    ASSESSMENT OF LEADERSHIP STYLE AMONG HOSPITALITY BUSINESS IN ABUJA

    ABSTRACT Leadership is a key factor for the success of business. The main objective of this study is to assess the leadership style employed by various hospitality businesses with a view to determine the most efficient and effective leadership style suitable for the sector that could lead to success in other to curb or reduce failure of hospitality business. Data were collected from twelve hospitality organizational units cutting across directors, managers, and supervisors, through a survey questionnaire carried out in hospitality facilities made of four numbers each of the three different grade of the hospitality industry in Nigeria (five star, three, one). Data gathered was analysed using weighted mean factor and component bar chart. Also focus group discussion was employed to strengthen and collaborated evidence and findings from field observation by the author. The finding shows that amongst the various leadership styles used in the hospitality industry, transformational leadership is most effective for the industry. The study recommended that for hospitality business to be successful, it must adhere to keeping good staff, gain employee and guest/customers loyalty that improve their market share. The transformational leadership style has the highest degree of positive effect on hospitality sector that can produce business success result for the industry

    This study assesses the impact of recruitment practices on the organisation performance in the hospitality industry in Abuja. The effectiveness of recruitment practices in the process of procurement of the most suitable employee that would enable hospitality business to achieve her organisational objectives is pertinent to this research study. The present inability of hospitality business to attract and engage best suitable employee with the right knowledge skills and altitude to steer the day to day operation of the business, high turnover of hospitality employee and how best recruitment practices can impact positively on organisation performance in the hospitality industry is the major focus of this research. The hospitality business fall into three major categories of hospitality business grading (five star, three star, and one star) by the Nigeria tourism development corporation.     Hospitality is currently the fasted growing economic activity in Abuja-Nigeria. It has also been instrumental in creating jobs and has significant impact on other sectors of economic growth. Based on the above factors much attention need to be placed on the quality of the hospitality industry in Abuja-Nigeria in other to systematic compete with other destinations. Quality assurance is becoming an increasing integral component of the service industry. However, despite some indication that quality assurances are receiving attention in the hospitality industry, its adoption continues to be very slow.     Influence of Entrepreneurial Innovation on Sustainable Solid: Waste Recycling in Abuja, Nigeria

    One of the most serious challenges that city dwellers face in a developing nation is unsatisfactory solid waste management. This research investigates the impact of entrepreneurial innovation in solid waste recycling capacity in Abuja, federal capital city of Nigeria. The study employs a survey approach entailing the use of questionnaire for primary data collection. The data collected were analysed using a regression statistical technique. The findings of the study reveal that entrepreneurial activities can be used to enhance competencies in sustainable solid waste management in Abuja, Nigeria. Specifically, we found that entrepreneurial innovation has a significant positive effect on solid waste recycling capacity (p < 0.01). The study concludes that entrepreneurial innovation will encourage efficiency and effectiveness in solid waste recycling practices in Abuja, Nigeria. The study, therefore, recommends that the government should put in place structures that encourage entrepreneurial innovation in solid management so as to enhance the sustainable solid waste recycling capacity in Abuja, Nigeria. Solid waste recycling has long been thought of as playing an important role in solid waste management. This research affirms that entrepreneurial innovation would aid the improvement of the solid waste recycling capacity thereby optimising the chances of achieving sustainable solid waste management in Abuja, Nigeria. Currently there is a paucity of studies that examine the effects of entrepreneurial innovation specifically on solid waste recycling and sustainable development in Abuja, Nigeria. This study contributes an important additional dimension in the search for sustainable solid waste management in Abuja, Nigeria
