    Elliptic blowup equations for 6d SCFTs. Part II: Exceptional cases

    The building blocks of 6d (1,0)(1,0) SCFTs include certain rank one theories with gauge group G=SU(3),SO(8),F4,E6,7,8G=SU(3),SO(8),F_4,E_{6,7,8}. In this paper, we propose a universal recursion formula for the elliptic genera of all such theories. This formula is solved from the elliptic blowup equations introduced in our previous paper. We explicitly compute the elliptic genera and refined BPS invariants, which recover all previous results from topological string theory, modular bootstrap, Hilbert series, 2d quiver gauge theories and 4d N=2\mathcal{N}=2 superconformal HGH_{G} theories. We also observe an intriguing relation between the kk-string elliptic genus and the Schur indices of rank kk HGH_{G} SCFTs, as a generalization of Lockhart-Zotto's conjecture at the rank one cases.     On construction of optimal mixed-level supersaturated designs

    Supersaturated design (SSD) has received much recent interest because of its potential in factor screening experiments. In this paper, we provide equivalent conditions for two columns to be fully aliased and consequently propose methods for constructing E(fNOD)E(f_{\mathrm{NOD}})- and χ2\chi^2-optimal mixed-level SSDs without fully aliased columns, via equidistant designs and difference matrices. The methods can be easily performed and many new optimal mixed-level SSDs have been obtained. Furthermore, it is proved that the nonorthogonality between columns of the resulting design is well controlled by the source designs.     Triaxial projected shell model approach

    The projected shell model analysis is carried out using the triaxial Nilsson+BCS basis. It is demonstrated that, for an accurate description of the moments of inertia in the transitional region, it is necessary to take the triaxiality into account and perform the three-dimensional angular-momentum projection from the triaxial Nilsson+BCS intrinsic wavefunction.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figure

    Multi-view Regularized Gaussian Processes

    Gaussian processes (GPs) have been proven to be powerful tools in various areas of machine learning. However, there are very few applications of GPs in the scenario of multi-view learning. In this paper, we present a new GP model for multi-view learning. Unlike existing methods, it combines multiple views by regularizing marginal likelihood with the consistency among the posterior distributions of latent functions from different views. Moreover, we give a general point selection scheme for multi-view learning and improve the proposed model by this criterion. Experimental results on multiple real world data sets have verified the effectiveness of the proposed model and witnessed the performance improvement through employing this novel point selection scheme

    Kinetics and mechanism of formic acid decomposition on Ru(001)

    The steady-state rate of decomposition of formic acid on Ru(001) has been measured as a function of surface temperature, parametric in the pressure of formic acid. The products of the decomposition reaction are C0_2, H_2, CO, and H_2)0, i.e., both dehydrogenation and dehydration occur on Ru (001). A similar product distribution has been observed on Ni(110), Ni(100), Ru(100), Fe(100), and Ni(111) surfaces; whereas only dehydrogenation to C0_2 and H_2 occurs on the Cu(100), Cu(110), and Pt(111) surfaces. Only reversible adsorption and desorption of formic acid is observed on the less reactive Ag(110) surface at low temperatures, whereas the more reactive Mo(100) surface is oxidized by formic acid at low temperatures with the products of this reaction being H_2, CO, and H_(2)O (Ref. 10). We report here the confirmation of earlier observations of the occurrence of both dehydrogenation and dehydration of formic acid on Ru(001), and more importantly, we provide a detailed mechanistic description of the steady-state decomposition reaction on this surface in terms of elementary steps

    Nearly Antiferromagnetic Fermi Liquids: A Progress Report

    I describe recent theoretical and experimental progress in understanding the physical properties of the two dimensional nearly antiferromagnetic Fermi liquids (NAFL's) found in the normal state of the cuprate superconductors. In such NAFL's, the magnetic interaction between planar quasiparticles is strong and peaked at or near the commensurate wave vector, Q≡(π,π)Q \equiv (\pi,\pi). For the optimally doped and underdoped systems, the resulting strong antiferromagnetic correlations produce three distinct magnetic phases in the normal state: mean field above TcrT_{cr}, pseudoscaling between TcrT_{cr} and T∗T_*, and pseudogap below T∗T_*. I present arguments which suggest that the physical origin of the pseudogap found in the quasiparticle spectrum below TcrT_{cr} is the formation of a precursor to a spin-density-wave-state, describe the calculations based on this scenario of the dynamical spin susceptibility, Fermi surface evolution, transport, and Hall effect, and summarize the experimental evidence in its support.Comment: LATEX + PS figures.
