Liquid-Phase Packaging of a Glucose Oxidase Solution with Parylene Direct Encapsulation and an Ultraviolet Curing Adhesive Cover for Glucose Sensors

We have developed a package for disposable glucose sensor chips using Parylene encapsulation of a glucose oxidase solution in the liquid phase and a cover structure made of an ultraviolet (UV) curable adhesive. Parylene was directly deposited onto a small volume (1 μL) of glucose oxidase solution through chemical vapor deposition. The cover and reaction chamber were constructed on Parylene film using a UV-curable adhesive and photolithography. The package was processed at room temperature to avoid denaturation of the glucose oxidase. The glucose oxidase solution was encapsulated and unsealed. Glucose sensing was demonstrated using standard amperometric detection at glucose concentrations between 0.1 and 100 mM, which covers the glucose concentration range of diabetic patients. Our proposed Parylene encapsulation and UV-adhesive cover form a liquid phase glucose-oxidase package that has the advantages of room temperature processing and direct liquid encapsulation of a small volume solution without use of conventional solidifying chemicals

Emulation of interface stiffness for full scale tests on wind turbine blade bearings

Typical damage modes of rotor blade bearings are mainly related to oscillating movements with small angles under high loads. Under these conditions, the lubrication film between rollers and raceways of the bearings tends to collapse, which causes metal to metal contact and surface induced damage. Since established calculation methods for lifetime prediction are unsuitable for wind turbine blade bearings, full-scale test rigs are developed to close this particular knowledge gap. To generate realistic boundary conditions for bearing tests, the stiffness of the interfaces such as blade and hub have to be investigated. Because of the disadvantages of using real components within these test rigs, a possible solution is to use substitute components which aim to emulate the interface behaviour of the real components. This paper presents a method to derive a substitute of a rotor hub based on a FE-model of the virtual IWT7.5-164 research turbine. The results indicate that it is feasible to match the interface stiffness of the considered rotor hub with a corresponding substitute with only minor limitations

Die Anmeldung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Prüfen von Großlagern (2, 2', 2") für Windenergieanlagen. Bei dem vorgeschlagenen Verfahren wird ein Prüfstand (7) bereitgestellt. Der Prüfstand (7) umfasst eine Lasteinleitungseinheit (8) und zumindest einen Antrieb (12). Außerdem wird eine Lageranordnung (6) mit mindestens zwei hintereinander angeordneten zu prüfenden Großlagern (2, 2', 2") bereitgestellt. Die Großlager (2, 2', 2") weisen jeweils zwei relativ zueinander drehbare Lagerringe (3, 4) auf. Einer der Lagerringe (3, 4) jedes der Großlager (2, 2', 2") ist über ein Verbindungsstück (5) starr mit einem der Lagerringe (3, 4) eines benachbarten Großlagers (2, 2', 2") verbunden. In einem weiteren Schritt wird die Lageranordnung (6) mit dem Antrieb (12) derart verbunden, dass eine Drehbewegung zumindest eines Verbindungsstücks (5, 5') gemeinsam mit den mit dem Verbindungsstück (5, 5') starr verbundenden Lagerringen (3, 4) gegenüber den nicht mit dem Verbindungsstück (5, 5') starr verbundenen Lagerringen (3, 4) durch den Antrieb (12) antreibbar ist. Außerdem wird die Lageranordnung (6) mit der Lasteinleitungseinheit (8) verbunden. In einem weiteren Schritt werden das Verbindungsstück (5, 5') und die damit starr verbundenen Lagerringe (3, 4) durch den Antrieb (12) angetrieben. Des Weiteren wird eine Kraft in die Lageranordnung (6) durch die Lasteinleitungseinheit (8) eingeleitet
