Isometries and Equivalences Between Point Configurations, Extended To ε\varepsilon-diffeomorphisms

In this paper, we deal with the Orthogonal Procrustes Problem, in which two point configurations are compared in order to construct a map to optimally align the two sets. This extends this to ε\varepsilon-diffeomorphisms, introduced by [1] Damelin and Fefferman. Examples will be given for when complete maps can not be constructed, for if the distributions do match, and finally an algorithm for partitioning the configurations into polygons for convenient construction of the maps.Comment: version: 11.26.1

Performance of Hughes GaAs concentrator cells under 1-MeV electron irradiation

    Get PDF
Several Hughes gallium arsenide (GaAs) concentrator cells were exposed to 1-MeV electrons at fluences up to 1x10 to the 15th power electrons/sq cm. Performance data were taken after several fluences, at two temperatures, and at concentration levels from 1 to approx. 150x AMO. Data at 1 sun and 25 deg C were taken with an X-25 xenon-lamp solar simulator. Data at concentration were taken using a pulsed solar simulator with the assumption of a linear relationship between short-circuit current and irradiance. The cells are 5 by 5 mm with a 4-mm diameter illuminated area

Performance of GaAs and silicon concentrator cells under 37 MeV proton irradiation

Gallium arsenide concentrator cells from three sources and silicon concentrator cells from one source were exposed to 37 MeV protons at fluences up to 2.8 x 10 to the 12th protons/sq cm. Performance data were taken after several fluences, at two temperatures (25 and 80 C), and at concentration levels from 1 to about 150 x AMO. Data at one sun and 25 C were taken with an X-25 xenon lamp solar simulator. Data at concentration were taken using a pulsed solar simulator with the assumption of a linear relationship between short circuit current and irradiance. The cells are 5 x 5 mm with a 4-mm diameter illuminated area

Techniques in Treating Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse: Problematic Areas in Their Application to the Deaf Population

    Get PDF
Problems exist in identifying and treating deaf survivors of child sexual abuse. Even when they are identified, there are problems in effectively applying existing regimens of therapy to this special population. While main streaming the deaf person into society seems to be the wave of the future, and there are positive aspects to this, careful consideration, respect, and acknowledgement must be given to the special culture of the deaf person. Employing existing therapeutic methods, with only the adjustment of supplying an interpreter for the Deaf, may not be enough

Radiation performance of AlGaAs concentrator cells and expected performance of cascade structures

    Get PDF
Aluminum gallium arsenide, GaAs, silicon and InGaAs cells have been irradiated with 1 MeV electrons and 37 MeV protons. These cells are candidates for individual cells in a cascade structure. Data is presented for both electron and proton irradiation studies for one sun and a concentration level of 100X AMO. Results of calculations on the radiation resistance of cascade cell structures based on the individual cell data are also presented. Both series connected and separately connected structures are investigated

This volume is designed to complement and extend the previously published history of The Evolution of the U.S. Navy’s Maritime Strategy, 1977–1986, and to present publicly for the first time the detailed changes and developments that occurred during the decade in the five (now declassified) official versions of the strategy and three directly associated unclassified public statements by successive Chiefs of Naval Operations that were made in the years between 1982 and 1990.https://digital-commons.usnwc.edu/usnwc-newport-papers/1032/thumbnail.jp

Effect of dislocations on properties of heteroepitaxial InP solar cells

    Get PDF
The apparently unrelated phenomena of temperature dependency, carrier removal and photoluminescence are shown to be affected by the high dislocation densities present in heteroepitaxial InP solar cells. Using homoepitaxial InP cells as a baseline, it is found that the relatively high dislocation densities present in heteroepitaxial InP/GaAs cells lead to increased volumes of dVoc/dt and carrier removal rate and substantial decreases in photoluminescence spectral intensities. With respect to dVoc/dt, the observed effect is attributed to the tendency of dislocations to reduce Voc. Although the basic cause for the observed increase in carrier removal rate is unclear, it is speculated that the decreased photoluminescence intensity is attributable to defect levels introduced by dislocations in the heteroepitaxial cells

Contextual batting and bowling in limited overs cricket

    Get PDF
Cricket is a sport for which many batting and bowling statistics have been proposed. However, a feature of cricket is that the level of aggressiveness adopted by batsmen is dependent on match circumstances. It is therefore relevant to consider these circumstances when evaluating batting and bowling performances. This paper considers batting performance in the second innings of limited overs cricket when a target has been set. The runs required, the number of overs completed and the wickets taken are relevant in assessing the batting performance. We produce a visualization for second innings batting which describes how a batsman performs under different circumstances. The visualization is then reduced to a single statistic “clutch batting” which can be used to compare batsmen. An analogous approach is then provided for bowlers based on the symmetry between batting and bowling, and we define the statistic “clutch bowling”
