Temperature dependent optical properties of -GaO thin films
We determined the complex dielectric functions of -GaO
using optical transmittance and reflectance spectroscopies at temperatures from
10 K to room temperature. The measured dielectric-function spectra reveal
distinct structures at a bandgap energy. We fitted a model dielectric function
based on the electronic energy-band structure to these experimental data. We
analyzed the temperature dependence of the band-gap with a model based on
phonon dispersion effects. One could explain it in terms of phonon-related
parameters such as the optical phonon temperature. We compare phonon-related
properties of -GaO with those of a large variety of
element and binary semiconductors.Comment: 10 pages, 6 png figures, using arxiv.st
Thermal Transport Imaging in the Quantum Hall Edge Channel
Research focused on heat transport in the quantum Hall (QH) edge channel has
successfully addressed fundamental theoretical questions surrounding the QH
physics. However, the picture of the edge channel is complicated by the
phenomenon of energy dissipation out of the edge, and theories treating this
dissipation are lacking. More experimental data is also needed to determine the
coupling mechanism by which energy leaves the edge channel. We developed a
method to map the heat transport in the QH edge to study the dissipation of
heat. We locally heated the QH edge and locally detected the temperature
increase while continuously varying the distance between heater and
thermometer. We thereby obtained the thermal decay length of the edge state,
which we found to depend on magnetic field strength
Analisis Komparatif Evaluasi Performa Algoritma Klasifikasi Pada Readmisi Pasien Diabetes
. Readmission is associated with quality measures on patients in hospitals. Different attributes related to diabetic patients such as medication, ethnicity, race, lifestyle, age, and others result in the calculation of quality care that tends to be complicated. Classification techniques of data mining can solve this problem. In this paper, the evaluation on three different classifiers, i.e. Decision Tree, k-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN), dan Naive Bayes with various settingparameter, is developed by using 10-Fold Cross Validation technique. The targets of parameter performance evaluated is based on term of Accuracy, Mean Absolute Error (MAE), dan Kappa Statistic. The selected dataset consists of 47 attributes and 49.735 records. The result shows that k-NN classifier with k=100 has a better performance in term of accuracy and Kappa Statistic, but Naive Bayes outperforms in term of MAE among other classifiers
Impact of the introduction of apple snails and their control in Japan
The apple snail, Pomacea canaliculata, was imported into Japan and cultured extensively for food in the early 1980s. Not long after, escaped or discarded snails became feral and started feeding on rice seedlings and other aquatic plants. This was especially noted in Kyushu in southern Japan. Snails are still proliferating, but the area of damaged rice is not increasing as fast, mainly because of the success of snail control. Currently, the most effective methods of avoiding damage to rice are keeping water shallow, transplanting older seedlings and, in some cases, using molluscicides or repellents. However, these methods have almost no effect on damage by snail feeding when rice fields are flooded. The apple snail is believed to be the most important obstacle to the spread of direct-sowing culture of rice in Kyushu. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has launched a national project for the integrated management of the snail under direct sowing culture of rice in Kyushu. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has launched a national project for the integrated management of the snail under direct-sowing rice culture. Some recent results from this project are briefly reviewed in this paper
Nuclear Spins in a Nanoscale Device for Quantum Information Processing
Coherent oscillations between any two levels from four nuclear spin states of
I=3/2 have been demonstrated in a nanometre-scale NMR semiconductor device,
where nuclear spins are all-electrically controlled. Using this device, we
discuss quantum logic operations on two fictitious qubits of the I=3/2 system,
and propose a quantum state tomography scheme based on the measurement of

Nanometre-scale nuclear-spin device for quantum information processing
We have developed semiconductor point contact devices in which nuclear spins
in a nanoscale region are coherently controlled by all-electrical methods.
Different from the standard nuclear-magnetic resonance technique, the
longitudinal magnetization of nuclear spins is directly detected by measuring
resistance, resulting in ultra-sensitive detection of the microscopic quantity
of nuclear spins. All possible coherent oscillations have been successfully
demonstrated between two levels from four nuclear spin states of I = 3/2
nuclei. Quantum information processing is discussed based on two fictitious
qubits of an I = 3/2 system and methods are described for performing arbitrary
logical gates both on one and two qubits. A scheme for quantum state tomography
based on Mz-detection is also proposed. As the starting point of quantum
manipulations, we have experimentally prepared the effective pure states for
the I = 3/2 nuclear spin system.Comment: 16 pages, 5 figure
Deprojection technique for galaxy cluster considering point spread function
We present a new method for the analysis of Abell 1835 observed by
XMM-Newton. The method is a combination of the Direct Demodulation technique
and deprojection. We eliminate the effects of the point spread function (PSF)
with the Direct Demodulation technique. We then use a traditional depro-jection
technique to study the properties of Abell 1835. Compared to that of
deprojection method only, the central electron density derived from this method
increases by 30%, while the temperature profile is similar.Comment: accepted for publication in Sciences in China -- G, the Black Hole
