    A Range Query Algorithm to Process KNN Queries in Cloud Computing

    In Public Cloud environment, security and data confidentiality is the major problem facing by all the data controller. The service user can take the service from the cloud by getting authorization from the service provider and he can only pay for the service by using the server, for that the service provider lose the control so there may have chances of leaking the information. For that reason the data controller does not want the data to shift to the Cloud. There may have only chance of storing the data is providing the privacy gurantee to the Cloud. The requirement to building privacy is based on CPEL criteria which is confidentiality, privacy, efficiency, low in-house processing cost. By satisfying these requirement will increase the difficulty to store data in the Cloud. In order to eliminate this problem, We are using Random Space Perturbation method for providing the security and efficiency for processing the data. This method is used to building a practical query services in the Cloud. This approach will balance all the requirements by using range query and KNN query services.It provides multifaceted distances , which allows actual listing techniques to increase distances processing.     Magnetic and electron transport properties of the rare-earth cobaltates, La0.7-xLnxCa0.3CoO3 (Ln = Pr, Nd, Gd and Dy) : A case of phase separation

    Magnetic and electrical properties of four series of rare earth cobaltates of the formula La0.7-xLnxCa0.3CoO3 with Ln = Pr, Nd, Gd and Dy have been investigated. Compositions close to x = 0.0 contain large ferromagnetic clusters or domains, and show Brillouin-like behaviour of the field-cooled DC magnetization data with fairly high ferromagnetic Tc values, besides low electrical resistivities with near-zero temperature coefficients. The zero-field-cooled data generally show a non-monotonic behaviour with a peak at a temperatures slightly lower than Tc. The near x = 0.0 compositions show a prominent peak corresponding to the Tc in the AC-susceptibility data. The ferromagnetic Tc varies linearly with x or the average radius of the A-site cations, (rA). With increase in x or decrease in (rA), the magnetization value at any given temperature decreases markedly and the AC-susceptibility measurements show a prominent transition arising from small magnetic clusters with some characteristics of a spin-glass. Electrical resistivity increases with increase in x, showed a significant increase around a critical value of x or (rA), at which composition the small clusters also begin to dominate. These properties can be understood in terms of a phase separation scenario wherein large magnetic clusters give way to smaller ones with increase in x, with both types of clusters being present in certain compositions. The changes in magnetic and electrical properties occur parallely since the large ferromagnetic clusters are hole-rich and the small clusters are hole-poor.     Nanoparticles as multimodal photon transducers of ionizing radiation

    In biomedical imaging, nanoparticles combined with radionuclides that generate Cerenkov luminescence are used in diagnostic imaging, photon-induced therapies, and as activatable probes. In these applications, the nanoparticle is often viewed as a carrier inert to ionizing radiation from the radionuclide. However, certain phenomena such as enhanced nanoparticle luminescence and generation of reactive oxygen species cannot be explained by only Cerenkov luminescence interactions with nanoparticles. Herein, we report methods to examine the mechanisms of nanoparticle excitation by radionuclides, including interactions with Cerenkov luminescence, β particles, and γ radiation. We demonstrate that β scintillation contributes appreciably to excitation and reactivity in certain nanoparticle systems and that excitation of nanoparticles composed of large atomic number atoms by radionuclides generates X-rays, enabling multiplexed imaging through single photon emission computed tomography. These findings demonstrate practical optical imaging and therapy using radionuclides with emission energies below the Cerenkov threshold, thereby expanding the list of applicable radionuclides

    A comparative study of depression in elderly men and women following major fractures

    Background: Depression accounts for approximately 8.2% of people living with disability worldwide. Depression and fractures are a common occurrence especially elderly who are predisposed to fractures due to low bone mineral density. Clinical Depression is linked to high cortisol levels and low mineral density. As most studies correlating fractures in the elderly and its association with depression have been done in the western countries, we felt the need to pursue a study to compare fractures in elderly men and women and its association with depression in the Indian population. Methods: This was a prospective study done over two years with continuous sampling method. The study included 90 inpatients (51males and 39females) with fractures of long bone and hip needing prolonged rehabilitation.  Patients above 65 years of age admitted with fractures of long bones and hip were examined using Beck’s depression inventory. The data was tabulated and compared between males and females. Results: We found 58.96% of females suffered from some form of depression as opposed to 39.21% of males. We found statistically significant association between depression and female suffering from major fractures.&nbsp
