The influence of tram tracks on car vehicle speed and noise emission at four-approach intersections located on multilane arteries in cities
In the article the mathematical models and results of research conducted at the intersection located on multilane artery in big city in Poland have been presented. The research allowed to describe the relationship between the speed of car vehicles and the occurrence of the tram tracks, which may be important in determining the empirical capacity of intersections located on multilane arteries in cities. This dependency may be used when updating the methods of estimation of the capacity of road intersections in Poland [1], what is the original achievement of the authors. Moreover, the results of research of noise emission in the aspect of speed change of car vehicles and the occurrence of the tram tracks have been presented. In addition, the research problem is of particular importance in the process of selecting the intersection type, which is very important during the planning and organizing traffic at intersections located in cities, where the development of the tram infrastructure is being observed
Benefits from Implementing the EPLOS System in Logistics Companies
Logistics companies are currently differently using IT tools to assist the planning of their operational activity. The functionalities of tools are also different. It also presents a review of IT solutions used by TSL (transport, shipping, logistics) companies and the functionality of these tools. This allowed for the assessment of the potential of the EPLOS system to be used in TSL companies, as well as the benefits of implementing this system. In the paper, the selected results of a survey made in companies about the crucial data needed for efficient operating were presented. The summary indicates the main features that software should have in the era of the Industry 4.0 revolution
An Integrated EPLOS Database as a Tool Supporting TSL Companies
The paper presents the conceptual design of a database for the European Portal of Logistics Services (EPLOS) and its application. The database contains the data on logistics companies, the infrastructure for road, railway, inland, and air transport, as well as the data on the nodal elements of logistics infrastructure (warehouse facilities, seaports, transhipment terminals). Complete and verified information is the fundamental condition for rational decisions about the realization of logistics processes on a meso- and macroeconomic scale. Authors present the relations in the making of the EPLOS database, its assumed scope, and the potential benefits for the TSL market from accessing the EPLOS database
The method for evaluation of efficiency of the concept of centrally managed distribution in cities
The paper describes proecological solution dedicated for organizing logistics services in urban areas. Proposed solution is based on cross-docking processes combined with consolidation centres. Authors proposed new method of estimating economic and social benefits from implementing centrally managed cooperation of logistics operators using common city consolidation hubs. Developed mathematical model bases on Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) with vehicles of different types, limited loading capacities and multiply depots characterized by limited throughput. Proposed approach was supported by case study of integration of distribution processes in Warsaw (Poland) performed by three medium-size logistics operators. The central management of distribution was investigated in variants assuming using existing warehouses and with new configuration of logistics network developed with using SIMMAG 3D tools. As it was proved for analysed case, total costs of distribution in the city after implementation of centrally managed distribution were reduced by 8.1% for variant with current depots and by 26.5% for variant with new logistics network, while emission of carbon monoxide (CO) was reduced respectively by 7.8 and 16.7%
Route Planning with Dynamic Information from the EPLOS System
The paper presents the problem of distribution route planning with dynamic information about sudden customers\u27 needs. Particular attention was paid to dynamic vehicle route planning and its influence on the distance covered by a distribution vehicle. In the article, authors assume that the quick information about customers’ sudden needs is transferred from the EPLOS tool data base. Authors analyze the available literature on transport route optimization and propose a solution to the problem of distribution among customers with sudden needs. In order to present the impact of quick information influence on the distribution route minimization, a simulation model of the vehicle routing problem was generated in the FlexSim environment
Transport Co-Modality and Intermodal Transshipment Terminals
Co-modality means the efficient use of transport modes operating on their own or in multimodal integration in the European transport system to reach an optimal and sustainable exploitation of resources. Due to the growing demand for freight transport high efficiency and co-modality of different branches of transport in the European transport system are imperative. The basic criterion for assessing the effectiveness of all the available and proposed solutions must be economical bill, complex conducted both in terms of micro (at the level of each customer) and macro (at the level of the whole transport sector), endearing issues of economic, ecology, social, etc. An important aspect are the additional costs such as those related to the creation of new element of infrastructure, especially point elements of infrastructure

Evaluation of the technological process of wagon processing at shunting stations using the simulation model
Shunting stations play an essential role in ensuring the proper functioning of the railway transport system. The proper organisation of their work allows trains to be dispatched on time and compensates for delays in other areas of the railway network. This paper presents a method for evaluating the technological process of wagon processing at shunting stations based on the author's formulation of evaluation measures and using a simulation model developed in Flexsim. A variant computational example was developed to verify it and demonstrate its capabilities. The method has many applications in assisting decision-makers in organising shunting station operations, adapting the shunting station layout to the tasks or identifying bottlenecks
Documents flow digitization in the supply chains
Narzędzie to łączy najnowsze rozwiązania technologiczne celem usprawnienia przepływu dokumentów transportowych. Artykuł zakończono podsumowaniem, wskazując na potencjał wykorzystania nowoczesnych rozwiązań, a także na brak barier technologicznych, jednak podkreślono istniejące bariery natury legislacyjnej. The globalization of markets has resulted in the need to develop supply chains and ensure efficient connections between entities in various remote locations. The dissemination of information technologies has made it possible to increase the excellence of the supply chain, responding to the needs arising from globalization and thus influencing the efficiency of the processes carried out by optimizing the use of resources and implementing new management strategies. Information transfer between its links significantly impacts the supply chain's reliability, safety, and costs of material flow. The introduction of electronic communication significantly accelerated and facilitated the transfer of information and, in some areas, made it possible to abandon traditional paper documentation. Modern digital technologies such as blockchain have the potential to eliminate paper documentation while increasing the security and certainty of the transferred data. This article analyzes the current flow of information and documents in the supply chain. The article presents the characteristics of the supply chain operation in terms of the flow of information accompanying the flow of cargo and the digitization of document circulation in the digital supply chain in the context of using electronic data interchange (EDI) or blockchain. The ELECTRA tool was presented concerning the discussed area, which is being developed as part of the ongoing project (Electronic Waybill for Combined Transport and Forwarding) in the EUREKA initiative, financed by the National Center for Research and Development. This tool combines the latest technological solutions to improve the flow of transport documents. The article ended with a summary, pointing to the potential of using modern solutions and the lack of technological barriers. However, the existing legislative barriers were emphasized
