Influence of professional physical loads on the functional indicators of dental status

The article presents the results of the assessment of occlusalarticulation parameters of the dentofacial system of athletes. During the study, the presence of a “chewing apparatus dysfunction” among athletes in 25.5% was found. According to T-scan III, occlusion disorders are characteristic of all athletes and manifest themselves in premature and super contacts when teeth are closed. The obtained results dictate the need for the development of new therapeutic and preventive methods of correction in athletes

Clinical value of oral fluid chemokines in chronic periodontitis

Activation of cytokine network is one of the key mechanisms in immunopathogenesis of chronic periodontitis (CP), a common dental disease. Therefore, the study of the proteomic (including cytokine) profile of saliva is not coincidentally considered among global research areas in periodontology. However, the existing data on the contents of cytokines / chemokines in oral fluid (OF) in CP are contradictory. This ambiguity of the results can be associated both with a variety of methodological approaches to the cytokine determination, and with different severity of CP in the studied cohorts of patients. Moreover, recent systematic reviews and meta-analyses show that clinical value of chemokines in CP is also not yet determined thus indicating a need for future research in this area.The aim of this study was to assess clinical and diagnostic value of some chemokines from oral fluid in chronic mild periodontitis. The work was based on a study of 18 patients diagnosed with mild chronic periodontitis (MCD-10 K05.3) and 12 practically healthy volunteers with relatively intact periodontal tissue. The diagnosis was based on standard clinical and radiological criteria. In all cases the levels of 8 chemokines were determined using multiparametric fluorescence analysis with magnetic microspheres (xMAP technology, Luminex 200, USA). Statistical analysis was carried out by methods of non-parametric statistics. To determine the predictive value of the test, ROC analysis was performed.It has been shown that CP is accompanied by increased levels of CXCL1 (5.5-fold), CXCL8 (8.1-fold), CXCL12 (3.5-fold), CCL2 (2.7-fold). At the same time, the level of other chemokines did not change significantly. There was a lack of correlations between individual parameters in the group of patients with CP, in contrast to the control group, thus, probably reflecting disturbed mechanisms of “balance” regulation of chemokines. By means of ROC analysis, highly sensitive biomarkers of chronic mild periodontitis were identified. The diagnostic sensitivity and diagnostic specificity were for CXCL1 (91 and 75%, respectively), CXCL8 and CXCL12 (95 and 75%), CCL2 (82 and 75%). The data obtained indicate that the salivary chemokines CXCL1, CXCL8, CXCL10, CXCL12, CCL2 can be considered potential biomarkers of mild chronic periodontitis

The problem of life quolity in patients with herpetic lesion of the face and oral cavity mucosa

The quality of life in medicine includes a set of physical, psychological, emotional and social functioning of a person based on his subjective perception. The appearance of herpetic lesions in a functionally and aesthetically important zone has a significant effect on the quality of life of such patients and makes this problem not only medical, but also social. The aim of the study was to assess the effect of herpetic damage of the facial skin and oral mucosa on the quality of life of patients. The study involved 175 patients with herpes simplex of skin (B00.10, ICD-10, 1997), herpes simplex of lips (B00.11), herpetic gingivostomatitis (B00.2X) between September 2011 and July 2018. For quality assessment of patients, a specialized validated questionnaire for the quality of life "Oral health impact profile" (OHIP-49 RU) (Gileva OS, 2009) was used. In case of recurrence of herpes simplex of the face, lip, herpetic gingivostomatitis, the quality of life decreased by 46.6% (the quality of life index was 91.3 ± 8.1 points) on the vesicular and erosive stage; by 21.6% (42.4 ± 3.1, respectively) at the crust stage. During the remission, the quality of life in such patients does not reach its maximum and was only 96.6% (the quality of life index is 6.7 ± 0.8 points), which is associated with a number of restrictions in daily life.Качество жизни в медицине включает в себя совокупность физического, психологического, эмоционального и социального функционирования человека, основанного на его субъективном восприятии. Появление герпетических высыпаний в функционально и эстетически значимой зоне оказывает существенное влияние на качество жизни таких пациентов, а значит, делает данную проблему не только медицинской, но и социальной. Цель исследования – оценить влияние герпетического поражения кожи лица и слизистой оболочки рта на качество жизни пациентов. В исследовании приняли участие 175 пациентов с диагнозом простой герпес лица (B00.10, МКБ-10, 1997), простой герпес губы (В00.11), герпетический гингивостоматит (В00.2Х) в период с сентября 2011 по июль 2018 г. Для оценки качества жизни пациентов был использован специализированный валидированный опросник качества жизни «Профиль влияния стоматологического здоровья» (OHIP-49 RU) (Гилева О.С., 2009 г.). При возникновении рецидива простого герпеса лица, губы, герпетического гингивостоматита установлено снижение качества жизни на 46,6% (показатель качества жизни - 91,3±8,1 балла) на везикулярной и эрозивной стадии; на 21,6% (42,4±3,1 балла, соответственно) на стадии корки. В период ремиссии качество жизни у таких пациентов не достигает своего максимума и составляет лишь 96,6% (показатель качества жизни - 6,7±0,8 балла), что связано с рядом ограничений в повседневной жизни

Involvement of students of the dental faculty in the implementation of the project "Happy smile"

According to WHO, the prevalence of dental diseases does not tend to decrease. An urgent task today is the development of programs and projects aimed at the health of bearing. Earlier we developed the project "HAPPY SMILE". The aim of this study was to study the involvement of students of the faculty of dentistry in the implementation of this project, and to identify the factors affecting the development of this activity. We have created a questionnaire on the platform "Google Forms". 55 volunteers aged from 18 to 24 years with an equal ratio on a gender basis were interviewed. All respondents are students of dental faculty of 2–5 courses of Ural state medical university. High interest of students of stomatological faculty in carrying out preventive actions is revealed. Participation in the project contributes to the formation of significant professional competencies of students, which improves the quality of training of future dentists.По данным ВОЗ, распространенность стоматологических заболеваний не имеет тенденцию к снижению. Актуальной задачей на сегодняшний день является разработка программ и проектов, направленных на здоровьесбережение несения. Ранее нами был разработан проект «Счастливая улыбка». Целью исследования стало изучение вовлеченности студентов стоматологического факультета в реализацию проекта и выявление факторов, влияющих на развитие данной деятельности. На платформе «Google Forms» нами была создана анкета. Опрошено 55 волонтеров в возрасте от 18 до 24 лет с равным соотношением по половому признаку. Все респонденты являются студентами стоматологического факультета 2–5 курса УГМУ. Выявлена высокая заинтересованность студентов стоматологического факультета в проведении профилактических мероприятий. Участие в проекте способствует формированию значимых профессиональных компетенций студентов, что способствует повышению качества подготовки будущих врачей-стоматологов
