Cometary investigation during the total solar eclipse of 7 March 1970

    Get PDF
Photographic observations made during the solar eclipses of 1963, 1966, 1968, and 1970 indicate the presence of previously unidentified celestial objects in the near-angular vicinity of the sun. Observational data and equipment are described. Possible origins of the objects are enumerated, as well as suggested future experiments to confirm the results

    Mechanical solar motor: A concept

    Get PDF
Motor is proposed to convert radiation from sun directly into mechanical energy. Motor utilizes thermal expansion of liquid, heated by sun, as driving force. Unlike most thermally powered systems, it does not require that liquid be converted into vapor

    Features of the Sun

    Get PDF
In this activity students study various features of the Sun in order to understand how the Sun varies. Students will learn that the Sun contains many complex features and compare this to their own prior knowledge about the Sun. Features studied include sunspots, plages, solar flares, prominences, filaments, the corona, helmet streamers, and coronal holes. Educational levels: Middle school
