INTRODUCTION: Sexual dysfunction is a common condition in patients taking antipsychotic medication, with a reported prevalence of 45~80% in males and 30~80% in females. It is the most bothersome symptom and adverse drug effect in men and women with schizophrenia, resulting in a negative effect on treatment compliance. AIM OF THE STUDY: 1. To compare the frequency of sexual dysfunction associated with risperidone, olanzapine, and quetiapine, among patients with clinically stable schizophrenia and 2. To assess the duration of drug intake and its effect on sexual function. METHODOLOGY: This is cross sectional study done on total sample of 100. 75 patients of schizophrenia were selected by purposive sampling technique. 25 healthy volunteers sample is divided into four groups, 25 patients who are in treatment with olanzapine, 25 on quetiapine, 25 on risperidone, 25 belong to control group they are assessed with changes in sexual functioning questionare (CSFQ) and BPRS. RESULTS:\ud Each domains of sexual function like desire, arousal / erection, ejaculation / orgasm were assessed. It was found that risperidone caused more overall sexual impairment (60%), olanzapine (52%) and quetiapine caused 48% impairment we got significant 'p' values also when compared to risperidone causing impairment in libido (72%) olanzapine (64%) and quetiapine (48%). Again same risperidone goup showed more impairment in erection/arousal domains causing 64% olanzapine 56% and quetiapine 44% impairment but ejaculation impairment no difference between risperidone group and olanzapine group were seen quetiapine showed less impairment when compared to all other three groups. It showed minimal sexual adverse effect as it causes minimal changes in prolactin level more longer the duration of drug intake cause more impairment in sexual function

With the increase in silicon densities, it is becoming feasible for compression systems to be implemented in chip. A system with distributed memory architecture is based on having data compression and decompression engines working independently on different data at the same time. This data is stored in memory distributed to each processor. The objective of the project is to design a lossless data compression system which operates in high-speed to achieve high compression rate. By using the architecture of compressors, the data compression rates are significantly improved. Also inherent scalability of architecture is possible. The main parts of the system are the data compressors and the control blocks providing control signals for the Data compressors, allowing appropriate control of the routing of data into and from the system. Each Data compressor can process four bytes of data into and from a block of data in every clock cycle. The data entering the system needs to be clocked in at a rate of 4 bytes in every clock cycle. This is to ensure that adequate data is present for all compressors to process rather than being in an idle state

In this work, a safe Coal Mine Monitoring system which replaces the traditional coal mine monitoring systems which tend to be wired network systems. This play an important role in coal mine safe production. With continuous enlarging of exploiting areas and extension of depth in coal mine, many laneways become monitoring blind areas, where are lots of hidden dangers. Moreover, it is inconvenient to lay cables which are expensive and consume time. In order to solve the problems, we designed a coal mine safety monitoring system based on wireless sensor network, which can improve the level of monitoring production safety and reduce accident in the coal mine. Zigbee technology provides a direction for scientists who commit to solve the safety monitoring problems of coal mine. The purpose of this study is to propose a solution suitable to mine wireless communication, safety monitoring, give a proof to the further study

    Get PDF
An implementation of the Data Encryption Standard (DES) algorithm is described. Protection of data during transmission or while in storage may be necessary to maintain the confidentiality and integrity of the information represented by the data. The algorithms uniquely define the mathematical steps required to transform data into a cryptographic cipher and also to transform the cipher back to the original form. The proposed pipeline method is for improving the speed of execution when compare with the non-pipeline method

    Get PDF
The main objective of this Paper is to develop Finite Impulse Response (FIR) Filter using look-up table (LUT) and memory based processor. The configuration is to reduce memory size, logic gate count and improve the speed of operation. Digital filters are becoming ubiquitous in audio applications. As a result, good digital filter performance is important to audio system design. Digital filters differ from conventional analog filters by their use of finite precision to represent signals and coefficients and finite precision arithmetic to compute the filter response. In this Paper, FIR filter is implemented in Xilinx ise using VHDL language. VHDL coding for the FIR filter is implemented in this Paper and waveforms are observed through simulation

Reconfiguration with Simultaneous DG installation to Improve the Voltage Profile in Distribution Network using Harmony Search Algorithm

    Get PDF
Due to dynamic nature of loads, total system load is more than its generation capacity that makes relieving of load on the feeders not possible and hence voltage profile of the system will not be improved to the required level. In order to meet required level of load demand, Reconfiguration & DG units are integrated in distribution network to improve voltage profile, to provide reliable and uninterrupted power supply and also to achieve economic benefits such as minimum power loss, energy efficiency and load leveling. This work proposes minimization of real power losses and improvement of voltage profile using network reconfiguration in the presence of distributed generation. Generally distributed generations (DG) are preferred with objective of minimizing real power loss and improving voltage profile in distribution system. In this work A meta heuristic Harmony Search Algorithm (HSA) is used to simultaneously reconfigure and identify the optimal locations for installation of DG units in a distribution network. Sensitivity analysis is used to identify optimal locations for installation of DG units. The proposed method has tested in MATLAB for 33-bus and 69- Bus radial distribution systems at three different load levels and the analysis is presented for loss minimization

Background: Tropical acute febrile illnesses (TAFI) such as malaria, typhoid, leptospirosis, dengue are major causes of AKI in the tropics. The spectrum of AKI due to TAFI in developing countries like India is still underestimated. Hence, we conducted a study to know the spectrum of AKI in patients of TAFI. Methods: The prospective study was conducted in Yashoda hospital, Secunderabad a tertiary care hospital in India from April 2019 to March 2020. AKI was defined as per KDIGO. The clinical history, physical examination and laboratory investigations were recorded in a standard proforma. Results: Hundred patients suffering from TAFI were admitted during the study period. Mean age of the study population was 43.12┬▒14.33 years. Twenty-six (60.5%) were males. Most common presenting feature was fever (100%), chills (81.4%) and vomiting (67.4%). The most common cause of TAFI was dengue (n=49, 49%), leptospirosis (n=20, 20%), followed by malaria (n=10, 10%), scrub typhus (n=10, 10%) and undifferentiated fever (n=6, 6%). 43 patients (43%) had AKI as per KDIGO definition. 23 patients (53.5%) had stage 1, 11 (25.6%) had stage 2 and 9 (20.9%) had stage 3 AKI. RRT was required in 16.3% of patients. Dengue and leptospirosis were the most common causes for requirement of RRT. SLED was the most common modality of dialysis. Mortality was observed in 6.98% patients and Dengue was the most common cause of mortality. Conclusions: AKI is common in tropical acute febrile illness. However, RRT was required only in 16.3% and mortality was observed in 6.98% patients

For past several years catfish did not form a fishery at Karwar located in the Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka. However, during the routine observations on the fish landings at Aligadda Fish Landing Centre, Karwar, an unusual bumper catch of about 3 tons of cat fish Arius arius was recorded from shore seine (Yendi bale) in the early hours of 28th July 2018. locally known as "Billi Shade", the catch was so heavy that it was difficult to drag the net to the shore and the haul was partially harvested at sea itself. The net operated by around 40 fishers at a depth of less than 8 metres, was 400 m in length
