    Type-II super-Backlund transformation and integrable defects for the N=1 super sinh-Gordon model

    A new super-Backlund transformation for the N=1 supersymmetric sinh-Gordon equation is constructed. Based on this construction we propose a type-II integrable defect for the supersymmetric sinh-Gordon model consistent with this new transformation through the Lagrangian formalism. Explicit expressions for the modified conserved energy, momentum and supercharges are also computed. In addition, we show for the model that the type-II defect can also been regarded as a pair of fused defects of a previously introduced type. The explicit derivation of the associated defect matrices is also presented as a necessary condition for the integrability of the model.Comment: Latex 31 pages. Version accepted for publicatio

    The Lax pair formalism is considered to discuss the integrability of the N=1 supersymmetric sinh-Gordon model with a defect. We derive associated defect matrix for the model and construct the generating functions of the modified conserved quantities.     Defects in the supersymmetric mKdV hierarchy via Backlund transformations

    The integrability of the N=1{\cal N}=1 supersymmetric modified Korteweg de-Vries (smKdV) hierarchy in the presence of defects is investigated through the construction of its super B\"acklund transformation. The construction of such transformation is performed by using essentially two methods: the B\"acklund-defect matrix approach and the superfield approach. Firstly, we employ the defect matrix associated to the hierarchy which turns out to be the same for the supersymmetric sinh-Gordon (sshG) model. The method is general for all flows and as an example we derive explicitly the B\"acklund equations in components for the first few flows of the hierarchy, namely t3t_3 and t5t_5. Secondly, the supersymmetric extension of the B\"acklund transformation in the superspace formalism is constructed for those flows. Finally, this super B\"acklund transformation is employed to introduce type I defects for the supersymmetric mKdV hierarchy. Further integrability aspects by considering modified conserved quantities are derived from the defect matrix.Comment: 40 pages. Some comments and references added.     Effect of the irrigation method and genotype on the bioaccumulation of toxic and trace elements in rice

    The total concentration of three toxic elements (As, Cd and Pb) and five oligoelements (Cu, Mn, Mo, Ni and Se) has been determined using an original and completely validated ICP-MS method. This was applied to rice grains from 26 different genotypes cultivated in the same soil and irrigated with the same water in three different ways: by the traditional continuous flooding (CF) and by two intermittent methods, the sprinkler irrigation (SP) and the periodical saturation of the soil (SA). The adoption of SP hugely minimizes the average amounts of almost all elements in kernels (−98% for As, −90% for Se and Mn, −60% for Mo, −50% for Cd and Pb), with the only exception of Ni, whose concentration increases the average amount found in the CF rice by 7.5 times. Also SA irrigation is able to reduce the amounts of As, Mo and Pb in kernels but it significantly increases the amounts of Mn, Ni and – mainly - Cd. Also the nature of the genotype determined a wide variability of data within each irrigation method. Genotypes belonging to Indica subspecies are the best bioaccumulators of elements in both CF and SP methods and, never, the worst bioaccumulators for any element/irrigation method combination. In the principal component analysis, PC1 can differentiate samples irrigated by SP by those irrigated by CF and SA, whereas PC2 provides differentiation of CF samples by SA samples. When looking at the loading plot Ni is negatively correlated to the majority of the other elements, except Cu and Cd having negative loadings on PC2. These results allow to envisage that a proper combination of the irrigation method and the nature of rice genotype might be a very valuable tool in order to successfully achieve specific objectives of food safety or the attainment of functional properties

    q-Functional Wick's theorems for particles with exotic statistics

    In the paper we begin a description of functional methods of quantum field theory for systems of interacting q-particles. These particles obey exotic statistics and are the q-generalization of the colored particles which appear in many problems of condensed matter physics, magnetism and quantum optics. Motivated by the general ideas of standard field theory we prove the q-functional analogues of Hori's formulation of Wick's theorems for the different ordered q-particle creation and annihilation operators. The formulae have the same formal expressions as fermionic and bosonic ones but differ by a nature of fields. This allows us to derive the perturbation series for the theory and develop analogues of standard quantum field theory constructions in q-functional form.Comment: 15 pages, LaTeX, submitted to J.Phys.

    Excitonic Strings in one dimensional organic compounds

    Important questions concern the existence of excitonic strings in organic compounds and their signatures in the photophysics of these systems. A model in terms of Hard Core Bosons is proposed to study this problem in one dimension. Mainly the cases with two and three particles are studied for finite and infinite lattices, where analytical results are accessible. It is shown that if bi-excitonic states exist, three-excitonic and even, n-excitonic strings, at least in a certain range of parameters, will exist. Moreover, the behaviour of the transitions from one exciton to the biexciton is fully clarified. The results are in agreement with exact finite cluster diagonalizations of several model Hamiltonians.Comment: 36 pages, 4 eps figs. to appear in Phys. Rev.

    Mesoscopic Cooperative Emission From a Disordered System

    We study theoretically the cooperative light emission from a system of N≫1N\gg 1 classical oscillators confined within a volume with spatial scale, LL, much smaller than the radiation wavelength, λ0=2πc/ω0\lambda_0=2\pi c/\omega_0. We assume that the oscillators frequencies are randomly distributed around a central frequency, ω0\omega_0, with some characteristic width, Ω≪ω0\Omega\ll\omega_0. In the absence of disorder, that is Ω=0\Omega=0, the cooperative emission spectrum is composed of a narrow subradiant peak superimposed on a wide superradiant band. When Ω≠0\Omega\neq 0, we demonstrate that if NN is large enough, the subradiant peak is not simply broadened by the disorder but rather splits into a system of random narrow peaks. We estimate the spectral width of these peaks as a function of N,L,ΩN, L, \Omega, and λ0\lambda_0. We also estimate the amplitude of this mesoscopic structure in the emission spectrum.Comment: 25 pages including 6 figure

    Analytical solutions to the third-harmonic generation in trans-polyacetylene: Application of dipole-dipole correlation on the single electron models

    The analytical solutions for the third-harmonic generation (THG) on infinite chains in both Su-Shrieffer-Heeger (SSH) and Takayama-Lin-Liu-Maki (TLM) models of trans-polyacetylene are obtained through the scheme of dipole-dipole (DDDD) correlation. They are not equivalent to the results obtained through static current-current (J0J0J_0J_0) correlation or under polarization operator P^\hat{P}. The van Hove singularity disappears exactly in the analytical forms, showing that the experimentally observed two-photon absorption peak (TPA) in THG may not be directly explained by the single electron models.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures, submitted to Phys.
