The presence of foreign ethnic restaurants has become a norm in this country. The establishment of such restaurant has been increasing steadily especially in the recent decades. This phenomenon is certainly could be attributed to some elements that motivate foreigners to open their businesses in this country. This study aims to uncover the underlying reasons for the foreigners to open their restaurants and how the external operating environment affect their restaurant businesses’ resiliency. Furthermore, there has been a lack of study looking into external operating environment and resiliency of a business. Therefore, this warrant an investigation on the issue at hand

Determinants of Food Heritage towards Food Identity

Many studies on traditional food and food products towards identity have been carried out, but there is insufficient study relating to heritage context. In exploring this issue, conceptual frameworks have developed and examined the relationship between the determinants of food heritage and food identity. A total of 898 self-administered questionnaires were collected from the public in Klang Valley area, Malaysia and using statistical analysis using partial least square-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) from PLS 3 software to established the validity and reliability of the model as well as the relationship between the two factors. Results revealed that there are eight construct determinants of food heritage and one construct of food identity that represent the conceptual model, and there is a moderate relationship between the two variables.© 2016. The connection between past travel experience and tourists revisits behavioral intentions has not been widely explored, but the existing studies suggest a close relationship between them. Tourism-related products of a country can equally be construed to have effects on the attitudes of the tourists at the end of their actual visitation and satisfaction of a tourist with his or her travel experiences contribute to loyalty to a particular destination. It has also been acknowledged that destination image affects visitors’ subjective perception, consequent behaviour and destination choice. This paper is reviewing the constructs and dimensions which associated with international tourist revisit intention using the United Arab Emirates as contextual study setting and proposed the study conceptual framework

How service quality affects the customer satisfaction: Case study of electric train service (ETS)

Service quality played the important role and it affected to the customer satisfaction.Service quality has become a distinct and important aspect of the product and service offering. In this study, we investigated the effects of service quality on customer satisfaction in electric train service (ETS) industry Malaysia, focusing on the five dimensions in service quality which is tangible, responsiveness, assurance, reliability and empathy. We use questionnaire to collect the data from ETS passenger at northern region Malaysia KTMB station. The hypotheses on the causal relationships among service quality and customer satisfaction were tested by using IBM SPSS Statistics version 23 statistical technique. The results show negative correlation between the customer satisfaction and five dimensions in service quality. This study helps ETS to know about their customer satisfaction and can help they improve their service quality if there got any weaknesses. Future research needs to be done to investigate in details about this stud

Flume investigation on bed load transport and bedforms in simple channels

Massive floods hit various states in Malaysia such as Pahang, Kelantan, Johor, Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak. It caused widespread damages to properties, infrastructures, human suffering and even deaths. More frequent floods incidents and soil erosion are reported which lead to sedimentation problems in the drainage and river systems due to urbanisation. It is important to understand the sedimentation process and the behaviour of bed forms in the water course for post-flood events. However, it is risky and dangerous to conduct field study during occurrence of flooding. Laboratory study has been chosen as an alternative to fulfill the objectives. Experimental investigations on the bed load transport and bed forms in simple channels have been undertaken. Small and large flume models are used in the laboratory. The effects of flow on mobile sandy bed channel and bed load transportation are studied by using a modified flume with an asymmetric straight compound channel. However, the findings on rate of transport and bed formation for non-flooding cases are presented in this paper. It is found that the bed formation profiles for both channels are different due to scale and flume characteristics. The bed forms, erosion and deposition processes are significantly influenced by the water velocity in the channel. The bed forms observed for large flume are repeating ripples and dunes; meanwhile variable of ripples are observed in small flume

The Need of Computer Modelling and Simulation (CMS) Competency among Employers in Malaysia

With the continuous improvement in Computer Modelling and Simulation Environment (CMSE) applications being made, computer modelling and simulation (CMS) is proven a better alternative as opposed to conventional physical modelling. The advancement of computing hardware allows accurate results to be obtained faster, safer and at a fraction of its original cost. Despite the proven advantages, CMSE adoption among companies may be fairly new in Malaysia. This study is aimed at quantifying the demand of CMSE specialists in Malaysia as well as gaining insights in the companies’ requirements of specialists’ knowledge, competencies and skills. Thus, a survey, consisted of 3 main parts, was conducted among industries in Malaysia as a tool of measurement of the demand. The survey included questions related to the general information of the organization, specialists’ competencies relation to the job scope, and finally the professional and educational standards among specialists. In general, it was found that practically-competent specialists in CMSE are in high demand among engineering companies. Furthermore, professional courses through distance learning would be of high interest among companies to send their employees to gain practical competency in CMSE
