Political Education for High School Students in Makassar City

This article aims to discuss the political activity of beginner voter education for high school students to realize the awareness of novice voters to participate in elections, understanding the importance of the role of novice voters in the democratic process, and knowledge of political developments for novice voters. The results achieved are the emergence of student enthusiasm in discussing matters related to political issues. It is quite visible that this is marked by the topics they discuss about elections that produce trustworthy leaders and then enlightenment given in understanding the importance of novice voters in participating the election was well received and the enthusiasm for conducting the election received a positive response from the students, but it was interesting because it turned out that students' understanding of the general election was more influenced by the media they watched such as TV and social medi

In the title compound, C14H10FNO3, the dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 32.66 (14)°. An S(6) ring motif is formed due to an intramolecular O—H⋯O hydrogen bond between the hydroxy and carbonyl groups. In the crystal, molecules are consolidated into dimers with R 2 2(8) ring motifs by pairs of O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds

Modulation of Local Reflexes During Centrally Commanded Movements

During centrally orchestrated movements, the nervous system must distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate reflexes. I studied local postural flexion reflexes of the crayfish that are evoked by unexpected touch. An isolated abdomen was used which permitted recording and stimulating of tailfan afferents, nerve cord interneurons, and postural motor neurons. Stimulation of the afferents evoked a postural flexion response of the medium tonic and large phasic motor neurons of the superficial flexor nerve; a flexion motor program was then excited by stimulating descending interneurons. Afferent stimulation evoked a smaller motor response during the motor program than before or after. These results indicate that the postural reflex responses to sensory stimulation are inhibited at a site presynaptic to the motor neurons during the flexion motor program. Application of Picrotoxin (blocked inhibition) to the primary afferent-to-mechanosensory interneuron synapse did not prevent the modulation of the postural flexion reflex during the flexion motor program

An Invariant Dual-beam Snowflake Antenna for Future 5G Communications

    Get PDF
A broadband snowflake antenna for future 5G and millimeter-wave communications is presented. The proposed antenna has a size of 8 × 5 mm 2 . The antenna consists of a central hexagon surrounded by a series of symmetrically placed smaller hexagons around it, resulting in broadband characteristics. The impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna ranges from 25.284-29.252 GHz. The antenna has a gain of 3.12 dBi at 28 GHz and is more than 98% efficient. A distinct feature of the proposed antenna is its dual-beam radiation pattern. The two beams remain fixed at ±50° even if the frequency is varied with in its operating band. The proposed antenna is modelled on thin Rogers substrate which makes it very useful for future 5G smart phones

Icmapen: an icmetric based security framework for sleep apnea monitoring

    Get PDF
Smart devices are becoming increasingly powerful which is why they are being used for point of care health services. Wearable devices can be purchased which allow continuous monitoring of a wearers vital signs. The data is generated, processed and stored remotely where it can be readily accessible to health professionals. Recent attacks on healthcare systems and health data shows that the systems are insecure and that security is a major hurdle in their wide adoption. Conventional cryptographic systems rely on stored keys for the provision of security. The stored keys can be captured in many ways which leads to the system being exposed. The ICMetric technology remedies this by eliminating the need for stored keys. Thus, the ICMetric technology functions as a key theft deterrent and as a basis for cryptographic services. This paper studies the design and implementation of an ICMetric based health monitoring system for people diagnosed with sleep apnea. The proposed system provides key generation, authentication and confidentiality by using the novel ICMetric technology. The proposed scheme is constituent of a cloud computing component which enables remote monitoring and data storage for access by health professionals.  This paper studies the performance of the proposed schemes by studying the running time. The security of the scheme has also been studied to show that the system provides high levels of security without resource compromise. Keywords: ICMetric; Sleep apnea; Cloud computing; Authentication; Confidentialit

Determination of levels of fluoride and trace metal ions in drinking waters and remedial measures to purify water

Fluoride is recognized to be most effective caries-preventive agent. The main source of fluoride for people is generally food and drinking water. For this reason, fluoride and other metal ion concentrations in the drinking water samples were estimated. For the determination of fluoride, Na, Li and K an ion – meter and flame photometer were used. While the concentrations of other metal ions (Mn, Cd, Co, Ni, Pb, Fe, Zn and Cu) were estimated by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometer.Statistical parameters and multiple correlations between paired water samples were also calculated. For the purification of water, adsorption technique was adopted using Al2O3 and Al2O3 -Pb 0.1, Al2O3 – Pb 0. 01 doping systems. Adsorption isotherm equations were also applied to calculate the values of respective constants. Thermodynamic parameters (DGo, DHo and DSo) were also calculated. According to theresults obtained, the metal ion concentration in the drinking waters in the studied area are within the safe drinking water regulation limits and also the fluoride level is lower then the permissible limit forflouride
