PubMedID: 1702658Zinc, copper, and magnesium concentrations in hair were measured in groups of children varying in one condition-protein-energy malnutrition, ricketts, thalassemia, malignancy, cardiac failure, or after prolonged infection and in healthy controls. As compared with controls, copper and magnesium concentrations were low in all groups, whereas higher values were obtained for hair zinc. These results showed that a generalized copper and magnesium deficiency were observed in the southeastern part of Turkey. However, zinc deficiency couldn't be detected as far as the hair zinc values were concerned, although all of the subjects fell within the 50 percentile limits for their age-appropriate weights and heights. © 1990 Humana Press Inc

Objective: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common psychiatric disorders of childhood, characterized by difficulties in academic field, peer relationships and family life. The aim of this study is to determine the strategies for coping with stress in adolescents diagnosed with ADHD and to evaluate the relationship between the coping strategies they used and the problems they encounter in daily life. Material and Methods: The sample of the study consists of patients with ADHD (n=40) between the ages of 12-17 and a healthy control group (n=26). As data collection tools; sociodemographic data form, Conners-Wells adolescent self-report scale long form and coping strategies short form were used. Results: It was determined that dysfunctional coping total scores were higher in the ADHD group than the control group. When the subscales were examined, it was determined that the denial and behavioral disengagement subscale scores were significantly higher in the ADHD group. Planning was found to be lower in the ADHD group. With the emotionally centered coping score/revealing emotions method, the total scores of family problems, ADHD Index, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition (DSM-IV) Hyperactivity/Impulsivity and DSM-IV were positive and moderate; A positive, high-intensity relationship was found between emotional problems. Conclusion: It was concluded that adolescents diagnosed with ADHD used more emotionally focused and dysfunctional coping strategies compared to the control group, and the relationship between the coping methods used and symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity was different from each other. La0.8Sr0.2Ga0.83Mg0.17O2.815 (LSGM) materials are synthesized with a fast and facile cellulose templating method for the first time and characterized by XRD, EIS, Archimedes method and SEM-EDS. LSGM powders with a phase purity of 91.7 mol% are obtained after the calcination at 1300 degrees C for 12h. SEM-EDS results indicate possible decomposition and reconstruction of the LSGM phase due to the diffusion of Sr-rich species to the grain boundaries for the sample sintered at 1500 degrees C for 6 h. Maximum conductivity value is found to be 4.2 x 10(-2) S cm(-1) at 800 degrees C for the sample calcined at 1300 degrees C for 12 h and sintered at 1400 degrees C for 6 h. Phase purity, stability and relative density are the important factors for obtaining high performance LSGM electrolytes. Therefore, cellulose templating method is a promising candidate for the preparation of LSGM electrolytes. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved
