and Anglophone norms for pro-English behaviors predicted evaluations of the benefits and costs of the behaviors, and these cost-benefit evaluations in turn mediated the norm-intention links for both group norms. In the second study, a manipulated focus on supportive versus hostile ingroup and outgroup norms also predicted cost-benefit evaluations, which mediated the norm-intention relationships. The studies support a model of strategic conflict choices in which group norms inform, rather than suppress, rational expectancy-value processes. Implications for theories of decision-making and normative influence are discussed
