    Development of A “PharmaComm” Serious Game for Teaching Pharmacist Communication and Drug Administration in a Virtual Hospital Setting

    Practical experience is crucial in pharmacy education, but it can be difficult to provide pharmacy students with a sufficient level of experience during their education due to a number of challenges. Video games might provide a platform where students can gain positive learning experience in a virtual environment. Serious games have been used successfully across many industries, which suggest that a well-designed serious game can have positive learning outcomes. Increased engagement and motivation are mentioned by experts as some of the main benefits of serious games. Being able to practise skills before utilising them in real-world scenarios is another advantage identified. In this paper, we present a virtual patient simulator which is designed specifically teaching pharmacy students patient communication and administration of drugs. A pilot study and an expert review were carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of the application and its findings are presented

    Split-Drain Magnetic Field-Effect Transistor Channel Charge Trapping and Stress Induced Sensitivity Deterioration

    Session EB: Materials for ApplicationsThis paper proposed an analytical model on the deterioration of magnetic sensitivity of sectorial split-drain magnetic field-effect transistors (SD-MAGFETs). The deterioration is governed by the trap fill rate at the channel boundary traps, which is geometric dependent. Experimental results are presented which show good consistency with the analytical derivation. The deterioration is the most severe at a sector angle of 54.6°, which shows a design tradeoff with sensing hysteresis. Design guidelines for sectorial SD-MAGFET to obtain high sensitivity hysteresis and slow sensitivity deterioration are also presented which provide important information for efficient design. © 2013 IEEE.published_or_final_versio

    Two-dimensional arrays of emissive micro-light-emitting diodes (Ό-LEDS) have been developed for a variety of applications such as high resolution micro-displays, maskless photo-lithography and multichannel visible-light optical communications amongst others. Ό-LEDs have traditionally been fabricated on InGaN LED wafers grown on transparent sapphire substrates, and have suffered from optical crosstalk issues.     3-D In Vitro Acoustic Super-Resolution and Super-Resolved Velocity Mapping Using Microbubbles

    Standard clinical ultrasound (US) imaging frequencies are unable to resolve microvascular structures due to the fundamental diffraction limit of US waves. Recent demonstrations of 2D super-resolution both in vitro and in vivo have demonstrated that fine vascular structures can be visualized using acoustic single bubble localization. Visualization of more complex and disordered 3D vasculature, such as that of a tumor, requires an acquisition strategy which can additionally localize bubbles in the elevational plane with high precision in order to generate super-resolution in all three dimensions. Furthermore, a particular challenge lies in the need to provide this level of visualization with minimal acquisition time. In this work, we develop a fast, coherent US imaging tool for microbubble localization in 3D using a pair of US transducers positioned at 90°. This allowed detection of point scatterer signals in 3 dimensions with average precisions equal to 1.9 ”m in axial and elevational planes, and 11 ”m in the lateral plane, compared to the diffraction limited point spread function full widths at half maximum of 488 ”m, 1188 ”m and 953 ”m of the original imaging system with a single transducer. Visualization and velocity mapping of 3D in vitro structures was demonstrated far beyond the diffraction limit. The capability to measure the complete flow pattern of blood vessels associated with disease at depth would ultimately enable analysis of in vivo microvascular morphology, blood flow dynamics and occlusions resulting from disease states

Currently, the analytical method based on blood pressure (BP) or heart rate (HR) changes during the TTT is linear but normal physiological modulations of BP and HR are thought to be predominately nonlinear. Therefore, this study consists of two parts: the first part is analyzing the HR during TTT which is compared to three methods to distinguish normal controls and subjects with ANS dysfunction. The first method is power spectrum density (PSD), while the second method is detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA), and the third method is multiscale entropy (MSE) to calculate the complexity of system. The second part of the study is to analyze BP and cerebral blood flow velocity (CBFV) changes during TTT. Two measures were used to compare the results, namely correlation coefficient analysis (nMxa) and MSE. The first part of this study has concluded that the ratio of the low frequency power to total power of PSD, and MSE methods are better than DFA to distinguish the difference between normal controls and patients groups. While in the second part, the nMxa of the three stages moving average window is better than the nMxa with all three stages together.     Key Messages: 1. Psychological factors play the most significant role in contributing to long-term care choices. Older people’s positive attitude towards community care services (CCS) and strong structural solidarity of the family are two key factors. 2. Stronger family structural solidarity is associated with the use of CCS, whereas family structural solidarity tends to be confined to nuclear families rather than intergenerational families, which implies that spouse and children caregivers have different needs. Caregiver support services targeting the elderly couple’s families and children as caregivers should be differentiated and more specifically targeted. 3. In general, CCS serve frail elders with acute rehabilitation needs, who are more likely to be cared for by family members and/or domestic helpers, whereas residential care services serve frail elders with a higher level of cognitive impairment.published_or_final_versio
