Poloidal inhomogeneity of the particle fluctuation induced fluxes near of the LCFS at lower hybrid heating and improved confinement transition at the FT-2 tokamak
This paper deals with the new spectral and microturbulence experimental data
and their analysis, which show, that the radial electric field Er generated at
the LH heating (LHH) in the FT-2 is high enough to form the transport barriers.
The ETB is formed when LHH is switched off. The radial fluctuation-induced
EB drift flux densities near LCFS in SOL are measured at two different
poloidal angles. For this purpose two Langmuir probes located at low and high
field sides of the torus are used. Registration of the poloidal and radial
components of the electric field and density fluctuations at the same time
during one discharge permits to measure the poloidal asymmetry of the transport
reduction mechanism of the radial and poloidal particle fluxes in the SOL. The
absolute E(~) fluctuation levels show dependence on the sign of Er
shear. The modification of the microscale turbulence by the poloidal Er x B
rotation shear EB at the L - H transition near LCFS is also
studied by X-mode fluctuation Reflectometry. The new data were obtained by
spatial spectroscopic technique.Comment: 12th International Congress on Plasma Physics, 25-29 October 2004,

Carboniferous and Permian Rugosochonetidae (Brachiopoda) from West Spitsbergen
The rugosochonetid brachiopod species Lissochonetes geinitzianus from the Kazimovian of the Nordenskioldbreen Formation, and Dyoros (Dyoros) mucronata sp. nov., Dyoros (Dyoros) spitzbergianus and Lissochonetes superba from the Artinskian to latest Permian Kapp Starostin Formation in West Spitsbergen are described and figured. Dyoros is generally restricted to the Boreal Realm, whereas Lissochonetes is mostly distributed in the Boreal Realm, but occasionally present in the Palaeoequatorial and Gondwanan Realms<br /

Antarctic Peninsula sea levels: A real-time system for monitoring Drake Passage transport
Sub-surface pressure (SSP) data from tide gauges at three bases on the Pacific coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, together with SSP information from a bottom pressure recorder deployed on the south side of the Drake Passage, have been used to study the relationships between SSP, Drake Passage transport, and the strength of Southern Ocean zonal winds as represented by the Southern Annular Mode. High correlations were obtained between all parameters, confirming results obtained previously with independent data sets, and demonstrating the value of information from the permanent Rothera base, the southern-most site considered. These are important findings with regard to the design, installation and maintenance of observation networks in Antarctica. In particular, they provide the necessary justification for Antarctic Peninsula tide gauge infrastructure investment in the lead up to International Polar Year. Data delivery from Rothera and Vernadsky is currently being improved and should soon enable the first near real-time system for monitoring Drake Passage transport variability on intraseasonal timescales, an essential component of a Southern Ocean Observing System
decay of excited states in C
Measurements of the C(C,C[Be + α]) breakup reaction have been made at a beam energy of 98.2 MeV. The studies were performed with two charged-particle telescopes that permitted the energy, mass, charge, and emission angle of each detected particle to be determined. A series of C excited states at energies of 14.3, 14.8 15.6, 16.4, 17.3, 18.6, 19.8, 20.6, and 21.6 MeV was observed to decay to either the Be ground state or the first excited states. Angular correlation measurements suggest an assignment of J = 3 for the 15.6 MeV state
