Introduction Management of fracture of elderly intertrochanter femur is still challenge. Poor bone quality, difficult anatomical reduction due to severe comminutive fracture, inadequate stability of internal fixation and comorbidity cause unsatisfactory clinicoradiological outcome after internal fixation. Recently, hemiarthroplasty is used for alternative treatment to reach the best clinical and functional outcome. Methods Fivety patient of fracture of unstable intertrochanter femur in elderly who have performed internal fixation or hemiarthroplasty is studied to evaluate postoperative clinical outcome. Functional status of hip joint is evaluated using Haris Hip Score and to evaluate quality of live using Health Related Quality of Live Short Form 36. Result and Discussion Fracture of unstable intertrochanter femur in elderly who has performed internal fixation was 28 (56 %) of cases, consist of 7 males and 21 females with mean of age 71.1 (60 - 85) years old, meanwhile patient who has performed hemiarthroplasty was 22 (44 %) of cases, consist of 10 males and 12 females with mean of age 76.4 (65 - 87) years old. The patients had mean of HHS 76.1 after internal fixation treatment and mean of HHS after hemiarthroplasty treatment was 80.5. The outcome of functional status of hip joint after hemiarthroplasty is better significantly (p=0.015) and the quality of live between both treatment have no difference. Fracture of intertrochanter femur in elderly which has performed hemiarthroplasty gave satisfactory clinical outcome

The study objective is to perform comparative analysis of the effectiveness of enucleation, enucleoresection, and resection in renal sinus tumors.Materials and methods. Examination and treatment of 55 patients aged 28–74 years with intrasinous neoplasms of the kidneys of T1–T3 stage was carried out to perform a comparative analysis of the various operations effectiveness: 28 patients underwent organ-preserving operations (enucleation and enucleoresection), 27 – resection. Both groups were statistically comparable by sex, age, location, tumor volume. The most frequent histological variant of the tumor for any type of operation was clear-cell carcinoma (73 %).Results and conclusion. It is established that organ-preserving operations, unlike resection, involve a significantly shorter time of thermal ischemia, allowing the operation to be performed under conditions of zero-ischemia. This was accompanied by an improvement in treatment outcomes, a significant regression in the number of intraoperative and postoperative complications

An adaptive mesh method for phase-field simulation of alloy solidification in three dimensions

We present our computational method for binary alloy solidification which takes advantage of high performance computing where up to 1024 cores are employed. Much of the simulation at a sufficiently fine resolution is possible on a modern 12 core PC and the 1024 core simulation is only necessary for very mature dendrite and convergence testing where high resolution puts extreme demands on memory. In outline, the method uses implicit time stepping in conjunction with an iterative solver, adaptive meshing and a scheme for dividing the work load across processors. We include three dimensional results for a Lewis number of 100 and a snapshot for a mature dendrite for a Lewis number of 40
