    Qubit(s) transfer in helical spin chains

    Qubit(s) transfer through a helical chain is studied. We consider the transfer of a single state and Bell states across a multiferroic spin chain and the possibility of an electric field control of the fidelity of the single state and the Bell pairs. We analyze pure and imperfect multiferroic spin chains. A scheme for an efficient transfer of spin states through a multiferroic channel relies on kicking by appropriate electric field pulses at regular interval. This electric field pulse sequence undermines the effect of impurity on the fidelity and improves the state transfer through the helical chain.Comment: 7 pages, 10 figure

    Lived Experiences of the Indian Stigmatized Group in Reference to Socio-Political Empowerment: A Phenomenological Approach

    The authors present the lived experiences of the stigmatized castes in the context of the opportunities made available by the government of India for their Socio-Political Empowerment. The study aimed to gain an understanding about the respondents’ unique experiences of caste-based stigmatization at their workplace, their overall experience of empowerment at work and the other spheres of their lives, and to capture their perceived importance of, and the success of reservation policy as well as several other initiatives taken by the Government of India for empowering the marginalized castes. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 male Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe respondents working at respectable positions in the government organizations situated in the National Capital Region of Delhi. The phenomenological approach (Langdridge, 2007) was used to unearth the essence of the participant’s experiences of stigma driven treatments. The overall perceptions and experiences of the respondents included experiencing direct and indirect forms of caste-related discrimination at workplace; experiencing economic, social and psychological empowerment but not at the workplace; favouring the policy of reservation for Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe in government jobs; and believing in the improper implementation of policies in India. The research findings indicate the incomplete success of the governmental policies for the holistic empowerment of the Indian marginalized castes

    DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF STABILITY INDICATING RP-HPLC METHOD FOR DETERMINATION OF OLANZAPINE IN PHARMACEUTICAL DOSAGE FORMS

    Background: Spectrophotometric analysis fulfills requirements where the simultaneous estimation of the drugcombination can be done with similar effectiveness as that of chromatographic methods. Simultaneousestimation of drug combination is generally done by separation using chromatographic methods like HPLC, GC, and HPTLC, etc. These methods are accurate and precise with good reproducibility, but the cost of analysis isquite high owing to expensive instrumentation, reagent, and expertise. Hence it is advisable to develop a simpler and cost-effective method for the simultaneous estimation of drugs for routine analysis of formulation.Methods: A descriptive study design was used and information was obtained through various literature reviews. RP-HPLC method was used and data were analyzed.Conclusion: The developed stability-indicating HPLC method for quantitative estimation of olanzapine in bulkand pharmaceutical dosage forms is fast, simple, accurate, and more precise. Validation of this method wasaccomplished, getting results meeting all requirements. Thus, the developed HPLC method can be used forroutine quality control tests. &nbsp

    A rare case of sirenomelia with total bilateral cleft lip palate and kyphoscoliosis

    Sirenomelia, a rare congenital deformity, has fused lower limbs with variable combination of visceral anomalies. This condition is fatal within a day or two of birth so early antenatal detection and pregnancy termination is advocated. Antenatally it can be diagnosed by ultrasonography showing oligohydramnios, renal agenesis and fibulae positioned between the tibiae. A 24 years old Muslim primigravida came for first antenatal check up at 18 weeks of pregnancy. She didn’t turn up and came directly in emergency at 37 weeks in active labor and delivered a baby weighing 1.8 kg with a small sized placenta, complete bilateral cleft lip palate, Kyphoscoliosis and fused lower limbs upto ankles. Baby expired after 25 minutes of birth. Till now around 300 cases of Sirenomelia have been reported worldwide. All human cases of Sirenomelia have been found to be associated with variable degree of renal and urethral dysplasia or renal agenesis. External genitalia are affected, whereas gonads remain unaffected. In rare cases Sirenomelia is associated with upper body defects including cleft palate, cervical and upper thoracic vertebral abnormalities, pulmonary hypoplasia and cardiac defects

    Structural stabilization of GTP-binding domains in circularly permuted GTPases: Implications for RNA binding

    GTP hydrolysis by GTPases requires crucial residues embedded in a conserved G-domain as sequence motifs G1–G5. However, in some of the recently identified GTPases, the motif order is circularly permuted. All possible circular permutations were identified after artificially permuting the classical GTPases and subjecting them to profile Hidden Markov Model searches. This revealed G4–G5–G1–G2–G3 as the only possible circular permutation that can exist in nature. It was also possible to recognize a structural rationale for the absence of other permutations, which either destabilize the invariant GTPase fold or disrupt regions that provide critical residues for GTP binding and hydrolysis, such as Switch-I and Switch-II. The circular permutation relocates Switch-II to the C-terminus and leaves it unfastened, thus affecting GTP binding and hydrolysis. Stabilizing this region would require the presence of an additional domain following Switch-II. Circularly permuted GTPases (cpGTPases) conform to such a requirement and always possess an ‘anchoring’ C-terminal domain. There are four sub-families of cpGTPases, of which three possess an additional domain N-terminal to the G-domain. The biochemical function of these domains, based on available experimental reports and domain recognition analysis carried out here, are suggestive of RNA binding. The features that dictate RNA binding are unique to each subfamily. It is possible that RNA-binding modulates GTP binding or vice versa. In addition, phylogenetic analysis indicates a closer evolutionary relationship between cpGTPases and a set of universally conserved bacterial GTPases that bind the ribosome. It appears that cpGTPases are RNA-binding proteins possessing a means to relate GTP binding to RNA binding
