State Space Modeling of Smart PV Inverter as STATCOM (PV-STATCOM) for Voltage Control in a Distribution System

    Get PDF
The grid integration of photovoltaic (PV) systems in distribution networks is facing challenges such as transient changes in voltage due to fluctuations in generated real power and tripping of PV systems. Smart PV inverters with functions such as dynamic reactive current injection and low voltage ride through are available to mitigate these challenges. This thesis shows that a better stable performance can be obtained if these functions are implemented using the novel patent-pending technology of PV system as a dynamic reactive power compensator (PV-STATCOM). A linearized state space model of PV-STATCOM is developed to show the benefits of PV-STATCOM controls over Smart PV inverter controls in the presence of control system interaction between dc-link voltage and point of common coupling voltage controllers. These benefits are further substantiated by comparing the performance of PV-STATCOM and Smart PV inverter to perform voltage control during system disturbances simulated by irradiance changes and faults

Engineers who are faculty members in engineering colleges now-a-days require not only adequate technological ability and problem solving skills, but also the necessary skills live active co-operation, effective communication and presentation, along with business ethics and inter-personal relationship. At present, engineering colleges have in common an additional responsibility properly provide excellent opportunities to every engineering student to properly utilize the technological knowledge. The study was conducted with the help of a well structured, close-ended questionnaire. The respondents were selected on the basis of stratified random sampling method form the four southern districts of Tamil Nadu at the rate of 140 per district totaling 560 sampling respondents. All the respondents are faculty members from selected engineering colleges in these four districts. The study concluded that university libraries have adopted all the new information and communication technologies (ICT) and electronic resources and they are efficiently used by the academic faculties. Most of the engineering colleges are provided with the advanced technologies in the departments so as to make effective teaching and research usage. The government has now, taken initiative to undergo several steps to improve the digital library infrastructure

AdS (In)stability: Lessons From The Scalar Field

    Get PDF
We argued in arXiv:1408.0624 that the quartic scalar field in AdS has features that could be instructive for answering the gravitational stability question of AdS. Indeed, the conserved charges identified there have recently been observed in the full gravity theory as well. In this paper, we continue our investigation of the scalar field in AdS and provide evidence that in the Two-Time Formalism (TTF), even for initial conditions that are far from quasi-periodicity, the energy in the higher modes at late times is exponentially suppressed in the mode number. Based on this and some related observations, we argue that there is no thermalization in the scalar TTF model within time-scales that go as ∼1/ϵ2\sim 1/\epsilon^2, where ϵ\epsilon measures the initial amplitude (with only low-lying modes excited). It is tempting to speculate that the result holds also for AdS collapse.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figure

This paper discusses job satisfaction among library professionals in engineering colleges in South Tamil Nadu. Job satisfaction is a personal feeling which could cause by a variety of factors. The questionnaire method was used for data collection, and results were tabulated, and statistical technique such as Weighted Arithmetic Mean (WAM) was used for the analysis. The 235 questionnaires were distributed among the library professionals are working \u27Engineering & Technology colleges in South Tamil Nadu. Among the 235, 210(89.36%) library and information science professionals were responded. The impact of ICT on Job satisfaction among the Library and information science professionals has given priority to \u27Helped to keep me up-to-date. \u27Increased my job satisfaction and \u27provided more interesting and more variety in my work\u27 are the purposes to visit the library and the second and third preference respectively given for them by the professionals

The focus of the present study is to analyse the reading habit and literacy attitude of the college students who use the Tirunelveli district central library. The present study tries analyse how the reading habits has an impact upon the literacy attitude of the college students who use the library. In order to analyse the impact of the library, the resources, facilities, infrastructures and staff service of the library has been taken as a factor and how they impact the reading habit and library usage of the respondents has been analysed and how does it positively impact the literacy attitude of the respondents is the focus of the study. The college students who use the Tirunelveli district central library form the respondents of the present research and 407 respondents have been selected for the present study. The data has been analysed using confirmatory factor analysis and the findings and suggestions are provided

This paper studied about the Preferred Strategies and Use of Electronic Information Resources among the Academic Community in Manonmaniam Sundaranar University Tirunelveli, which includes the Faculty Members, Research scholars and P G Students. Now days the academic libraries are having more varieties in the form electronics resources. The collection consists of open–access journals, electronic theses and dissertations, audio files and transcripts, maps, newspapers, photographs, manuscripts and rare books, and historical materials. These objects are the vital resource for members of the academic community.. In this study, totally 600 questionnaires were distributed to the respondents among the respondents in Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. Out of 600, 534 questionnaires were returned by the respondents. It resulted that the Preferred Search Strategies to Use the E-Resources that the respondents have given first priority to the e-resources through ‘Advanced Search’. ‘Simple Search’ and ‘Boolean Search’ stated as the second and third preference respectively given by the respondents
