A rare case of chronic suppurative otitis media with foreign body in external auditory canal and mastoid antrum

Foreign bodies in External Auditory Canal (EAC) are common in both adults and children. Removal of foreign body requires skill but usually successfully performed in the ENT department. A 40 year old female patient presented with right ear discharge with decreased hearing. On examination, a pale, scanty, mucopurulent discharge, foul smelling with blood tinge, persisting even after medications. After aural toileting, tympanic membrane was perforated with granulation tissue in middle ear. Multiple broom sticks were found in the external auditory canal, mastoid antrum was removed via post auricular approach with excision of polyp with radical mastoid exploration. Removal of foreign body from EAC is an essential skill for ENT surgeon. Careful removal can prevent further trauma and complications. Dibalik perdebatan pro-kontra penerapan syariat Islam ini, faktanya telah terjadi proses taqninisasi Hukum islam dan/atau Islamisasi peraturan Perundang-undangan yang sudah berlangsung selama kurang lebih 30 tahun, diantaranta adalah lahirnya UU Nomor 1 tahun 1974 tentang Perkawinan, PP No. 9 tahun 1975 tentang Pelaksanaan UU Nomor 1 tentang Perkawinan, Instruksi Presiden Nomor 1 Tahun 1991 tentang Kompilasi Hukum Islam, kemudian berlanjut dengan UU Nomor 7 tahun 1989 tentang Peradilan Agama dan UU Nomor 21 tahun 2008 tentang Perbankan syariah. Behavioral Indicators of Poor Welfare in Shelter Dogs

We studied behavioral indicators of poor welfare in shelter dogs. Our research question was: How is the welfare of shelter dogs affected by length of stay at a shelter, age, sex, and breed. Data were collected on 18 dogs from October 2016 to March 2017 at a small private shelter in Marietta, GA. Data were collected in 15-minute sessions when the dogs were in their indoor enclosures. No significant differences were found in time spent in abnormal behaviors among dogs that were at the shelter for less than 1 month, 1-6 months, and longer than 6 months, between males and females, between different breeds, and between younger and older dogs. Small sample sizes, individual differences, and an enriched shelter environment could have contributed to the lack of significant findings

Feature Detection and Analysis of Pigeon Peas Using Image Processing

Image processing is one of the challenging areas in computer science which finds its application and place in almost every area of research. Pigeon peas, which are popularly called as Toor dal in India, is widely used as one of the main ingredients in food globally, as it is rich in proteins. One of the challenges faced by the food industry is in assessing the quality and the type of the grains and pulses. The quality detection by manual inspection in analysing the grains and pulses may not give accurate results compared to an automated system. For a common man, the colour, size and texture of dals are important parameters in deciding their quality. But in some cases, more the colour lesser the quality as the dals may be polished. This paper focuses on developing a model which can extract the geometrical features and analyses in classifying pigeon peas into different groups. Digital samples of both polished and unpolished pigeon peas are taken for analysing and classifying them based on three parameters: size, colour and texture. Design and Fabrication of Solar Powered Waste Management System

A trash compactor designed for public use is powered by a photovoltaic cell array. This allows the trash compactor to be placed in locations where no power is available, but with frequent traffic. The compaction feature allows the unit to be emptied less often than a typical trash container. The trash compactor can include a storage system to store power for compaction cycles. A removable bin allows easy removal of the compacted trash. The Solar-Powered Waste Management Bin is microcontroller based project that proposes a great improvement of a simple trash can which emphasizes the use of solar energy. Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Poe (Predict-observe-explaint)terhadap Pemahaman Konsep Fisika Dan Sikap Ilmiah Ditinjau Dari Gaya Belajar Siswa

This study purpose to now the interaction between learning model and learning style to the understanding of physics concepts and scientific attitude. The research classified as a quasi experimental design by the post-test only control group design. The samples in grade X class with 57 students at SMAN 3 Singaraja academic year 2012/2013. The Samples were taken by simple random sampling technique is divided into two group, experiment group by using POE models in learning and control group by using conventional models in learning. Data were collected with a concepts understanding test, scientific attitude, learning style, and observation sheets. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and hypothesis testing using MANOVA and two lines with 2x3 factorial design. The results show an interaction effect between learning models and learning styles to the understanding of physics concepts and scientific attitude of students (F= 1.236, p <0,05)

FACTORS INFLUENCING JOB REJECTIONS IN CLOUD ENVIRONMENT

The IT organizations invests heavy capital by consuming large scale infrastructure and advanced operating platforms. The advances in technology has resulted in emergence of cloud computing, which is promising technology to achieve the aforementioned objective. At the peak hours, the jobs arriving to the cloud system are normally high demanding efficient execution and dispatch. An observation that has been carried out in this paper by capturing a job arriving pattern from a monitoring system explains that most of the jobs get rejected because of lack of efficient technology. The job rejections can be controlled by certain factors such as job scheduling and load balancing. Therefore, in this paper the efficiency of Round Robin (RR) scheduling strategy used for job scheduling and Shortest Job First Scheduling (SJFS) technique used for load balancing in reducing the job rejections are analyzed. Further, a proposal for an effective load balancing approach to avoid deadlocks has been discussed
