The othersâ voice: Availing other disciplinesâ knowledge about sustainable impact of professional development programmes
This paper deals with the sustainable impact of innovations and professional development programmes. While research on this issue is rather scarce in educational disciplines (and in particular in mathematics teacher education), some other domains like health care or development aid are well grounded in research results regarding this topic. This article gives an insight into the other disciplinesâ knowledge concerning the impact of innovations and professional development programmes and the respective fostering and hindering factors. Moreover, possible implications for (mathematics) teacher education are discussed
pop dangdut cukup luas.
Researching the sustainable impact of professional development programmes
International audienceImpact analyses and evaluations of professional development programmes are mainly scheduled during or at the end of a particular programme. They aim at and provide results regarding immediate and short-term effects. However, apart from and beyond that, an analysis of sustainable effects is crucial. To address this issue, this contribution deals with the central question: What is the sustainable impact of professional development programmes? Theoretical models and empirical findings are introduced. In particular, this contribution provides two case studies' results regarding Austrian professional development programmes' impact. Here, the factors which foster or hinder the sustainability of impact are in the focus. Finally, implications for professional development programmes' implementation and research are discussed

Introduction to the papers of TWG18: Mathematics teacher education and professional development
International audienceThe study of mathematics teacher education and professional development has been a central focus of research over recent decades. Research activities have focused on topics such as reflection, collaboration and teachersâ professional growth. In particular, models and programmes of professional development, as well as their respective content, methods, and impacts have been described and analysed. Research has increasingly focused not only on the participating teachers, but also on the role of teacher educators and academic researchers. So far, the research community has attempted to develop theoretical and methodological frameworks to both describe and explain the complex topic of mathematics teacher education and professional development. The goal of TWG18 was to offer a communicative, collegial and critical forum for the discussion of these and other related issues, which would allow diverse perspectives and theoretical approaches to contribute to the development of our knowledge and understanding as researchers, educators and practitioners
