Unimpaired phase-sensitive amplification by vector four-wave mixing near the zero-dispersion frequency.
Phase-sensitive amplification (PSA), which is produced by degenerate four-wave mixing (FWM) in a randomly-birefringent fiber, has the potential to improve the performance of optical communication systems. Scalar FWM, which is driven by parallel pumps, is impaired by the generation of pump-pump and pump-signal harmonics, which limit the level, and modify the phase sensitivity, of the signal gain. In contrast, vector FWM, which is driven by perpendicular pumps, is not impaired by the generation of harmonics. Vector FWM produces PSA with the classical properties of a one-mode squeezing transformation
Quadrature demultiplexing using a degenerate vector parametric amplifier
We report on quadrature demultiplexing of a quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK) signal into two cross-polarized binary phase-shift keying (BPSK) signals with negligible penalty at bit-error rate (BER) equal to 10â9. The all-optical quadrature demultiplexing is achieved using a degenerate vector parametric amplifier operating in phase-insensitive mode. We also propose and demonstrate the use of a novel and simple phase-locked loop (PLL) scheme based on detecting the envelope of one of the signals after demultiplexing in order to achieve stable quadrature decomposition

Parametric Channelized Receiver for Single-Step Spectral Analysis
We present new parametric channelized receiver for instantaneous RF spectrum characterization. Single resonant cavity filter combined with parametric wavelength multicasting achieved simultaneous channelization of 10GHz signal with 1GHz resolution and extinction ratio >;20dB
160-Gb/s optical time division multiplexing and multicasting in parametric amplifiers
We report the generation of an optical time division multiplexed single data channel at 160 Gb/s using a one-pump fiber-optic parametric amplifier, and its subsequent multicasting. A two-pump fiber optic parametric amplifier was used to perform all-optical multicasting of 160 Gb/s channel to four data streams. New processing scheme combined the increase in signal extinction ratio and low-impairment multicasting using continuous-wave parametric pumps. Selective conjugation of 160 Gb/s was demonstrated for the first time
