The Study of Group and Team Management in Agribusiness Companies

    No full text
For almost three decades now that the operation of groups and teams became highlighted by scientific examinations and widespread acknowledged leverage for improving corporate efficiency and effectiveness. Much is known about general conditions of operation, still little is known about managerial attitudes, behaviour in operating them. Considering the agribusiness sector, we have hundreds of years of traditions; although operational rules, internal properties, managerial aspects are poorly acknowledged. The Department of Management of University of Debrecen has been conducting research in this field for many years now. Its research program enabled me to work out a questionnaire for surveying agribusiness organizations so that I could identify major and typical characteristics of performance groups. In this article I intend to more precisely describe internal rules, relations and characteristics of this phenomenon

METHODOLOGICAL QUESTIONS OF A SURVEY OF CIVIL ORGANIZATIONS

Today, the non-profit sector, and especially the role of civil organizations, has become significant in society. In Hungary there has been a large development in the past 20 years, in the non-profit sector, as the number of such organizations has quadrupled. The number of classic civil organizations (foundations and associations) makes up more than 80% of the non-profit sector. The social attendance, economic significance and affect often raise the issue of the true intensity of the sphere and also the question of why there are such vast differences between the conditions of function, human resources and how successful they are. For years now, with management related examination, we have been searching for the answers to the above questions, within the confines of the functional aspect research program of the Institute of Management and Organization in University of Debrecen, Centre for Agricultural and Applied Economic Sciences, Faculty of Applied Economics and Rural Development. Above all, we made an attempt to find general, management- related results and answers, with the use of probability sampling, a low number of samples and surveying. In the selection process of organizations to include in our research, we relied on the data base of the Court of HajdĂș-Bihar County and with K-aspect systematic sampling, and we also questioned more than 140 managers from different organizations. With this research, we acquired a diverse collection of information, which now we intend to summarize within this article. With this article, we aim to find out how realistic a picture the database of the Court gives regarding the civil activity of the county. Even the sampling was not trouble free, since the entire database is not accessible. The survey also revealed some problems that confirmed the statement of the Central Statistic Office (KSH), i.e. that some organizations either do not function at all or function in name only

Nowadays the sport related civic organizations form a special segment within the civic sector. In particular, the current situation of these organizations – who are operating in rural settlements – should be considered as special. In rural settlements the local sport related civic organizations by all means could be justified to make a difference on the basis of an essential aspect, that how they secure the funds from the external sources, and because of certain aspects it is closely related with the local politics. The purpose of our study was to investigate through the example of a small rural town in Hungary, that what kind of subsidies can the locally registered sport related civic organizations can get by focusing on the local football club’s results and the subsidies which were granted to the club between 2007 and 2015. We were also curious about, that is there any possible connection between the club’s performance and these certified subsidies

Effects of long-term, low and high dose beta-carotene treatment in Zucker diabetic fatty rats: the role of HO-1

Abstract: Nowadays, there is a growing interest in compounds derived from plants as potential raw materials for drug development. One of the most studied compounds is beta-carotene (BC). Several clinical studies can be found investigating the cardiovascular effects of BC, however, all these results are controversial. There is increasing body of evidence showing that beside the well-known antioxidant properties, under strong oxidative circumstances BC could become prooxidant either. In this study we investigated the effects of long term, low- and high-dose BC treatment in ischemic/reperfused (ISA/REP) hearts isolated from zucker diabetic fatty (ZDF) rats. The animals were treated with various daily doses of BC for 4 weeks, and then hearts were isolated and subjected to 30 min of global ischemia (ISA) followed by 120 min of reperfusion (REP). Blood glucose levels were measured before, after two weeks and at the end of the treatment. In isolated hearts myocardial function was registered. At the end of reperfusion period infarctract size (IS) and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) expression were measured. The results show that low dose of BC treatment significantly improved postischemic recovery, which was reflected in a decreased IS. Interestingly, when BC was applied at high concentration, the observed protective effects were lost. Although, BC treatment increased HO-1 expression, we did not observe a better heart function and/or decreased IS in the high dose treated group. The glucose tolerance test showed concentration independent decrease in blood glucose levels. Our results suggest that long-term, low-dose BC treatment could be effective in the treatment of type-2-diabetes and related cardiovascular disease
