On Ray's theorem for weak firmly nonexpansive mappings in Hilbert Spaces

Get PDF
In this work, we introduce notions of generalized firmly nonexpansive (G-firmly non expansive) and fundamentally firmly nonexpansive (F-firmly nonexpansive) mappings and utilize to the same to prove Ray's theorem for G-firmly and F-firmly nonexpansive mappings in Hilbert Spaces. Our results extend the result due to F. Kohsaka [ Ray's theorem revisited: a fixed point free firmly nonexpansive mapping in Hilbert spaces, Journal of Inequalities and Applications (2015) 2015:86 ]

Job crafting and organizational commitment: The mediating role of person-job fit in the food and beverage sector

Get PDF
Purpose – Job crafting plays an essential role in job design since it is a new approach from the employee’s perspective to the manager. However, little research has investigated the hotel industry’s job crafting, particularly in the food and beverage department. Therefore, this study examines the relationship between job crafting and organizational commitment through the mediating role of person-job fit in the food and beverage department in five-star hotels. Design/methodology/approach – This study presents a conceptual framework with eight constructs. In this study, a self-administered questionnaire was used to collect data from full-time food and beverage employees in a five-star hotel. The proposed model was examined using confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, validity analysis, standardized path coefficients, and the Sobel test for mediation analysis. Findings – According to the findings of this study, job crafting factors impact the person-job fit of food and beverage employees. The results also demonstrate that job crafting, and organizational commitment are mediated by person-job fit. The originality of the research – This paper adds a new chain to job design practices in the hospitality industry (i.e., job crafting leads to person-job fit, which enhances employees’ organizational commitment). Practical implications – Employee job crafting impacts the hotel by improving the fit of employees to their jobs, which leads to higher organizational commitment. As a result, hotel job designers should update their job design methodologies to include job crafting practices for hospitality employees

Impact of Admission Glycosylated Hemoglobin A1c on Angiographic Characteristics and Short Term Clinical Outcomes of Nondiabetic Patients with Acute ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction

Get PDF
We aimed to assess the predictive value of admission HbA1c level in nondiabetic patients presented by acute STEMI, on outcome of PCI and short term outcome of adverse cardiac events. Methods. 60 nondiabetic patients were admitted to Cardiology Department, Zagazig University Hospital, with acute STMI: 27 patients with HbA1c levels of 4.5% to 6.4% (group 1), 17 patients with HbA1c levels of 6.5% to 8.5% (group 2), and 16 patients with HbA1c levels higher than 8.5% (group 3). Either invasive intervention was done at admission by (pPCI) or coronary angiography was done within month (3–28 days) from taking thrombolytic. Participants were followed up for 6 months. Results. There was significant difference among different groups of HbA1c as regards the number of diseased vessels, severity of CAD lesions (p value < 0.01), and TIMI flow grades (p value < 0.05). There was significant difference among different groups as regards the adverse cardiac events on short term follow-up period (p value < 0.05). Conclusion. The present study showed that admission higher HbA1c level in patients presented by acute STEMI is associated with more severe CAD, lower rate of complete revascularization, and higher incidence of adverse cardiac events

Prevalence of Hepatitis C Virus Seropositivity and Its Impact on Coronary Artery Disease among Egyptian Patients Referred for Coronary Angiography

Background. We tested the prevalence and impact of HCV seropositivity among Egyptian patients referred for coronary angiography. Subjects and Methods. This cross-sectional study was conducted in Zagazig University hospitals including 509 patients scheduled for elective coronary angiography between June 2013 and June 2014. By taking full history on admission, laboratory workup including HCV Ab, echocardiography study, and coronary angiography, we calculated the mean number of coronary artery lesions and the mean number of affected coronary artery vessels for all patients. The severity of the coronary lesions was estimated using the Gensini score. Results. HCV seropositive patients referred for coronary angiography were about 30.3% (which is greater than the prevalence of HCV seropositivity among general population in Egypt), patients proved to have CAD who are HCV antibody positive had more severe coronary lesions than in seronegative one (p<0.05), and patients proved to have CAD who are HCV antibody positive had comparable prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors as seronegative patients except for diabetes and hypertension which are more prevalent in seronegative patients (p<0.05). Conclusion. Prevalence of HCV antibody positive patients referred for coronary angiography was about 30.3%, and CAD patients who are HCV antibody positive had more severe coronary lesions and less prevalence of diabetes and hypertension than HCV antibody negative

MicroRNA expression analysis in endometriotic serum treated mesenchymal stem cells

Get PDF
Endometriosis is defined by presence of endometrial-like-tissue outside the uterus. Recently, ectopic endometriotic lesions have been suggested to originate by abnormal differentiation of endometrial mesenchymal stem cells (eMSCs). MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play an important role in the pathophysiology of endometriosis. Through a PCR array approach, we aimed to assess the differential expression of microRNAs in human eMSC treated in culture with sera derived from women with severe endometriosis. Sera were collected from five patients with severe endometriosis and three control women and added individually in the culture medium to conduct experimental and control eMSC sets, respectively. Regular microscopic follow-up for cell morphology was performed. SYBR Green based real-time PCR array was used to assess the expression of 84 miRNAs. Bioinformatics analysis was done to predict the target genes of the significantly dysregulated miRNAs and their enriched biological processes and pathways. Thirty-two miRNAs were found significantly dysregulated in experimental cultures. Functional enrichment analysis revealed several endometriosis associated biological processes and pathways were enriched by target genes of these miRNAs. In conclusion, treatment of human eMSCs with sera of severe endometriosis cases affects the expression of certain miRNAs and their target genes. This may result in altering cell functions and consequently, endometriosis development

Background: SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has had many significant impacts within the surgical realm, and surgeons have been obligated to reconsider almost every aspect of daily clinical practice. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study reported in compliance with the CHERRIES guidelines and conducted through an online platform from June 14th to July 15th, 2020. The primary outcome was the burden of burnout during the pandemic indicated by the validated Shirom-Melamed Burnout Measure. Results: Nine hundred fifty-four surgeons completed the survey. The median length of practice was 10 years; 78.2% included were male with a median age of 37 years old, 39.5% were consultants, 68.9% were general surgeons, and 55.7% were affiliated with an academic institution. Overall, there was a significant increase in the mean burnout score during the pandemic; longer years of practice and older age were significantly associated with less burnout. There were significant reductions in the median number of outpatient visits, operated cases, on-call hours, emergency visits, and research work, so, 48.2% of respondents felt that the training resources were insufficient. The majority (81.3%) of respondents reported that their hospitals were included in the management of COVID-19, 66.5% felt their roles had been minimized; 41% were asked to assist in non-surgical medical practices, and 37.6% of respondents were included in COVID-19 management. Conclusions: There was a significant burnout among trainees. Almost all aspects of clinical and research activities were affected with a significant reduction in the volume of research, outpatient clinic visits, surgical procedures, on-call hours, and emergency cases hindering the training. Trial registration: The study was registered on clicaltrials.gov "NCT04433286" on 16/06/2020

No full text
This paper is devoted to the investigation of a kind of generalized Caputo semilinear fractional differential inclusions with deviated-advanced nonlocal conditions. Solvability of the problem is established by means of the Leray-Schauder’s alternative approach with the help of the Lagrange mean-value classical theorem. Finally, some examples are given to delineate the efficient of theoretical results
