    The research was aimed to study the influence of addition of Ca, P, Mg dan S minerals in diet on Ca and P of minerals status of blood plasma and bone compound on the kacang goats. Four dietary treatments were: A. Forage + concentrate (was a control), B. Forage + concentrate + Ca + P, C. Forage + concentrate + Ca + P + Mg and D. Forage + concentrate + Ca + P + S. The forage contains of nature grass· + 1eucaena + gliricidia and the concentrate contains of rice meal, com,. meal coconut The data were statistically ana1ized by using 4 x 5 design. The results showed that minerals addition treatments into the diet were effected significantly (P 0,5) by the Ca of bone compound but significantly (P < 0,01) on P of bone compound

    Growth and Productivity of Brown Midrib Sorghum Mutant Line Patir 3.7 (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) Treated with Different Levels of Nitrogen Fertilizer

    The study aimed to determine the best of nitrogen fertilizer level based on growth and biomass production of brown midrib sorghum mutant line Patir 3.7. This research was conducted at the Field Laboratory in the Faculty of Animal Science, Andalas University, Padang. The experiment was assigned in a completely randomized block design with 4 levels of nitrogen fertilizer application and 3 replications. The treatments consisted of N0= 0 kg N ha-1 as a control; N1= 50 kg N ha-1; N2= 100 kg N ha-1; and N3= 150 kg N ha-1. Agronomic and production variables measured were plant height, stem diameter, leaf width length, leaf stem panicle ratio, stem Brix sugar content, as well as fresh biomass and nutrient production. Analysis of variance followed by Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) was conducted. The results showed that the addition of nitrogen fertilizer produced the highest stem diameter, leaf length, leaf width, leaf ratio, and stem ratio (p&lt;0.05). However, the panicle ratio and stem Brix sugar contents were not significantly affected (p&gt;0.05) by the level of nitrogen fertilizer. The fresh biomass, dry matter, crude protein, ash, NFE, and TDN production increased significantly (p&lt;0.05) with the increased level of nitrogen fertilizer. Based on those findings, it can be concluded that nitrogen fertilizer application at the level of 50 kg N ha-1 produces better growth, fresh biomass, dry matter, and nutrients production

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pertumbuhan dan produksi biomasa beberapa galur sorgum mutan BMR fase pertumbuhan berbeda sebagai pakan hijauan di tanah ultisol pada musim kemarau. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok pola Faktorial (6 x 3) dengan 3 ulangan. Faktor pertama adalah galur sorgum mutan BMR : galur Patir 3.1 (non BMR/kontrol), Patir 3.2, Patir 3.3, Patir 3.5, Patir 3.6 dan Patir 3.7, sedangkan faktor kedua adalah waktu panen : fase berbunga, fase soft dough dan fase hard dough. Parameter yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, lebar dan panjang daun, rasio daun, batang dan malai, produksi boimasa segar, produksi bahan kering. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pertumbuhan galur sorgum mutan BMR secara umum hampir sama dengan galur sorgum mutan non BMR pada musim kemarau, terlihat pada parameter tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, lebar daun, proporsi daun batang malai, kandungan gula batang, produksi segar dan produksi bahan kering yang memberikan pengaruh berbeda tidak nyata. Waktu panen hard dough menghasilkan pertumbuhan tertinggi pada parameter tinggi tanaman, proporsi malai dan produksi BK. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa terjadi penurunan pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman galur sorgum mutan BMR pada musim kemarau

    Nutrient Changes and in Vitro Digestibility in Generative Stage of M10-BMR Sorghum Mutant Lines

    The objective of this research was to investigate the influences of generative stage on crude protein, crude fiber, ash, and crude fat contents as well as in-vitro dry matter and organic matter digestibilities of M-10 BMR sorghum mutant lines. This research was arranged into a randomized block design with 2 factors. The first factor was M-10 BMR sorghum mutant lines (Patir 3.1, Patir 3.2 and Patir 3.7) and the second factor was generative stages (flowering, soft dough and hard dough phase). The observed variables were proximate contents of stem, leaves and panicle of sorghum plant and in-vitro digestibility of whole plant. The results showed that leaves crude protein (CP) was more influenced by M-10 BMR sorghum mutant lines. Stems and panicles CP were influenced by the interaction between M-10 BMR sorghum mutant lines and generative stages. Further generative stage reduced stems CP but increased panicles CP. Crude fiber (CF), ash, and ether extract (EE) in leaves were not influenced by generative stages. Stems CF was influenced by M-10 BMR sorghum mutant lines and generative stages, while stems EE was more influenced by generative stages. Stems ash content was influenced by the interaction between M-10 BMR sorghum mutant lines and generative stages while panicles ash content was more influenced by generative stages. M-10 BMR sorghum mutant lines and hard dough phase increased in-vitro dry matter and organic matter digestibilities. Based on those findings, it can be concluded that the increased maturity reduces CP and CF contents so it increases in-vitro digestibilities

    Efektivitas Pemberian Bakteri Bacillus amyloliquefaciens sebagai Biofertilizer terhadap Pertumbuhan Sorgum Mutan Brown Midrib (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) di Tanah Ultisol

    Sorgum Brown Midrib (BMR) dapat beradaptasi dengan berbagai rentang pH tanah termasuk tanah asam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengobservasi efektivitas pemberian bakteri Bacillus amyloliquefaciens untuk meningkatkan efisiensi pupuk fosfat (P) terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman sorgum mutan BMR hingga fase generatif. Penelitian dilakukan di kebun Laboratorium Percobaan Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Andalas Padang, menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 4 kelompok sebagai ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri dari : P0= Urea + KCl + 0% TSP + B. amyloliquefaciens F; P1= Urea + KCl + 50% TSP + B. amyloliquefaciens; P2= Urea + KCl + 75% TSP + B. amyloliquefaciens; P3= Urea + KCl + 100% TSP (Tanpa B. amyloliquefaciens). Biakan B. amyloliquefaciens berasal dari probiotik Waretha dengan dosis 10 ml / lubang tanam setara dengan 107 cfu/g. Parameter yang diukur yaitu pertambahan tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, panjang dan lebar daun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemberian bakteri B. amyloliquefaciens menunjukkan pengaruh berbeda tidak nyata (P>0,05) terhadap pertambahan tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, panjang dan lebar daun. Pertambahan tinggi tanaman sorgum mutan BMR berlangsung hingga umur 72 HST, sedangkan pertambahan diameter batang, panjang dan lebar daun berhenti pada 58 HST. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa inokulasi B. amyloliquefaciens belum efektif meningkatkan pertumbuhan sorgum mutan BMR di tanah ultisol

    Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengukur respon pemberian pupuk nitrogen pada level berbeda terhadap kandungan fraksi serat pada galur sorgum mutan brown midrib Patir 3.7. Penelitian dilakukan di kebun Laboratorium Lapangan Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Andalas. Penelitian didisain secara eksperimen menggunakan Rancanagan Acak Kelompok dengan 4 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Perlakuan adalah P0= 0 kg N ha-1 (kontrol); P1= 50 kg N ha-1; P2= 100 kg N ha-1; dan P3= 150 kg N ha-1. Parameter yang diukur adalah kandungan ADF, NDF, selulosa, hemiselulosa, lignin dan silika. Pengolahan data menggunakan program software SPSS 20. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penambahan pupuk nitrogen memberikan pengaruh berbeda tidak nyata (p>0,05) terhadap kandngan ADF, selulosa, lignin dan silika, namun memberikan pengaruh nyata (p<0,05) terhadap kandungan NDF dan hemiselulosa. Perlakuan 100 kg N ha-1 dan 150 kg N ha-1 menghasilkan kandungan selulosa dan hemisellulosa paling rendah dengan nilai berturut-turut 49,43%; 51,06% dan 24,57%; 24,89%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan penambahan pupuk nitrogen tidak mempengaruhi kandungan ADF, selulosa, lignin dan silika, tetapi peningkatan level 100 kg N ha-1 dan 150 kg N ha-1 menurunkan kandungan NDF dan hemiselulosa

    Nutrients, Fiber Fraction, and In Vitro Fiber Digestibility of Brown-Midrib Sorghum Mutant Lines Affected by The Maturity Stages

    The mutant line of Brown-midrib sorghum has lower lignin content than conventional sorghum. The objectives of this research were to investigate the effects of plant maturity stages at harvest times on nutrient, fiber fraction, tannin content, volatile fatty acids (VFA) production, and in vitro fiber digestibility of mutant lines of Brown Midrib (BMR) sorghum. This research was arranged into a complete block design with a factorial arrangement in three replications. The first factor was a line of BMR sorghum consisted of 3 levels, i.e., Patir 3.1 (non-BMR line/control), Patir 3.2 (BMR line), and Patir 3.7 (BMR line). The second factor was the generative stages of sorghum consisted of 3 levels, i.e., flowering stage, soft-dough stage, and hard-dough stage. The observed variables were nutrient, fiber fraction, tannin content, in vitro rumen fluid characteristics, VFA proportion, acetate: propionate (A:P) ratio, and in vitro fiber-fraction digestibility (IVFFD). Data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT). No interaction between sorghum-mutant lines and harvest time on nutrient contents, except on total digestible nutrients (TDN), tannin, and VFA. The factor of sorghum-mutant line affected (p&lt;0.01) crude protein (CP), crude fiber (CF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), lignin, neutral detergent fiber digestibility (NDFD), NH3, butyrate, isovalerate, and valerate. Maturity stages affected dry matter (DM), CF, ash, crude fat, fiber, and fraction, except hemicellulose, acid detergent fiber digestibility (ADFD), and NDFD, NH3, isovalerate, and valerate. Patir 3.7 at the hard-dough stage produced the highest TDN, but the highest VFA was produced by Patir 3.1 at flowering stages. BMR sorghum-mutant lines produced higher ADF digestibility than non-BMR sorghum-mutant lines. The increasing NDF digestibility was significantly influenced by both sorghum-mutant lines and maturity stages (p&lt;0.01). It is concluded that BMR sorghum-mutant lines at the hard-dough stage produce better nutrient and in vitro digestibility, but the butyric acid is higher in non-BMR sorghum-mutant lines
