The Correlation Between Students\u27 Translation Ability and Reading Comprehension
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan apakah ada hubungan antara kemampuan menerjemahkan dan pemahaman membaca siswa. Desain penelitian ini kuantitatif menggunakan ex post facto designs. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas satu di SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Trimurjo. Peneliti menggunakan sampel penelitian sebanyak 30 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes menerjemahkan dan pemahaman membaca. Data yang terkumpul analisa menggunakan Pearson Product Moment Correlation di SPSS 16.0. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa koefisien korelasi kemampuan penerjemahan siswa dan pemahaman membaca siswa 0,724 pada tingkat signifikan 0,01. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada hubungan yang signifikan antara kemampuan penerjemahan siswa dan pemahaman membaca siswa. The purpose of this study is to find out whether there is significant correlation between students\u27 translation ability and reading comprehension. The researcher used sample that consist of 30 students. The instruments of this research were translation and reading comprehension test. The data collected were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation in SPSS 16.0. The test result showed that coefficient correlation of students\u27 translation and their reading comprehension is 0.724 at the significant level of 0.01. It can be concluded that there is significant correlation between students\u27 translation ability and their reading comprehension
Exchange and Political Communication: Study at Regent Election of Soppeng District
This paper aims to reveal the socio-political reality that is loaded with interest. The interest certainly are mutually-beneficial but often unbalanced political advantage. In this regard, politics always intersect or identical to ‘exchange' and ‘communication'. When interpreted in reverse, that isn't politics if it doesn't contain elements of ‘exchange' which must be preceded by a communication strategy its politicians. Specifi cally, this paper reveals the occurrence of a ‘political exchange' and the ongoing process of ‘political communication'. Set in the elections in Soppeng district iIn 2010, the process of exchange and political communication that takes place generally is ‘transactional'. Although some cases of ‘looks' is ‘interactional' but it always ends with a political compensation (transactional)
The Analysis Of Students’ Error
Negative and interrogative forms are the important elements of Englishgrammars that have to be mastered by SMP students. The learners need to havesubtantial capability of English grammar in order that they are able to speak andwrite correctly.Therefore, the objectives of this research are (1) to identify the frequencies ofoccurance of the students’ grammatical errors based on surface strategy taxonomyfound in their sentences, (2) to identify the frequencies of occurance of students’grammatical errors based on developmental category that are found in theirsentences, and (3) to find out which types of errors were mostly made by thestudents. Descriptive method was used in this research, where the data were takenfrom the students to draw conclusions. This research was conducted at SMPNegeri 8 bandar Lampung. The subject of the research was class VIII.H consistingof 34 students. The data gained were further analyzed based on surface strategytaxonomy and developmental category.Having analyzed the data, it is found that the students commited four types oferrors based on surface strategy taxonomy and developmental category, thehighest frequency of error types based on surface strategy taxonomy ismisformation error (63,17%) followed by misordering errors (23,36%), additionerrors (11,34%) and misordering errors (2,27%). While based on thedevelopmental category, the errors are: pre-systematic stage (44,75%), systematicstage (33,14%) and post-systematic stage (22,09%).The result shows that the highest number of errors occured is misformation. ThisIndicates that students have more serious problems in using grammar especiallytenses in present tenses. They might also be influenced by Indonesian grammar.And based on developmental category the most frequent errorr occured is presystematicstage. This might be due to the students’ lack of knowledge aboutgrammar. The errors students produced were possibly caused by some factorssuch as insufficient grammar mastery, lack of knowledge of present tenses andlack of awareness. In line with the result, it is suggested that English teachersshould not ignore the errors made by them. The teachers can give remedialteaching for the students and provide some tasks or exercises which enable themto practice using tenses
The Increasing of Students\u27 Speaking Ability Through Talking Chips Technique
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan pengaruh Talking Chips Technique untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa. Subyek penelitian terdiri atas tiga puluh siswa tahun pertama SMAN 1 Gunung Sugih. Penelitian ini menggunakan model T-Test. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan memberikan pretest dan posttest. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa ini menunjukan efek yang signifikan dari TCT pada pencapaian berbicara siswa dengan level signifikan ( 0,00 < 0.05 ) ini dapat disarankan bahwa TCT dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa Talking Chips Technique dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa. The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of Talking Chips Technique on the students\u27 speaking ability. The subjects were thirty students of the first grade at SMAN 1 Gunung Sugih. The study employed T-Test design. The data were collected through the pretest and the posttest. The result of this research showed that there was a statisticaly significant effect of TCT on the students\u27 speaking achivement with the significant level (0,00 < 0,05). This suggests that Talking Chip Technique can be used to improve the students\u27 speaking ability
The Effect of Choral Reading Technique on Students’ English Consonants Pronunciation
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi apakah ada efek signifikan dari penerapan choral reading pada pembelajaran pelafalan konsonan Bahasa Inggris. Dalam penelitian ini, desain yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan one group pretest posttest. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII E di SMPN 1 Raman Utara tahun ajaran 2013-2014. Peneliti menggunakan tes pelafalan pada pretes dan postes dalam bentuk kata tunggal untuk sepuluh konsonan Bahasa Inggris. Analisis data menggunakan t-test untuk mengukur tingkat signifikansi antara pretes dan postes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata siswa pada pretes adalah 11.15 dan pada postes 15.5, di mana peningkatannya adalah sebesar 4.35. Selain itu, dari hasil perbandingan antara pretes dan postes mencapai p=0.00 serta t-hasil 8.065 lebih besar dari t-tabel 2.093. Dari hasil tersebut dapat dikatakan bahwa teknik choral reading membawa efek yang signifikan pada pelafalan konsonan Bahasa Inggris siswa.The objective of the research was to find out whether choral reading technique brought a significant effect on students’ English consonant pronunciation. This research used quantitative design with one group pretest posttest design. The subject of the research was students of VIII E class as the second year students of SMPN 1 Raman Utara in academic year 2013-2014. The researcher used pronunciation test in form of isolated words for ten English consonants. The data was analyzed by utilizing t-test to prove the significance between pretest and posttest. The result showed that the mean score of students pronunciation in pretest as many as 11.15 while in posttest as many as 15.5 where the increase as many as 4.35. In addition, the value of p=0.00 also the t-value 8.065 was higher than t-table 2.093. From the result of data analysis, it can be stated that choral reading technique gives a significant effect on students’ English consonants pronunciation
Mplementation Proffering of Claim Guarantee Health of National Health in Hospital Anutapura Palu
The hospital's claim collectively and billed done to the BPJS of each month,with complete supporting documents i.e copy of BPJS card,prof nurse, letter of statement, the cost of which must be paid. The function of the claims of BPJS is the submission the cost of patient care BPJS participaty from the hospital to the BPJS, previously the cost of patient care in the responsibility by the hospital. The porpuse of research to find out information on filing a claim general hospital of Anutapura palu to BPJS. This research has been carried out in a Hospital Anutapura palu and implemented in june 2016. Type writer this research with a qualitative approach. The study make's and overview of the complex, researching the words, the detailed report of the views of respondents, and conduct a study on the situation of the natural. The results showed that the claims of the administration in the hospital Anutapura palu has been running in a coedance with the rules as seen from the claims in the pending was upon agreement of the parties hospital and office of the BPJS that follow the rules No. 28 service system JKN. So based on research it can be deduced that the implementation of the filing the claim of the nation health assurance ( JKN ) in Hospital Anutapura palu are in accoedance with Permenkes No.28 service system ( JKN )
An Analysis Of Student’s Goofing In Their Translation
The problem of the study is the students’ goofing in their translationfrom Indonesia into English recount text. Some factors that cause students’goofing in their translation task are students’ difficulty in structure of targetlanguage (TL), difficulty in choosing the proper equivalence of English wordsfrom Indonesia word and students’ low motivation to read a text.The objectives of this research are to identify the types of goofs in translatingIndonesia into English recount text, to identify goofs which are more dominatingin the students translation of recount text and to inform the readers about goofsdone by the first grade students. The test deals with one type short story. Thepopulation of this research was the first year of SMA Negeri 1 Bandar Lampung.Recount text was used as the instrument for data collection, and the students wereasked to translate from Indonesia into English recount text. The data gained fromthis research were analyzed using Dullay and Burt framework.The results show that total of goofs students made in their translation task is 111goofs from 15 students of X.7, that is more dominating goofs is developmentalgoof and least goof that made by students is ambiguous goof. The finding of thisresearch is that, student's difficulties in understanding the structure of the targetlanguage was major cause students made goofs.Keywords: Goofing, Recount text, TranslationINTRODUCTIONTranslation is very important for transferring information from source languageinto target language. Learners have difficultiesto handle words or word associations because they do not comprehend them orbecause they do not find proper equivalents, which makes translation a difficulttask. Concerning the translation of Indonesian into English text, the learnersshould be able to find the equivalence of the words and structure because some ofEnglish words have equivalence in Indonesian. Translation is not just changingIndonesian word into English word for the real meaning but it also definitelydepends on the context in which word is used.Translation is a natural and necessary activity because translation can happenoutside and inside the classroom as one of the language practices. Improving Students\u27 Reading Comprehension Achievement of Descriptive Text by Using Think-Pair-Share Technique
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti apakah ada peningkatan pada pencapaian pemahaman membaca siswa setelah diajar menggunakan teknik think-pair-share. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Data diambil melalui tes reading dalam bentuk tes pilihan ganda. Sasaran penelitian sebanyak 32 siswa pada kelas delapan di SMP Negeri 5 Bandar Lampung. Data dianalisis menggunakan Paired Sample T-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya peningkatan kemampuan membaca siswa dengan tingkat signifikansi 0.05. Oleh karena itu, dapat disarankan bahwa pengajaran membaca menggunakan teknik think-pair-share dapat membantu siswa dalam mengingkatkan pencapaian pemahaman mereka dalam membaca.The aim of this study was to find out whether there was a statistically significant difference of the students\u27 reading comprehension achievement before and after the students were taught through think-pair-share technique.
