Relative entropy of entanglement for certain multipartite mixed states
We prove conjectures on the relative entropy of entanglement (REE) for two
families of multipartite qubit states. Thus, analytic expressions of REE for
these families of states can be given. The first family of states are composed
of mixture of some permutation-invariant multi-qubit states. The results
generalized to multi-qudit states are also shown to hold. The second family of
states contain D\"ur's bound entangled states. Along the way, we have discussed
the relation of REE to two other measures: robustness of entanglement and
geometric measure of entanglement, slightly extending previous results.Comment: Single column, 22 pages, 9 figures, comments welcom

Coal mine low power laser methane detection and alarm instrument
At present, the portable carrier catalytic methane detection and alarm instrument for coal mine generally has many problems, such as high power consumption, short standby time, low detection accuracy, few parameters and single function, which can not meet the rapid development needs of mine safety. In this paper, a low power portable laser methane detection and alarm instrument based on tunable laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) is designed. The instrument can detect methane concentration, ambient temperature and ambient pressure at the same time. It has the functions of sound and light alarm, historical data storage and query, and integrates Wi-Fi to realize data wireless transmission. The instrument can work continuously for 36 hours, and the response time is less than 15 seconds. It has the function of self-diagnosis. The overall performance of the instrument has been greatly improved compared with the traditional mine methane portable instrument. A mobile methane alarm Internet of things(IOT) system for coal mine based on portable instrument has been developed, which realizes real-time upload of data and cloud analysis, makes the traditional mine gas monitoring and control system powerfully supplemented, greatly improves the detection level of coal mine gas, and has broad application prospects
Indication of intrinsic spin Hall effect in 4d and 5d transition metals
We have investigated spin Hall effects in 4 and 5 transition metals,
Nb, Ta, Mo, Pd and Pt, by incorporating the spin absorption method in the
lateral spin valve structure; where large spin current preferably relaxes into
the transition metals, exhibiting strong spin-orbit interactions. Thereby
nonlocal spin valve measurements enable us to evaluate their spin Hall
conductivities. The sign of the spin Hall conductivity changes systematically
depending on the number of electrons. This tendency is in good agreement
with the recent theoretical calculation based on the intrinsic spin Hall
effect.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
Simulation Subsumption or Déjà vu on the Web
Simulation unification is a special kind of unification adapted to retrieving semi-structured data on the Web. This article introduces simulation subsumption, or containment, that is, query subsumption under simulation unification. Simulation subsumption is crucial in general for query optimization, in particular for optimizing pattern-based search engines, and for the termination of recursive rule-based web languages such as the XML and RDF query language Xcerpt. This paper first motivates and formalizes simulation subsumption. Then, it establishes decidability of simulation subsumption for advanced query patterns featuring descendant constructs, regular expressions, negative subterms (or subterm exclusions), and multiple variable occurrences. Finally, we show that subsumption between two query terms can be decided in O(n!n) where n is the sum of the sizes of both query terms
Conductance spectra of metallic nanotube bundles
We report a first principles analysis of electronic transport characteristics
for (n,n) carbon nanotube bundles. When n is not a multiple of 3, inter-tube
coupling causes universal conductance suppression near Fermi level regardless
of the rotational arrangement of individual tubes. However, when n is a
multiple of 3, the bundles exhibit a diversified conductance dependence on the
orientation details of the constituent tubes. The total energy of the bundle is
also sensitive to the orientation arrangement only when n is a multiple of 3.
All the transport properties and band structures can be well understood from
the symmetry consideration of whether the rotational symmetry of the individual
tubes is commensurate with that of the bundle
Suppression of low-energy Andreev states by a supercurrent in YBa_2Cu_3O_7-delta
We report a coherence-length scale phenomenon related to how the high-Tc
order parameter (OP) evolves under a directly-applied supercurrent. Scanning
tunneling spectroscopy was performed on current-carrying YBa_2Cu_3O_7-delta
thin-film strips at 4.2K. At current levels well below the theoretical
depairing limit, the low-energy Andreev states are suppressed by the
supercurrent, while the gap-like structures remain unchanged. We rule out the
likelihood of various extrinsic effects, and propose instead a model based on
phase fluctuations in the d-wave BTK formalism to explain the suppression. Our
results suggest that a supercurrent could weaken the local phase coherence
while preserving the pairing amplitude. Other possible scenarios which may
cause the observed phenomenon are also discussed.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, to appear in Physical Review
Comparative approaches for assessing access to alcohol outlets: exploring the utility of a gravity potential approach.
BackgroundA growing body of research recommends controlling alcohol availability to reduce harm. Various common approaches, however, provide dramatically different pictures of the physical availability of alcohol. This limits our understanding of the distribution of alcohol access, the causes and consequences of this distribution, and how best to reduce harm. The aim of this study is to introduce both a gravity potential measure of access to alcohol outlets, comparing its strengths and weaknesses to other popular approaches, and an empirically-derived taxonomy of neighborhoods based on the type of alcohol access they exhibit.MethodsWe obtained geospatial data on Seattle, including the location of 2402 alcohol outlets, United States Census Bureau estimates on 567 block groups, and a comprehensive street network. We used exploratory spatial data analysis and employed a measure of inter-rater agreement to capture differences in our taxonomy of alcohol availability measures.ResultsSignificant statistical and spatial variability exists between measures of alcohol access, and these differences have meaningful practical implications. In particular, standard measures of outlet density (e.g., spatial, per capita, roadway miles) can lead to biased estimates of physical availability that over-emphasize the influence of the control variables. Employing a gravity potential approach provides a more balanced, geographically-sensitive measure of access to alcohol outlets.ConclusionsAccurately measuring the physical availability of alcohol is critical for understanding the causes and consequences of its distribution and for developing effective evidence-based policy to manage the alcohol outlet licensing process. A gravity potential model provides a superior measure of alcohol access, and the alcohol access-based taxonomy a helpful evidence-based heuristic for scholars and local policymakers
