Vilsmeier-Haack reagent: A facile synthesis of 2-chloro-3-formylquinolines from N-arylacetamides and transformation into different functionalities
1868-1875A simple and regioselective synthesis of
2-chloro-3-formylquinolines through Vilsmeier-Haack cyclisation of
N-arylacetamides has been reported. The cyclisation is facilitated by N-arylacetamides
bearing electron donating groups at m-position.
However, yields of quinolines having electron donating groups are good in all
cases. Further, the nucleophilic substitution reaction of the quinolines is
also investigated. Similarly, the formyl group in the quinolines is subjected
to further transformation into cyano (CAN-NH3) and alkoxycarbonyl
(NIS-K2CO3/alcohols) groups to afford corresponding
3-cyano and 3-alkoxycarbonylquinolines, respectively
BF3·Et2O Catalysed 4-Aryl-3-phenyl-benzopyrones, Pro-SERMs, and Their Characterization
We have synthesized the novel 4-(4-hydroxy-benzyl)-3-phenyl-chromen-2-one which is a precursor of SERMs with a smaller number of steps and good yield. Two methodologies for the synthesis have been worked out. Anhydrous BF3·Et2O catalyzed reaction was found to be selective for product formation while anhydrous AlCl3, FeCl3, and SnCl4 catalyzed ones were nonselective
Ganga: A subtle overview of names and glory in Sanskrit literature and the current scenario
River Ganga is the largest river in India. It represents one of the magnificent geographical features of the country. It would be incorrect to confine it to say only as a water body. Nothing can match its everlasting divinity. It has its roots in Indian culture. As the holy river originates from “Gangotri Gomukh” in the country, it speaks much more about the culture, tradition, way of living of people. Since times immemorial, India has been called as the Land of Lords. It has been said to be brought from heaven and therefore it has been always personified as Goddess Ganga. River Ganga is Mother Ganga by all means. Since history enormous literature has been written from time to time about her greatness. Indian literature is largely enriched with her praise and appreciation. The action–oriented ganga offers a wide knowledge and wisdom to the people besides providing its pious water. As it fertiles the soil along the basin, it nourishes the souls and minds. Educating us in many ways and aspects, it gives us an overview of the structure of society. It teaches us how to lead an ideal life while maintaining a calm attitude. It teaches us to fulfil our responsibilities in our work area. Mother Ganga must be viewed with the spectacles of love, respect, emotions and dedication. Therefore, to structure the education in Indian perspectives the cognitive, affective and psychomotor properties of Holy Ganges can be inherited into the education process or it must be said that we should learn from Mother Ganga to become a balanced and an all-rounder personality
Thiophene-fused quinoline analogues: Facile synthesis of 3-amino-2-cyanothieno [2, 3-b] quinolines from 2-chloro-3-cyanoquinolines
2077-2081Starting from 2-chloro-3-cyanoquinolines and
chloroacetonitrile, a series of 3-amino-2-cyanothieno [2, 3-b] quinoline derivatives have been
prepared and characterized spectroscopically. The validity and presence of
amino group in products are further evaluated from different routes

Triphenyltellurium chloride
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C18H15ClTe, contains two molecules which are in inverted orientations. The compound displays a tetrahedral geometry around the Te atom in spite of there being five electron domains. This is attributed to the fact that the lone pair is not sterically active. The dihedral angles between the three phenyl rings are 76.51 (16)/73.75 (16)/71.06 (17) and 78.60 (17)/77.67 (16)/79.11 (16)° in the two molecules. The crystal packing features eight C—H...π interactions
