    Correlation between Preoperative Dietary Dehavior and Weight Loss after Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy

    Purpose: The study aimed to investigate the relationship between preoperative dietary habits and weight loss in individuals with simple obesity who have undergone laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. Methods: From January 2020 to August 2021, the clinical data of 75 patients with simple obesity who underwent laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy at the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University were retrospectively analyzed, including gender, age, height, weight, calculated percentage of total weight loss (TWL), percentage of excess weight loss (%EWL), and the three-factor diet questionnaire, and correlation tests were performed. Results: At 1 month, 3 months, and 1 year postoperatively, postoperative follow-up weight and BMI were considerably reduced (P 0.001), while %TWL and %EWL levels were significantly higher (P 0.001). Emotional eating (EE) and unrestrained eating habits (UE) reduced considerably 1 month postoperatively (P 0.001). There was no significant link between preoperative CR and %TWL and %EWL at 1 month, 3 months, or 1 year postoperatively, while preoperative EE and UE were marginally positively connected with %TWL and %EWL at 1 month (r > 0.3, P<0.05). Conclusions: Following LSG, dietary habits improved dramatically, and preoperative EE and UE were shown to be weakly closely connected with early weight loss in obese patients after LSG

    Analysis of the Effect of Nano-SiO2 and Waterproofing Agent on the Water Transportation Process in Mortar Using NMR

    Moisture diffusion in cement-based materials significantly impacts its durability. In this study, we analyzed the effect of adding a waterproofing agent and nano-SiO2 (NS) on the water transportation process in mortar using capillary water absorption tests and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technology. The results indicate that the combined action of the waterproofing agent and nano-SiO2 drastically reduce the capillary water absorption coefficient and have a more significant impact than only adding the waterproofing agent. The moisture diffusion in different sections of the mortar during the water absorption process is obtained from the NMR test results and two function models. Comparative studies indicate that the NMR test results have good correlation with the capillary water absorption test results and provide accurate process data. The NMR analysis results offer a new analytical method to characterize the porosity of cement-based materials by continuously monitoring small-pitch sections

    On the Coupling and Coordination Development between Environment and Economy: A Case Study in the Yangtze River Delta of China

    The coupling and coordination development of the environment and economy (CC2E) is one of the most vital issues to sustainable development. This paper adopted the coupling coordination model, projection pursuit algorithm, and random forest model to explore the spatial-temporal evolution and influencing factors of the CC2E in the Yangtze River Delta from 2015 to 2019, respectively. The results showed that: (1) The degree of coupling coordination (DCC) of the CC2E in most cities of the Yangtze River Delta has risen from primary coordination to intermediate coordination. (2) In the spatial perspective, the distribution of DCC is correlated with geographical location. The value of DCC in the western region was significantly lower than that of the eastern cities. (3) The influencing factors results showed that the GDP in the economic subsystem and the annual average concentration of PM2.5 in the environmental subsystem were the most influencing factors of DCC in the Yangtze River Delta. The established index system of CC2E and the measurements of CC2E provide a new idea for how to achieve sustainable development. Meanwhile, this study can provide recommendations for formulating the environmental protection and economic development policy

    The Mechanism of Delayed Ischemic Preconditioning in Alleviating Acute Ischemia/Reperfusion Renal Injury through Treg Mediated by Immature CD11c+ Dendritic Cells

    Introduction: Renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is one of the major causes of acute kidney injury, and its mechanism is complex involving multiple factors, while delayed ischemic preconditioning (DIPC) has a protective effect on the above process. In our previous study, we found that DIPC can exert its protection on renal IRI by inhibiting the maturation of dendritic cells (DCs), but the mechanism has not been clarified. This study aimed to investigate the protective mechanism of DIPC on renal IRI in mice through Treg mediated by immature DCs (imDCs). Methods: The IRI mice model, DIPC treatment, and conditional CD11c+ DCs (CD11c-DTR) knockout mice were used to perform our study. The maturation and differentiation of DCs and Treg cells in the kidney and spleen were analyzed by flow cytometry. HE staining was used to evaluate the pathology of the kidney tissue. The level of creatinine (Cr), oxidative stress factors (SOD, MDA), and inflammatory factors (TNF-α, IL-10, IL-4) were also measured. Then, imDCs were co-cultured with HK-2 cells, and apoptosis was analyzed with flow cytometry and PI-Hoechst 33,342 fluorescence staining to assess the apoptosis rate of HK-2 cells under hypoxic-reoxygenated (H/R) conditions. Results: DIPC could decrease renal Cr levels, alleviate pathological renal damage, and reduce oxidative stress and inflammation caused by IRI. Moreover, DIPC could decrease the number of mature DCs (mDCs) and increase Treg lymphocyte infiltration in the kidney tissue, while the reduction of DCs reversed this process. In addition, our in vitro experiment found that in the H/R model, the apoptosis of HK-2 cells decreased which were co-cultured with imDCs. Conclusion: DIPC can regulate the differentiation of DCs into imDCs, thus affecting the differentiation level and distribution of Treg cells to exert its protective effect on renal IRI

    Prunus sunhangii: A new species of Prunus from central China

    A new species of Rosaceae from Central China, Prunus sunhangii D. G. Zhang & T. Deng, sp. nov., is described and illustrated. The new species is placed in Prunus subgenus Cerasus by flower and fruit characteristics. It is most similar to Prunus cerasoides, but differs by having longitudinally 2-lobed apical petals, an acuminate leaf apex, 17–25 stamens, white petals, dark black drupes, brown hypanthium, and different phenology. The phylogenetic placement of this species was assessed based on morphological and molecular data. Molecular analysis (cpDNA + ITS) corroborated its placement in subgenus Cerasus, specifically Prunus section Serrula. Keywords: Phylogenetic analyses, Taxonomy, Cerasus, Section Serrul

    Exploring the Relationship of Bone Turnover Markers and Bone Mineral Density in Community-Dwelling Postmenopausal Women

    Aims. To explore the relationships of procollagen type 1 N-terminal propeptide (P1NP) and β cross-linked C-telopeptide of type 1 collagen (β-CTX) with bone mineral density (BMD) in postmenopausal women. Methods. All postmenopausal women were selected from a community-based case-control study. The anteroposterior L1-L4 and left proximal femur BMD were measured. P1NP and β-CTX were also collected and tested. The main correlation analysis was applied to explore the relationships of BMD, P1NP, and β-CTX. Results. The total 1055 postmenopausal women were enrolled. The BMD at all sites kept a decrease continually with age (P<0.01). In addition, the level of β-CTX increased significantly from 45 to 50 years old and remained at a high level in the later stage, while the level of P1NP changed little or even decreased with age. Logistic regression model showed that β-CTX has better ability to predict BMD than P1NP, as demonstrated by an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.63. Conclusion. P1NP and β-CTX are important markers to monitor bone metabolism. This trial is registered with ChiCTR-SOC-17013090. The date of registration is Oct. 23, 2017

    High-Throughput Sequencing Reveals a Dynamic Bacterial Linkage between the Captive White Rhinoceros and Its Environment

    ABSTRACT Soil is an essential part of the animal habitat and has a large diversity of microbiota, while the animal body was colonized by a complex bacterial community; so far, the relationship between the animal host microbial community and the soil microbial ecosystem remains largely unknown. In this study, 15 white rhinoceros from three different captive grounds were selected and the bacterial community of the gut, skin, and environment of these rhinoceros were analyzed by 16S rRNA sequencing technology. Our results showed that Firmicutes and Bacteroidota were the predominant phyla in the gut microbiome, whereas skin and environment samples share similar microbiome profiles and are dominated by the phyla of Actinobacteriota, Chloroflexi, and Proteobacteria. Although the bacterial composition of the gut differs from that of the skin and environment, the Venn diagrams showed that there were 22 phyla and 186 genera shared by all the gut, skin, and environmental microbes in white rhinoceroses. Further cooccurrence network analysis indicated a bacterial linkage based on a complex interaction was established by the bacterial communities from the three different niches. In addition, beta diversity and bacterial composition analysis showed that both the captive ground and host ages induced shifts in the microbial composition of white rhinoceroses, which suggested that the bacterial linkage between the captive white rhinoceros and its environment is dynamic. Overall, our data contribute to a better understanding of the bacterial community of the captive white rhinoceros, especially for the relationship between the environment and animal bacterial communities. IMPORTANCE The white rhinoceros is one of the world’s most endangered mammals. The microbial population plays a key role in animal health and welfare; however, studies regarding the microbial communities of the white rhinoceros are relatively limited. As the white rhinoceros has a common behavior of mud baths and thus is in direct contact with the environment, a relationship between the animal microbial community and the soil microbial ecosystem appears possible, but it remains unclear. Here, we described the characteristics and interaction of bacterial communities of the white rhinoceros in three different niches, including gut, skin, and environment. We also analyzed the effects of captive ground and age on the composition of the bacterial community. Our findings highlighted the relationship among the three niches and may have important implications for the conservation and management of this threatened species
