The holomorphic anomaly for open string moduli

    Get PDF
We complete the holomorphic anomaly equations for topological strings with their dependence on open moduli. We obtain the complete system by standard path integral arguments generalizing the analysis of BCOV (Commun. Math. Phys. 165 (1994) 311) to strings with boundaries. We study both the anti-holomorphic dependence on open moduli and on closed moduli in presence of Wilson lines. By providing the compactification a' la Deligne-Mumford of the moduli space of Riemann surfaces with boundaries, we show that the open holomorphic anomaly equations are structured on the (real codimension one) boundary components of this space.Comment: 1+14 pages, 6 figures! v2: ref. added v3: section 4 expanded, 1+17 pages, 11 figures!!, to be publ. in JHE

Considering ergonomics in the accident and emergency department: possible or not

Accident and Emergency Department is one of the medical treatment departments that deal with emergency medicine, where patients come without making any appointment in advance. In Malaysia, it was known as Casualty Department previously. The nature of Accident and Emergency Department is complex due to the unpredictability of this department, Accident and Emergency Department is a workplace for multiple types of individuals. This study looked into the numbers of studies that has been carried out in area of ergonomics at Emergency Department of Malaysia Hospitals compared to other department. Numbers of studies are compared to see the loop that exists in Accident and Emergency Department when it comes to ergonomics. This paper will see the ergonomics issues face by healthcare personnel compares to other department in hospitals. Findings showed that, Accident and Emergency Department of Malaysia Hospitals has not been given enough attention regarding the implementation or ergonomics

From Commodity Fetishism to Commodity Narcissism

Marketing and consumer researchers have taken an increasing interest in the prevalence of and possibilities for enlightened consumerism. Contemporary studies show us, though, that ethically concerned consumers rarely act on their concerns – instead they act as if they were unenlightened about the negative effects of their consumption. The paper advances a theory for this contradiction that draws on Marx’s work on commodity fetishism and Freud’s analysis of sexual fetishism. In an attempt to reconcile the structural contexts of contemporary consumption with the psychic structures of the consuming subject proposed by each theorist, the paper concludes that narcissism, rather than fetishism, offers an explanation of this as if moment of contemporary consumption
