Avoiding the uncertainty from correlation between |Delta m_{31}^2| and CP phase delta in nu_mu --> nu_mu long baseline experiments

We introduce a new index I_{Delta m_{31}^2} to find where is the better setup of the baseline length and energy to avoid as well as possible the uncertainty from the correlation between Delta m_{31}^2 and cos(delta) in nu_mu --> nu_mu long baseline experiments.Comment: 6 pages, 9 figure

The Effects of a Vector-like Doublet as the Fourth Generation to RbR_b

We study the effects of a vector-like SU(2) doublet quarks as the fourth generation on RbR_b and RcR_c. By considering the constraint from the experimental data of forward-backward asymmetry, AFBbA_{FB}^b and AFBcA_{FB}^c,as well as FCNC among light quarks, we show that there is an allowed region of parameters for RbR_b but not for RcR_c.Comment: 16pages, Latex, uses epic.sty and eepic.st

The Width Difference of BdB_d Mesons

    Get PDF
We estimate \dg/\Gamma_d, including 1/mb1/m_b contributions and part of the next-to-leading order QCD corrections. We find that adding the latter corrections decreases the value of \dg/\Gamma_d computed at the leading order by a factor of almost 2. We also show that under certain conditions an upper bound on the value of \dg/\Gamma_d in the presence of new physics can be derived. With the high statistics and accurate time resolution of the upcoming LHC experiment, the measurement of \dg seems to be possible. This measurement would be important for an accurate measurement of sin(2β)\sin(2\beta) at the LHC. In addition, we point out the possibility that the measurement of the width difference leads to a clear signal for new physics.Comment: 5 pages, latex. Chemical analysis of soluble fractions from normal and autolysed rabbit liver by column chromatography

Chromatography on Sephadex G-200 was performed with the soluble fraction of homogenated rabbit liver, which was extracted with 0.1 M phosphate buffer containing 0.1 M NaCl. and the influences of autolysis on the soluble fraction of liver were also examined. The soluble fraction of liver was different from serum in molecular weight, in electrophoretic character and in components with sedimentation coefficients. The soluble fraction of liver was stable under the influence of Mg and K ions, and rather unstable in the presence of Na ions. Serum was fractionated in three main peaks. The soluble fraction of liver was fractionated in a similar pattern as of serum, but the first peak contained nucleic acid and lipoprotein. The second contained albumin. 32p radioactivity peaks of the stored sample appeared with change in patterns by autolysis from the original, and were observed wide based and continuous figures in retarded peaks. The correlations with the first peak and retarded peaks were represented by the analysis of phosphorus compounds and electrophoresis. In lipid analysis, both diglyceride and monoglyceride gradually decreased, and phospholipid pattern was observed to increase in retarded peaks by autolysis. Lipoprotein or lipid-albumin complex was gradually converted to smaller molecular weight compounds, and appeared in retarded peaks.</p

A deep brain photoreceptive molecule in the toad hypothalamus

    Get PDF
AbstractWe have isolated a cDNA clone encoding a deep brain photoreceptive molecule from the hypothalamic cDNA library of the toad, Bufo japonicus. The deduced amino acid sequence showed the highest similarity to that of pinopsin (75–76%) among vertebrate retinal opsins, indicating the expression of toad pinopsin in the deep brain. Antibodies raised against the C-terminal tail of toad pinopsin stained cell bodies and the knob-like structures of the cerebrospinal fluid-contacting neurons in the anterior preoptic nucleus. This region is known to play an important role in breeding behavior, suggesting that toad pinopsin acts as a photosensor for the photoperiodic gonadal response

    Quantum error correction beyond qubits

Quantum computation and communication rely on the ability to manipulate quantum states robustly and with high fidelity. Thus, some form of error correction is needed to protect fragile quantum superposition states from corruption by so-called decoherence noise. Indeed, the discovery of quantum error correction (QEC) turned the field of quantum information from an academic curiosity into a developing technology. Here we present a continuous-variable experimental implementation of a QEC code, based upon entanglement among 9 optical beams. In principle, this 9-wavepacket adaptation of Shor's original 9-qubit scheme allows for full quantum error correction against an arbitrary single-beam (single-party) error.Comment: realization of a Gaussian error correction protocol suitable for non-Gaussian error correctio

Large electroweak penguin contribution in B -> K pi and pi pi decay modes

We discuss about a possibility of large electroweak penguin contribution in B -> K pi and pi pi from recent experimental data. The experimental data may be suggesting that there are some discrepancies between the data and theoretical estimation in the branching ratios of them. In B -> K pi decays, to explain it, a large electroweak penguin contribution and large strong phase differences seem to be needed. The contributions should appear also in B -> pi pi. We show, as an example, a solution to solve the discrepancies in both B -> K pi and B -> pi pi. However the magnitude of the parameters and the strong phase estimated from experimental data are quite large compared with the theoretical estimations. It may be suggesting some new physics effects are including in these processes. We will have to discuss about the dependence of the new physics. To explain both modes at once, we may need large electroweak penguin contribution with new weak phases and some SU(3) breaking effects by new physics in both QCD and electroweak penguin type processes.Comment: 23 pages, 9 figure

The Oblique Corrections from the Diagonal ETC Interaction

    Get PDF
We study the effect of the diagonal extended technicolor(ETC) gauge boson on the oblique correction parameters. It is shown that in the TT parameter is unacceptably large when the ZbbZbb vertex correction and SS parameter are consistent with the experiments in the ETC model.Comment: 11pages, Latex, uses epic.sty and eepic.sty, 5 figures appended as a uuencoded compressed ps-fil
