Effectiveness of ESP Based Learning: Teaching Work Related English to Medical Secretary Studies Students

    Get PDF
This paper was concerned with designing an English for occupational purposes (EOP) course for 3rd grade medical secretary studies students. The authors examined both the needs of the students taking the course and the target workplace in order to produce suitable materials. This research identified some of the English skills necessary for medical secretaries to work in Japan. The authors found that tailoring material to the student group was effective and enhanced levels of motivation during activities, however, few students reached a high level of confidence performing the tasks. The authors suggest this may be because there is a large gap between the skills necessary to perform work activities and the level of students\u27 English competency on entering the course. In order to bridge this gap, the authors suggested two possible strategies: either reducing the complexity of the skills that need to be mastered within a 15-week course, or dividing the skills into basic and advanced levels and teaching the course over two 15-week courses

The quality of care is asked from becoming of providing with the care service by the system of the care insurance system plural. There is a view that the revision of the care reward by the revision of the long term care insurance in 2005 has deteriorated the care working environment further, too. The user can lodge a complaint when there is dissatisfaction in the provided service. Next, 1st place occupies the entire more than half to the situation of the complaint seen according to the service kind by the home-visit care by the entire 28.7% by 24.7% of the home care support. The care service is able not to be measured in home helf pidividual's quality alone though the mutual agreement of the measurement standard of the quality of the care service cannot be necessarily clarified. It is understood that home helper's realities have deteriorated by an increase in the population of the senior citizen and the change in various systems now after giving birth as a public in-home welfare business in 1962 when it takes a general view from the transition of a past home helf service business of the put current state of a current care service practitioner the elderly person carer. As for the evaluation of the care service, home help individual's education, nature, and technology are ofter asked. However, it is necessary to evaluate whether management, state of employment of an appropriate needs assessment, the care plan, and service, and home help individuals' qualities etc. are appropriately performed overall

Prospect of cytologic diagnosis for malignant melanoma in the maxillary sinus

    Get PDF
Two cases of malignant melanoma arising in the maxillary sinus are reported. Cytological examination of the solution obtained by local washing through the sinus puncture identified numerous melanoma cells together with melanophages. The cases were then scheduled for well-planned, preoperative treatment. The cytological criteria for diagnosing malignant melanoma are outlined, and the cytological approach is stressed as a valuable diagnostic procedure for early detection of malignant tumors and surveillance of postoperative recurrence, especially in paranasal sinuses.</p

Crystal structure of pathogenic Staphylococcus aureus lipase complex with the anti-obesity drug orlistat

抗肥満薬が黄色ブドウ球菌の病原因子を阻害するメカニズムを解明. 京都大学プレスリリース. 2020-03-31.Staphylococcus aureus lipase (SAL), a triacylglycerol esterase, is an important virulence factor and may be a therapeutic target for infectious diseases. Herein, we determined the 3D structure of native SAL, the mutated S116A inactive form, and the inhibitor complex using the anti-obesity drug orlistat to aid in drug development. The determined crystal structures showed a typical α/β hydrolase motif with a dimeric form. Fatty acids bound near the active site in native SAL and inactive S116A mutant structures. We found that orlistat potently inhibits SAL activity, and it covalently bound to the catalytic Ser116 residue. This is the first report detailing orlistat–lipase binding. It provides structure-based information on the production of potent anti-SAL drugs and lipase inhibitors. These results also indicated that orlistat can be repositioned to treat bacterial diseases

Charge Exchange X-ray Emission Detected in Multiple Shells of Supernova Remnant G296.1-0.5

Recent high-resolution X-ray spectroscopy revealed possible presence of charge exchange (CX) X-ray emission in supernova remnants (SNRs). Although CX is expected to take place at outermost edges of SNR shells, no significant measurement has been reported so far due to the lack of nearby SNR samples. Here we present an X-ray study of SNR G296.1-0.5, which has a complicated multiple-shell structure, with the Reflection Grating Spectrometer (RGS) onboard XMM-Newton. We select two shells in different regions and find that in both regions O VII line shows a high forbidden-to-resonance (f/rf/r) ratio that cannot be reproduced by a simple thermal model. Our spectral analysis suggests a presence of CX and the result is also supported by our new radio observation, where we discover evidence of molecular clouds associated with these shells. Assuming G296.1-0.5 has a spherical shock, we estimate that CX is dominant in a thin layer with a thickness of 0.2--0.3\% of the shock radius. The result is consistent with a previous theoretical expectation and we therefore conclude that CX occurs in G296.1-0.5.Comment: 11 pages, 8 figure

The aim of this study was to clarify the associations of family members living together with health-related behaviors in Japanese young workers. The participants were 300 men and women aged 20-39 years in 2015 who had a job. A web-based self-administered questionnaire on status of partnering and parenting, number of family members living together, dietary habits, drinking habit, smoking habit, self-rated health, employment status, working time and commuting time was conducted through Internet. Multiple logistic regression analysis and general linear models were used to assess the association of family members living together with health-related behaviors. The multivariate-adjusted odds ratio (95% confidence interval, p-value) for current drinking in unmarried participants living with their parents compared to unmarried participants living alone was 0.35 (0.13-0.93, p=0.036). The adjusted means of frequency of breakfast skipping and frequency of eating out showed a trend for inverse associations with the presence of a partner and children. However, those associations disappeared after adjustment for age of youngest child. The findings suggest that the presence of parents might affect drinking behavior and that age of youngest child living together might affect the frequency of breakfast skipping in young Japanese workers
