On Mixed-Initative Planning and Control for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles
Supervision and control of Autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) has traditionally been focused on an operator determining a priori the sequence of waypoints of a single vehicle for a mission. As AUVs become more ubiquitous as a scientific tool, we envision the need for controlling multiple vehicles which would impose less cognitive burden on the operator with a more abstract form of human-in-the-loop control. Such mixed-initiative methods in goal-oriented commanding are new for the oceanographic domain and we describe the motivations and preliminary experiments with multiple vehicles operating simultaneously in the water, using a shore-based automated planner
EVOLUTION OF LIPOSOMAL CARRIERS INTENDED TO ANTICANCER DRUG DELIVERY: AN OVERVIEW
Most current anticancer agents present lack of specificity, leading to systemic toxicity and adverse effects, and limiting the maximum dose of drug. Liposomes quickly passed from a simple scientific curiosity to magic bullets†for the delivery of drugs. Liposomal formulations of anticancer drugs have been extensively evaluated, with notorious advances and the market introduction of some of them. In the last years the research under liposomes has been carried out to increase the circulation time and the specificity to cancer cells. The aim of this work was to make a review about the research carried out about the application of liposomes as carriers for anticancer drugs. Liposomal formulations of anticancer drugs have been extensively evaluated. However, many other liposome based carriers were studied, like immunoliposomes, thermossensitive liposomes, dual functional liposomes and crosslinked multifunctional liposomes, intended to increase drug specificity. Additionally, some special types of liposomes, like niosomes, transfersomes and ethosomes were also investigated as cytotoxic drug carriers

Impact of COVID-19 on liver disease: From the experimental to the clinic perspective.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has caused a global pandemic unprecedented in over a century. Although severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a predominantly respiratory infection, various degrees of liver function abnormalities have been reported. Pre-existing liver disease in patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection has not been comprehensively evaluated in most studies, but it can critically compromise survival and trigger hepatic decompensation. The collapse of the healthcare services has negatively impacted the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of liver diseases in non-COVID-19 patients. In this review, we aim to discuss the impact of COVID-19 on liver disease from the experimental to the clinic perspective.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the carcass characteristics of Mirandesa breed. To carry out this study, a total of 20 animals of Mirandesa breed were slaughter at 315 days. After 24 hours of slaughter, carcass weight and dressing percentage were determined, and morphometric measurements (carcass length, leg length, leg width, leg perimeter, chest external depth, chest internal depth and leg maximum perimeter) were performed and the following indexes were calculated: carcass compactness index and hindlimb compactness index and the main commercial cuts were obtained. Animals from Mirandesa breed presented a 293.7 kg live weight, a 152 kg carcass weight and a dressing percentage of 60.5 %. Regarding morphometric measurements, animals from Mirandesa breed showed a carcass length of 110 cm, leg length of 69 cm and leg perimeter of 89.8 cm. The values for the carcass compactness index and hindlimb compactness index were 1.4 and 3.7, respectively. Respecting fifth quarter, skin showed the highest percentages following by head and feet. Finally, the percentages of Mirandesa breed’s carcass quartering were 74.9 % for meat, 18.1 % for bone and 7.0 % for fat.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
