Effect of integrated nutrient management on dry herbage yield, nutrient uptake and profitability of French Basil (Ocimum basilicum L.)

    Get PDF
Field experiments were conducted at ICAR - Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru during Kharif season of 2015 and 2016 with nine treatments and three replications in a randomized block design to find out the effect of integrated nutrient management on dry herbage yield, nutrient uptake and economics of sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum). The results revealed that the conjunctive use of inorganic fertilizer along with FYM increased the dry herbage yield and nutrient uptake of sweet basil. Application of recommended FYM (10 t/ha) along with recommended NPK (160:80:80 kg/ha) registered the highest dry herbage yield (8.43 and 3.76 t ha- 1) in the main crop and ratoon, respectively and maximum uptake of nutrient in the main crop as N (155.67 and 113.19 kg/ha), P (43.80 and 32.43 kg/ha) and K (163.33 and 116.16 kg/ha) and in ratoon (56.43 and 26.65 kg ha-1), (16.14 and 14.01 kg ha-1) and (55.65 and 39.27 kg ha-1) in 2015 and 2016 respectively. Highest B: C ratio (5.49) was obtained with application of full dose of recommended NPK fertilizer during 2015. While in 2016, the maximum B: C ratio (3.71) was recorded with application of recommended dose of NPK (160:80:80 kg/ha) + FYM (10 t/ha)

Supersymmetric Electromagnetic Waves on Giants and Dual-Giants

We set up the BPS equations for a D3-brane moving in AdS_5 \times S^5 which preserves two supercharges and with all bosonic fields turned on in the world-volume theory. By solving these, we find generalizations of Mikhailov giants and wobbling dual-giants that include electromagnetic waves propagating on their world-volume. For these giants (dual-giants) we show that the BPS field strength is the real part of the pull-back of a holomorphic 2-form in the ambient space C^3 (C^{1,2}) onto the world-volume.Comment: 18 page

Genetic diversity analysis using molecular marker in Terminalia chebula

    Get PDF
Terminalia chebula is an important medicinal plant, extensively used in Ayurveda, Unani and Homoeopathic medicines. The present study was aimed to reveal its genetic diversity based on molecular markers from twelve T. chebula accessions. Molecular diversity was studied using RAPD markers. A total of 8 polymorphic primers produced 314 polymorphic bands and 195 monomorphic bands. Unweighted Pair Group Method with Arithmetic Mean (UPMGA) dendrogram divided the accessions into 2 major clusters. Accession IIHRTc2 and IIHRTc10 showed maximum genetic diversity with 55% similarity. This characterization based on molecular markers will help in identification of economically useful accessions for further crop improvement programme

Primary structure of Belladonna Mottle virus coat protein

The coat protein of belladonna mottle virus (a tymovirus) was cleaved by trypsin and chymotrypsin, and the peptides were separated by high performance liquid chromatography using a combinatioofn g el permeation, reverse phase, and ion pair chromatography. The peptides were sequenced manually using the 4-N, N-dimethylaminoazobenzene-4′-isothiocyanate/phenyl isothiocyanate double-coupling method. The chymotryptic peptides were aligned by overlapping sequences of tryptic peptides and by homology with another tymovirus, eggplant mosaic virus. The belladonna mottle virus is more closely related to eggplant mosaic virus than to turnip yellow mosaic virus, the type member of this group, as evident from the sequence homologies of 57 and 32%, respectively. The accumulation of basic residues at the amino terminus implicated in RNA-protein interactions in many spherical plant viruses was absent in all the three sequences. Interestingly, the amino-terminal region is the least conserved among the tymoviruses. The longest stretch of conserved sequence between belladonna mottle virus and eggplant mosaic virus was residues 34-44, whereas it was residues 96-102 in the case of belladonna mottle virus and turnip yellow mosaic virus. A tetrapeptide in the region (residues 154-157) was found to be common for all the three sequences. It is possible that these conserved regions (residues 34-44, 96-102, 164-157) are involved in either intersubunit or RNA-protein interactions

    Chronology Protection in anti-de Sitter

We consider 1/2 BPS excitations of AdS(5)xS(5) geometries in type IIB string theory that can be mapped into free fermion configurations according to the prescription of Lin, Lunin and Maldacena (LLM). It is shown that whenever the fermionic probability density exceeds one or is negative, closed timelike curves appear in the bulk. A violation of the Pauli exclusion principle in the phase space of the fermions is thus intimately related to causality violation in the dual geometries.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figure. v2: clarifications on the proof and comments on curvature singularity added. v3: final version to appear in Class.
