One of the plants that is well known in the community and is used as a traditional medicine is patchouli (Pogostemon cablin Benth.). It contains essential oils, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, glycosides, terpenoids and steroids. The alcohol content, such as patchouli alcohol and its derivatives, phenol, and a group of terpenoids in patchouli oil has antibacterial activity. The aim at this research to determine the total phenolic condition the ethanol extract from the patchouli leaves. The extract obtained was analyzed ist content using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The measurements were done at the maximum wavelength of 662,85 nm. The result showed that the total phenolic in patchouli leave is 327,84 mgGAE /gram of extract

Analisis Pektin Albedo Buah Jeruk Pamelo sebagai Adsorben Logam Berat Timbal (Pb), Kadmium (Cd) dan Tembaga (Cu): Pectin Analysis Of Pamelo Citrus Albedo (Citrus Maxima (Burm.f) Merr.) AS Adsorbent Of Heavy Metal Plumbum (Pb), Cadmium (Cd) And Copper (Cu)

Pamelo citrus is a fruit plant having the potential to be developed in Indonesia. One of the centers for producing large oranges or Pamelo citrus in South Sulawesi is Pangkep Regency. One of the components of the Pamelo citrus is pectin. Pectin is a polysaccharide compound with a high molecular weight which is widely found in plants and it can absorb metals because they contain carboxylic groups. This study aimed to analyze pectin from albedo pamelo citrus fruit as an adsorbent for heavy metal plumbum (Pb), cadmium (Cd) and copper (Cu). The method used was atomic absorption spectrophotometer with the equation analysis of heavy metal adsorption by pectin of pamelo citrus determined by Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isothermal method. The results showed that pectin of albedo pamelo citrus following the isothermal of Freundlich adsorption which showed the adsorbent capacity of Pb, Cd and Cu with the KF values 0.561 mg/g, 0.010 mg/g and 0.066 mg/g, respectively. Meanwhile, n values were 0.823 for Pb, 0.321 for Cd and 1.121 for Cu, and in commercial pectin following the isothermal of Freundlich adsorption with the KF values of Pb, Cd and Cu were 0.650 mg/g, Cd 0.015 and Cu of 0.77 mg/g, respectively. Then the n values were 0.641 for Pb, 0.811 for Cd and 1.183 for Cu

Pomelo citrus (Citrus maxima (Burm) Merr) is a fruit plant that has the potential to be developed for health. Pomelo fruit contains lycopene, flavonoids and vitamin C which can provide antioxidant activity. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential antioxidant activity of ethanol extract and fraction of n-hexane of pomelo citrus using quercetin as a comparison. Extraction of pomelo citrus fruit using the maceration method with liquid-liquid fractionation using water and n-hexane (1: 3 v / v). Testing of antioxidant activity using the DPPH (1,1-Diphenyl-2-picrylhidrazil) method is based on the ability of the sample to capture DPPH free radicals which are characterized by purple to yellow discoloration and a decrease in the absorbance value of DPPH which has reacted with samples in certain concentrations. Absorbance measurements using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 514,942 nm. The results showed that the IC50 value of quercetin was 6.55 µg / mL which was a strong antioxidant, while the IC50 value of the ethanol extract of pomelo citrus fruit was 2882.26 µg / mL and IC50 value of the n-hexane fraction of pomelo orange was 3668,44 µg / mL which is a weak antioxidant category
