    Neural View-Interpolation for Sparse Light Field Video

    We suggest representing light field (LF) videos as "one-off" neural networks (NN), i.e., a learned mapping from view-plus-time coordinates to high-resolution color values, trained on sparse views. Initially, this sounds like a bad idea for three main reasons: First, a NN LF will likely have less quality than a same-sized pixel basis representation. Second, only few training data, e.g., 9 exemplars per frame are available for sparse LF videos. Third, there is no generalization across LFs, but across view and time instead. Consequently, a network needs to be trained for each LF video. Surprisingly, these problems can turn into substantial advantages: Other than the linear pixel basis, a NN has to come up with a compact, non-linear i.e., more intelligent, explanation of color, conditioned on the sparse view and time coordinates. As observed for many NN however, this representation now is interpolatable: if the image output for sparse view coordinates is plausible, it is for all intermediate, continuous coordinates as well. Our specific network architecture involves a differentiable occlusion-aware warping step, which leads to a compact set of trainable parameters and consequently fast learning and fast execution

    The development, use and operation of the XTRAN2L program that solves the two dimensional unsteady transonic small disturbance potential equation are described. The XTRAN2L program is used to calculate steady and unsteady transonic flow fields about airfoils and is capable of performing self contained transonic flutter calculations. Operation of the XTRAN2L code is described, and tables defining all input variables, including default values, are presented. Sample cases that use various program options are shown to illustrate operation of XTRAN2L. Computer listings containing input and selected output are included as an aid to the user

For sequences related by the geometric composition of Lagrangian correspondences we establish an isomorphism of the Floer cohomologies.     THz-range free-electron laser ESR spectroscopy: techniques and applications in high magnetic fields

    The successful use of picosecond-pulse free-electron-laser (FEL) radiation for the continuous-wave THz-range electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy has been demonstrated. The combination of two linac-based FELs (covering the wavelength range of 4 - 250 μ\mum) with pulsed magnetic fields up to 70 T allows for multi-frequency ESR spectroscopy in a frequency range of 1.2 - 75 THz with a spectral resolution better than 1%. The performance of the spectrometer is illustrated with ESR spectra obtained in the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and the low-dimensional organic material (C6_6H9_9N2_2)CuCl3_3.Comment: 9 pages, 9 figures.     Pharmacokinetics of recombinant human erythropoietin applied subcutaneously to children with chronic renal failure

    The single-dose pharmacokinetics of recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEPO) given SC was investigated in 20 patients aged 7-20 years at different stages of chronic renal failure. In a pilot study we confirmed the lower bioavailability of the drug in 2 children when given SC compared with the IV route (24% and 43%, respectively). Following administration of 4,000 units/m2, rHuEPO SC effective serum erythropoietin concentrations increased from a mean baseline level (+/- SD) of 23 +/- 13 units/l to a mean peak concentration of 265 +/- 123 units/l, which was reached after 14.3 +/- 9.4 h, followed by a slow decline until baseline values were attained at 72 h. Mean residence time was 30 +/- 9 h and mean elimination half-time 14.3 +/- 7 h. The single-dose kinetics of SC rHuEPO in children with different degrees of renal failure are comparable to those in adult patients. Possibly, the higher efficacy of SC rHuEPO in patients with renal anaemia compared with IV rHuEPO is related to its prolonged action
