Reinforced Flow Retardation Structure at Henshaw Dam
The Henshaw Dam is a semi-hydraulic earthfill structure. The seismic studies indicated that the dam could fail by liquefaction during a strong seismic motion. To ensure the integrity of the dam, the reservoir storage was reduced, the old spillway reconstructed, and a new reinforced flow retardation structure was built immediately downstream from the existing dam
