In the field of computer network and security, cryptography plays a vital role for secure data transmission as it follows the principle of data confidentiality, integrity, non-repudiation, authentication. By using several cryptographic algorithms, a user can deliver and receive the message in more convenient way. In this paper, we have collaborated on various cryptographic algorithms, several types of cryptographic techniques along with different types of security attacks prevailing in case of cryptography. During the exchanging of any sort of information, the key generation, encryption and decryption processes are examined in more details in the current paper. We have discussed regarding RSA (Ron Rives, Adi Shamir and Len Adelman), which is one of the most secure algorithm in the context of data and information sharing, that has been analysed clearly in our work along with the basic concepts of DES(Data Encryption Standard) , conventional encryption model, ECC(Elliptic curve cryptography), Digital signature, ABE(Attribute based Encryption), KP-ABE(Key policy Attribute based encryption), CP-ABE(Ciphertext policy attribute based encryption), IBE(Identity based Encryption). We have elaborated various cryptograhic concepts for keeping the message confidential and secure while considering secured data communication in case of networks

A Comprehensive Study on Security in Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs)

Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs) are an important component of today\u27s ubiquitous and pervasive computing. Without WSNs, the applications aren\u27t as clever as they could be. Almost every scenario involving WSNs necessitates a quick and precise localization process. Existing frameworks and algorithms, on the other hand suffer from a significant disadvantage when it comes to beacon node trust, which is a critical component in Wireless Sensor Network. For localization this has to be ensured.. This issue is addressed in our current solution. In the harsh environment of WSN operations, malicious nodes are inescapable. As a consequence, A technique has been proposed to find out the problem while simultaneously offering a safe trust based localization system. It focuses on the algorithm for assessing trust and the creation of blockchains. Every beacon node’s truth value(trust value) are determined using various trust criteria with the corresponding weights being dynamically changed during localization process. After that the most reliable beacon nodes are chosen for mining. This two-step process ensures that the blockchain is kept up to current, and that beacon nodes have consistent Tvalues(Trust values). We conducted a series of simulations to test the suggested algorithm’s performance and effectiveness. The accuracy of localization, harmful activity detection, the confusion matrixes are used to compare results

Continuum of care for HIV-positive women accessing programs to prevent parent-to-child transmission: Findings from India

    Get PDF
This study examined the efforts of PPTCT programs in different cities in India to offer women a continuum of care, and shows that the programs have both strengths and shortcomings. The government launched a national treatment program that offers antiretroviral therapy (ART) to HIV-positive women, children below 15 years of age, and men. However, since the start-up of the ART program there have been concerns about limited access to and utilization of these services by women and children. To address these shortcomings, the PPTCT programs studied should strengthen their referral systems to public and private treatment and family planning services, better equip PPTCT providers to inform and counsel women about these topics, and engage NGOs in the community that have outreach services to maintain contact with women over time and link them and their families to a continuum of care

Introduction: Obesity, emerging as a worldwide health burden having potential risk for development of atherosclerosis, diabetes, coagulopathy, arthritis and metabolic syndrome. Obesity is classified in terms of various anthropometric modalities like Body Mass Index (BMI), Waist Circumference (WC) and Waist Hip Ratio (WHR) etc. Adipocyte secretes adiponectin that has an important role in energy homeostasis and lipid metabolism. Adiponectin level reduces in obesity and its deficiency results in higher incidence of insulin resistance. Adiponectin has insulin sensitising, antiatherogenic and anti inflammatory properties. Aim: To compare the level of serum adiponectin, fasting plasma insulin and Homeostatic Model Assessment for Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR) in healthy obese individuals with healthy non obese controls and also to find out the correlation of serum adiponectin with fasting plasma insulin level and HOMA-IR in healthy obese cases. Materials and Methods: This case-control study was conducted in Department of Biochemistry, MKCG MCH, Berhampur, Odisha, India, during the period of October 2019 to October 2020 which included 86 subjects. Of which 43 were healthy obese individuals and 43 were age and sex matched healthy non obese volunteers, in the age group of 20-45 years were taken as controls. About 4 mL of whole blood was collected to measure fasting plasma glucose, fasting plasma insulin and serum adiponectin. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 16.0 was used to do the statistical analysis and for correlation Pearson correlation test was done. Results: In present study, maximum cases and controls were within the range of 20-35 years. Out of 43 cases, 25 were males and 18 were females and out of 43 controls, 27 were males and 16 were females. Insulin resistance and Fasting Plasma Glucose were significantly higher in healthy obese cases as compared to controls. Serum adiponectin in cases (2.35±0.77) was found to be significantly lower than controls (8.10±2.98). Present study found statistically significant negative correlation of serum adiponectin with fasting plasma insulin (r=-0.918, p<0.001) and HOMA-IR (r=-0.934, p<0.001). Conclusion: Negative correlation of adiponectin and positive correlation of insulin resistance in obesity suggest inflammation which may lead to development of metabolic syndrome. So adiponectin is a target for future research to reduce morbidity and mortality in relation to obesity

Intergenerational communication on sexuality and HIV/AIDS: Exploring feasibility of building effective youth-adult partnerships to reduce young people\u27s HIV vulnerabilities

    Get PDF
In India, over one-third of all reported AIDS cases occur among people aged 15–24 years. Young people need competencies to navigate daily-life situations and engage in productive activities, and the relationships they form with adults and peers are the source of support and guidance critical to the development of their competencies. The peer-based approach is integral to sexual health and HIV-prevention programs for youth. However, in some settings, program and policy directions have been hampered by adult beliefs of what young people should be permitted to know. Recent projects show that working on changing the norms and beliefs of adults in the community facilitates work with youth. However, program strategies remain ad-hoc possibly because of a lack of a clear and agreed-upon set of conditions to suggest the need for, as well as inform the design and implementation of, an intergenerational approach. This brief presents findings from a study that addresses this gap by documenting existing patterns of, and barriers to, intergenerational communication on sexuality and HIV/AIDS. It also provides information for designing interventions that promote effective youth-adult partnerships to address HIV risk

Identifying areas for linkages between HIV and SRH for vulnerable populations: An exploratory study to assess female sex workers\u27 sexual and reproductive health needs

Sexual and reproductive ill-health and HIV/AIDS share root causes, including poverty, gender inequality, and social marginalization of the most vulnerable populations. This has prompted the international community to call for policy and program approaches to strengthen the linkages between SRH and HIV/AIDS programs. However, most integration efforts have given priority to family planning, maternal and child health, and STI treatment and to addressing the needs of married women from the general population. Female sex workers have been targeted for HIV prevention efforts but little attention has been given to SRH-related care. To bring sex workers into the focus for SRH-HIV convergence, it is important to understand their SRH needs, explore approaches that can be adopted by existing HIV programs, and examine if current services can be geared to provide these services. The Population Council, in collaboration with CARE-India, conducted an exploratory research study to understand sex workers\u27 SRH needs and health-seeking behaviors to suggest areas and strategies for linkages with HIV. This brief focuses on findings from interviews and surveys with sex workers completed for this cross-sectional study

Comparative Genomic Analysis of 31 Phytophthora Genomes Reveals Genome Plasticity and Horizontal Gene Transfer

Phytophthora species are oomycete plant pathogens that cause great economic and ecological impacts. The Phytophthora genus includes over 180 known species, infecting a wide range of plant hosts, including crops, trees, and ornamentals. We sequenced the genomes of 31 individual Phytophthora species and 24 individual transcriptomes to study genetic relationships across the genus. De novo genome assemblies revealed variation in genome sizes, numbers of predicted genes, and in repetitive element content across the Phytophthora genus. A genus-wide comparison evaluated orthologous groups of genes. Predicted effector gene counts varied across Phytophthora species by effector family, genome size, and plant host range. Predicted numbers of apoplastic effectors increased as the host range of Phytophthora species increased. Predicted numbers of cytoplasmic effectors also increased with host range but leveled off or decreased in Phytophthora species that have enormous host ranges. With extensive sequencing across the Phytophthora genus, we now have the genomic resources to evaluate horizontal gene transfer events across the oomycetes. Using a machine-learning approach to identify horizontally transferred genes with bacterial or fungal origin, we identified 44 candidates over 36 Phytophthora species genomes. Phylogenetic reconstruction indicates that the transfers of most of these 44 candidates happened in parallel to major advances in the evolution of the oomycetes and Phytophthora spp. We conclude that the 31 genomes presented here are essential for investigating genus-wide genomic associations in genus Phytophthora. Basically, it is hard for endeavors to recognize plant leaf images by a layman due to the varieties in some plant leaves and the extensive information collected for investigation. It is hard to build an automated recognition framework that can handle massive data and give an intermediate analysis. Image examination and order and pattern recognition are some issues that are effectively connected to the existing methods. This paper focuses on designing an automated plant recognition system based on the best recognition algorithm and the Google platform to locate all plant locations on a map. A case study of India, which has huge biodiversity, is illustrated. The proposed system can show the detailed location of that particular species, where they can be found, and the shortest distance from the current location
