FlashProfile: A Framework for Synthesizing Data Profiles

    Get PDF
We address the problem of learning a syntactic profile for a collection of strings, i.e. a set of regex-like patterns that succinctly describe the syntactic variations in the strings. Real-world datasets, typically curated from multiple sources, often contain data in various syntactic formats. Thus, any data processing task is preceded by the critical step of data format identification. However, manual inspection of data to identify the different formats is infeasible in standard big-data scenarios. Prior techniques are restricted to a small set of pre-defined patterns (e.g. digits, letters, words, etc.), and provide no control over granularity of profiles. We define syntactic profiling as a problem of clustering strings based on syntactic similarity, followed by identifying patterns that succinctly describe each cluster. We present a technique for synthesizing such profiles over a given language of patterns, that also allows for interactive refinement by requesting a desired number of clusters. Using a state-of-the-art inductive synthesis framework, PROSE, we have implemented our technique as FlashProfile. Across 153153 tasks over 7575 large real datasets, we observe a median profiling time of only ∼ 0.7 \sim\,0.7\,s. Furthermore, we show that access to syntactic profiles may allow for more accurate synthesis of programs, i.e. using fewer examples, in programming-by-example (PBE) workflows such as FlashFill.Comment: 28 pages, SPLASH (OOPSLA) 201

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is characterized by synovial joint inflammation, which often leads to progressive joint destruction and disability. Several other auto-antibodies specific to RA have been found .Among them, antibodies against cyclic citrullinated peptides (CCP) are useful for diagnosing RA. Antibodies to mutated citrullinated vimentin (MCV) were described recently in RA. The aim of this study was to determine the diagnostic values of ACCP compared to anti-MCV and Rheumatoid Factor in rheumatoid arthritis patients. Methods: This study included 92 patients with Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and 35 matching healthy controls. Blood samples were obtained from patients and controls for Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR), C Reactive Protein (CRP), Rheumatoid factor (RF). Anti-CCP2 and anti-MCV were determined using ELISA technique. Results: RA group was significantly higher than control group as regard ESR, CRP, RF, Anti-CCP, and Anti- MCV.Conclusion: It was concluded, compared to ACCP, anti-MCV has approximately the same accuracy for the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis but higher than Rheumatoid Factor.Level of Evidence: Level II, prospective study, as per guidelines for authors.

Neuropharmacology is the scientific study of the effects of drugs on the central nervous system. Its primary focus is actions of medications for psychiatric and neurologic disorders as well as those of drugs of abuse. The goal of Neuropharmacology is to apply information about drugs and their mechanisms of action, develop safer and more effective treatments and eventually curative and preventive measures for a host of nervous system abnormalities. There are a number of drugs being used in the traditional medicine for treatment of various CNS disorders and presently many of these drugs are being explored scientifically to ascertain their CNS activities. Significant number of studies has been performed to find alternative treatment for diseases of the nervous forum by identifying structures with activity at the central nervous system. However, most of the screenings are usually conducted on an ad hoc basis and not systematically. The initial purpose of this review is to summarize plants with neuropharmacological activities, in particular, those that have not been fully studied and that have molecular mechanisms whose active constituents are responsible for the activities remained to be identified. The second purpose was to identify potential target plants for future studies of new and alternative therapies for the treatment of neurological disorders and neurodegenerative diseases

Background: Convulsive status epilepticus (CSE) is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in pediatrics. Objectives: The objectives of the study were to examine the influence of any clinical factor on control of CSE in children. Methods: Cases of CSE in the age group of 1 month–12 years, admitted to the emergency ward of a tertiary care hospital, over a period of 1 year, were studied, prospectively. Only those cases that were actively convulsing at arrival were enrolled. Difficult cases were shifted pediatric intensive care unit and were put on mechanical ventilator as needed. After initial stabilization, detailed case-work up and appropriate investigations to find the etiology were done. The data were analyzed statistically and p<0.05 was considered as statistically significant. Results: The data of 50 cases that fulfilled the enrolment criteria were analyzed. Convulsions in the majority of the cases could be controlled within 30 min. Out of the study patients, 39 cases (78%) needed >1 drug for controlling the convulsive episodes. Control was extremely difficult in 10 (20%) of the cases while 3 (6%) cases died. The time needed to control the episodes showed significant correlation with several clinical factors, namely focal seizure with impaired consciousness, multiple episodes of convulsion (discrete type), focal deficit, Glasgow Coma Scale score <9, abnormal neuroimaging finding, central nervous system infections (meningitis and encephalitis together), and prolonged duration of convulsions before arrival at the emergency ward. However, on multivariate analysis prolonged duration of convulsion before arrival at emergency was found to be the most significant predictor of time needed to control the episodes. Conclusion: Prolonged duration of convulsion before arriving at the hospital can be considered to be a predictor of difficult control of CSE in children

As the mobile telecommunication systems are growing tremendously all over the world, the numbers of handheld and base stations are also rapidly growing and it became very popular to see these base stations distributed everywhere in the neighborhood and on roof tops which has caused a considerable amount of panic to the public in Palestine concerning wither the radiated electromagnetic fields from these base stations may cause any health effect or hazard. Recently UP High Court in India ordered for removal of BTS towers from residential area, it has created panic among cellular communication network designers too. Green cellular networks could be a solution for the above problem. This paper deals with green cellular networks with the help of multi-layer overlaid hierarchical structure (macro / micro / pico / femto cells). Macrocell for area coverage, micro for pedestrian and a slow moving traffic while pico for indoor use and femto for individual high capacity users. This could be the answer of the problem of energy conservation and enhancement of spectral density also.Comment: 6 pages, 6 figures. arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:1204.2101, arXiv:1110.2627, and with arXiv:0803.0952 and arXiv:0803.0952 by other author

In the past few years, the Information and Communication Technology sector have made a significant advancement in Cloud Computing technology. The world wide acceptance of Cloud technology can be credited to the various benefits a Cloud offers to its users. The Cloud technology helps in preventing resource wastage to a much greater extent. The authors of this paper wish to explore the concept behind cloud computing, its strategy, and benefits. This paper presents some facts and figures related to cloud and green computing which will help in obtaining the gist of Cloud Computing and in understanding the need of going green in computing
