Increasing prevalence of the respiratory diseases are reporting both in developed and developing countries. On comparing the symptoms of “Swasakasam” it can be correlated to “Bronchial asthma” in modern science.40 patients (20-out patients and 20-in patients) were selected for the study conducted in GSMC& H, Palayamkottai.Trial medicine Jaathipalathi Chooranam 30 mg/ kg /BW thrice a day, after food along with honey for 30 days was administrated for entire study period. Jaathipalathi Chooranam has the reference from Sarabendhra Vaithiya Muraikal-Kasa Swasa Roga Sikicha, Vasudevasasthri, and Venkadarajan,2006. Trial medicine was subjected to various pre-clinical studies like bio- chemical, phytochemical, pharmacological and microbiological analysis. Safety profile of the trial drug was evaluated and no morbidity and mortality was noted in experimental analysis. The biochemistry analysis showed, the presence of Calcium, Starch, Ferrous iron, Tannic acid Unsaturated compound, Reducing sugar and aminoacid. The alkaloids, Carbohydrates, Glycosides, Phytosterols, Flavonoids, Tannin, Protien and Lignin were observed in Phytochemical analysis. Invivo and Invitro studies are showed the better results in Antihistaminic and Anti anaphylactic, Antiinflammotary and Bronchodilator activity. The trial medicine was found to have high sensitivity in Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus mutans, Bacillus subtilis, Klebsiella pneumoniae and E.coli organism. At the end of the study majority of the cases were analysed with fixed clinical criterias and showed good clinical improvement. All the relevant reports were statistically analysed and found to be significant

CARDIOPROTECTIVE EFFICACY OF NELUMBO NUCIFERA LEAF EXTRACT ON GLYCOPROTEIN, MEMBRANE BOUND ATPASE AND LYSOSOMAL ENZYMES AGAINST ISOPROTERENOL INDUCED CARDIOTOXICITY IN WISTAR RATS

Objective: Nelumbo nucifera, an Indian Ayurvedic herbal medicine, which provides significant protection against myocardial infarction and hypertension. However, there is lack of information regarding the effect of NNE on the cardiac changes associated with isoproterenol (ISO)-induced myocardial infarction (MI) This study aimed to evaluate the combined preventive effects of NNE on glycoprotein, membrane bound ATPases and lysosomal enzymes in isoproterenol induced myocardial infarcted rats. Methods: Male rats were pretreated with Nelumbo nucifera leaf extract (NNE) (400 mg/kg) orally daily for 21 days. After pretreatment, rats were induced myocardial infarction by isoproterenol (100 mg/kg) at an interval of 24 h for 2 days to induce myocardial infarction. Results: Isoproterenol treated rats showed decreased levels of heart creatine kinase and lactate dehydrogenase. The activity of sodium potassium adenosine triphosphatase was decreased and the activities of magnesium adenosine triphosphatase and calcium adenosine triphosphatase were increased in isoproterenol treated rats. Also, the activities of β-glucuronidase, β-N-acetylglucosaminidase, β-galactosidase, cathepsin-B and D were increased (serum and heart), but the activities of β-glucuronidase and cathepsin-D were decreased in lysosomal fraction and increased in cytosolic fraction of the heart in isoproterenol treated rats. Pretreatment with NNE to isoproterenol treated rats normalized all the biochemical parameters studied. Conclusion: The observed effects are due to their membrane stabilizing property and this property might be due to decreased lipid peroxidation

Fundamental and HOM Coupler Design of the Superconducting Parallel-Bar Cavities

The superconducting parallel-bar cavity [1] is currently being considered as a deflecting system for the Jefferson Lab 12 GeV upgrade and as a crabbing cavity for a possible LHC luminosity upgrade. Currently the designs are optimized to achieve lower surface fields within the dimensional constraints for the above applications. A detailed analysis of the fundamental input power coupler design for the parallel-bar cavity is performed considering beam loading and the effects of microphonics. For higher beam loading the damping of the HOMs is vital to reduce beam instabilities generated due to the wake fields. An analysis of threshold impedances for each application and impedances of the modes that requires damping are presented in this paper with the design of HOM couplers

The superconducting parallel-bar cavity [1] is a deflecting/crabbing cavity with attractive properties, compared to other conventional designs, that is being considered for a number of applications. Multipacting can be a limiting factor to the performance of in any superconducting structure. In the parallel-bar cavity the main contribution to the deflection is due to the transverse deflecting voltage, between the parallel bars, making the design potentially prone to multipacting. This paper presents the results of analytical calculations and numerical simulations of multipacting in the parallel-bar cavity with resonant voltage, impact energies and corresponding particle trajectories
