Coherent states, Path integral, and Semiclassical approximation
Using the generalized coherent states we argue that the path integral
formulae for and (in the discrete series) are WKB exact,if
the starting point is expressed as the trace of with
being given by a linear combination of generators. In our case,WKB
approximation is achieved by taking a large ``spin'' limit: . The result is obtained directly by knowing that the each coefficient
vanishes under the () expansion and is examined by another
method to be legitimated. We also point out that the discretized form of path
integral is indispensable, in other words, the continuum path integral
expression leads us to a wrong result. Therefore a great care must be taken
when some geometrical action would be adopted, even if it is so beautiful, as
the starting ingredient of path integral.Comment: latex 33 pages and 2 figures(uuencoded postscript file),

Universal charge transport of the Mn oxides in the high temperature limit
We have found that various Mn oxides have the universal resistivity and
thermopower in the high temperature limit. The resistivities and thermopowers
of all the samples go toward constant values of 71 mcm and
3 V/K, which are independent of carrier density and crystal
structures. We propose that the electric conduction occurs in a highly
localized way in the high temperature limit, where the exchange of entropy and
charge occurs in the neighboring Mn and Mn ions.Comment: 4 pages, 4 eps figures, to be published in J. Appl. Phy
Thermoelectric properties of the layered Pd oxide R_2PdO_4 (R = La, Nd, Sm and Gd)
We prepared polycrystalline samples of RPdO (R = La, Nd, Sm and Gd)
using a NaCl-flux technique. The measured resistivity is of the order of
10 cm at room temperature, which is two orders of magnitude
smaller than the values reported so far. We further studied the substitution
effects of Ce for Nd in NdCePdO, where the substituted Ce
decreases the resistivity and the magnitude of the thermopower. The activation
energy gap of 70-80 meV and the effective mass of 15 evaluated from the
measured data are suitable for thermoelectric materials, but the mobility of
10 cm/Vs is much lower than a typical value of 1-10 cm/Vs for
other thermoelectric oxides.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figures, to appear in J. Phys. Soc. Jp
Photon generation by laser-Compton scattering at the KEK-ATF
We performed a photon generation experiment by laser-Compton scattering at
the KEK-ATF, aiming to develop a Compton based polarized positron source for
linear colliders. In the experiment, laser pulses with a 357 MHz repetition
rate were accumulated and their power was enhanced by up to 250 times in the
Fabry-Perot optical resonant cavity. We succeeded in synchronizing the laser
pulses and colliding them with the 1.3 GeV electron beam in the ATF ring while
maintaining the laser pulse accumulation in the cavity. As a result, we
observed 26.0 +/- 0.1 photons per electron-laser pulse crossing, which
corresponds to a yield of 10^8 photons in a second.Comment: 3 pages, 5 figures, Preprint submitted to TIPP09 Proceedings in NIM
Presence of vascular endothelial growth factor during the first half of IVM improves the meiotic and developmental competence of porcine oocytes from small follicles
The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) on the meiotic and developmental competence of porcine oocytes from small follicles (SF; 0.5-3mm diameter). When cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) from medium-sized follicles (MF; 3-6mm diameter) and SF were cultured for IVM, the maturation rates were significantly higher for oocytes from MF than SF. Concentrations of VEGF in the medium were significantly higher for COCs cultured from MF than SF. When COCs from SF were exposed to 200ngmL-1 VEGF during the first 20h of IVM, the maturation rate improved significantly and was similar to that of oocytes derived from MF. The fertilisability of oocytes was also significantly higher than that of VEGF-free SF controls. Following parthenogenetic activation, the blastocyst formation rate improved significantly when SF COC culture was supplemented with 200ngmL-1 VEGF, with the rate similar to that of oocytes from MF. The results of the present study indicate that VEGF markedly improves the meiotic and developmental competence of oocytes derived from SF, especially at a concentration of 200ngmL-1 during the first 20h of IVM
Effect of time-correlation of input patterns on the convergence of on-line learning
We studied the effects of time correlation of subsequent patterns on the
convergence of on-line learning by a feedforward neural network with
backpropagation algorithm. By using chaotic time series as sequences of
correlated patterns, we found that the unexpected scaling of converging time
with learning parameter emerges when time-correlated patterns accelerate
learning process.Comment: 8 pages(Revtex), 5 figure
