    Dental Health Insurance in India: Need of the Hour!

    India is a vast country of diverse cultures and languages. People of the Indian subcontinent lack sufficient knowledge about dentistry as a science, thus making it a necessity to provide dental care to the masses. High cost of dental treatment and lesser oral health practices among people in India predispose to altered oral hygiene. Dental Insurance in India is of great relevance in making oral care facilities available to one and all. However, it has just completed its first step, and only few insurance organizations are giving dental insurance provision, in contrast to the medical insurance companies which cover most of the Indian population. Therefore, the main objective of this review paper was to assess the provision of oral health insurance schemes in the Indian subcontinent and their knowledge and utilization by Indian public. For this, we studied the articles published in last few years from various sources regarding dental insurance in India. It was revealed that currently, there are only a few dental insurance policies, but with time and modern resources, dental insurance schemes in India will surely increase. As time progresses, a stage will be reached where each and every Indian will be protected by a trustworthy Dental Insurance scheme

Such comprehensive estimates have not been available so far for all major diseases and risk factors.     Medulloblastomas: a correlative study of MIB-1 proliferation index along with expression of c-Myc, ERBB2, and anti-apoptotic proteins along with histological typing and clinical outcome

    Background: Medulloblastoma (MB) is the most common pediatric brain tumor. It is however rare in adults. The genetic and protein expression profile of medulloblastoma is complex, which is worthwhile in terms of prognostication and development or selection of targeted therapy. Aims and objectives: The aims and objectives to correlate the MIB-1 proliferation index and protein expression profiles of c-Myc, ERBB2, and anti-apoptotic proteins (Bcl2 and Bcl-xL) in tumor cells with histological subtypes and clinical outcome. Methods and material: In 50 cases, histopathological subtyping was done, and protein expression profiling by immunohistochemical technique was performed by stains for MIB-1, Bcl2, Bcl-xL, c-Myc, and ERBB2 in 30 cases. The findings were correlated with histological types and patient's average follow-up data. Results: Histological subtypes were similar to that described in literatures. The average expression of Bcl2, Bcl-xL, MIB-1, c-Myc, and ERBB2 were as follows: 50.38%, 38.18%, 59.03%, 46.16%, and 59.62%, respectively. Bcl2 expression showed statistically significant correlation with progress-free survival (PFS) [p=0.046], while ERBB2 and MIB-1 showed a trend of higher expression in progressive disease. The protein expression pattern did not correlate with histological subtypes. Conclusion: Though Bcl-2, ERBB2, and MIB-1 LI came out to be potential markers of aggressive behavior, c-Myc did not correlate with PFS in MB

    Pseudoaneurysm of the anterior tibial artery: A rare complication of proximal tibial steinman pin insertion

    An anterior tibial artery pseudoaneurysm is a rare and unexpected complication of Steinmann pin insertion. We describe the case of an 18-year-old boy, who sustained such an injury to the anterior tibial artery during this procedure. Diagnosis was confirmed on a magnetic resonance (MR) angiogram. Aneurysmal sac excision with lateral repair of the vessel wall was performed. Postoperatively, a good flow was documented on a follow-up MR angiogram. This case highlights a major and unexpected complication of a so-called minor procedure. Too posterior a pin placement in the proximal tibia should be avoided to prevent such injuries

    A clinicopathological and molecular analysis of glioblastoma multiforme with long-term survival

    The median survival time of patients with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is 12 months, and only 3-5% of patients survive longer than 3 years. We performed histomorphological and detailed molecular analyses of seven long-term survivors of GBM to identify any prognostic factors that potentially contribute to survival. Morphology and immunohistochemistry for p53, phosphatase and tensin homologue (PTEN) and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) protein expression were investigated. EGFR amplification and 1p/19q deletion were assessed by fluorescent in situ hybridization. The O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) gene methylation status was evaluated by performing methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction assays. All tumors were classical GBMs and no significant oligodendroglial differentiation was noted. The majority showed EGFR amplification (4/7), PTEN protein expression (6/7) and MGMT promoter methylation (5/6). Immunopositivity for p53 was noted in three of seven patients. Deletion of chromosome 1p/19q, either isolated or combined, was not identified in any of the se patients. All patients were treated by gross total resection followed by radiotherapy; six patients received additional temozolomide treatment. A relatively young age of onset (48 years), with a high MGMT promoter methylation and PTEN protein expression were favorable factors for long-term survival. The presence of EGFR amplification indicates that more than a single factor determines survival in GBM

    Retailer Marketing Communications in the Digital Age::Getting the Right Message to the Right Shopper at the Right Time

    The evolving retail landscape in the digital age has resulted in opportunities and novel capabilities for retailers. This paper identifies four key challenges facing retailers based on insights from practitioners and academics using the customer journey framework as a guide. It then considers evidence from both practice and theory on how contemporary retailers might best innovate in the face of these challenges, to get “the right message to the right shopper at the right time.” Historically, retail was largely constrained to focus on individual touchpoints as manufacturers drove the majority of communication decisions. More recently, with the ability of e-commerce to capture the shopper decision journey more comprehensively, retailers are better able to understand what the right message would be as well as where, when, and how to deliver it to reach the most responsive shoppers to achieve the retailer’s strategic objectives in each phase of the journey. It is within this context that this paper considers the following key challenges: 1) When is the right time to communicate with a given shopper?, 2) What is the right way to communicate with a given shopper?, 3) What is the right way to leverage in-store collateral?, and 4) How do we cultivate the right long-term relationship with a shopper

    Anaplastic meningioma in an adolescent: a report of a rare case and brief review of literature

    Objective: Anaplastic meningioma is an uncommon neoplasm in childhood and adolescence. Due to the rarity, treatment options for anaplastic meningioma in this age group are not clearly outlined. Case: A 15-year-old boy presented with a left forehead swelling with a history of a left frontal tumor. Radiological investigations revealed a dura-based tumor with a large extracranial and a smaller intracranial component. Craniotomy with near-total excision of the tumor was performed. Histopathological examination of the tumor showed features of an anaplastic meningioma. The patient is currently receiving radiotherapy and chemotherapy. However, he has developed scalp swellings while on radiotherapy. Conclusion: Anaplastic meningioma is extremely rare in children. Extensive sampling is required to recognize the meningothelial nature of the tumor and immunohistochemistry helps in making an accurate diagnosis in such cases. Therapeutic interventions in such cases need to be closely monitored due to the aggressive behavior of this tumor
