Distributed Power-Line Outage Detection Based on Wide Area Measurement System

In modern power grids, the fast and reliable detection of power-line outages is an important functionality, which prevents cascading failures and facilitates an accurate state estimation to monitor the real-time conditions of the grids. However, most of the existing approaches for outage detection suffer from two drawbacks, namely: (i) high computational complexity; and (ii) relying on a centralized means of implementation. The high computational complexity limits the practical usage of outage detection only for the case of single-line or double-line outages. Meanwhile, the centralized means of implementation raises security and privacy issues. Considering these drawbacks, the present paper proposes a distributed framework, which carries out in-network information processing and only shares estimates on boundaries with the neighboring control areas. This novel framework relies on a convex-relaxed formulation of the line outage detection problem and leverages the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) for its distributed solution. The proposed framework invokes a low computational complexity, requiring only linear and simple matrix-vector operations. We also extend this framework to incorporate the sparse property of the measurement matrix and employ the LSQRalgorithm to enable a warm start, which further accelerates the algorithm. Analysis and simulation tests validate the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed approaches

INDIGO: An In Situ Distributed Gossip Framework for Sensor Networks

Abstract—With the onset of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), distributed algorithms on Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs) have been receiving renewed attention. The distributed consensus problem is a well studied problem having a myriad of applications which can be accomplished using asynchronous distributed gossip algorithms on Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN). However, a practical realization of gossip algorithms for WSNs is found lacking in the current state of the art. In this paper, we propose the design, development and analysis of a novel in-situ distributed gossip framework called INDIGO. A key aspect of INDIGO is its ability to execute on a generic system platform as well as on a hardware oriented testbed platform in a seamless manner allowing easy portability of existing algorithms. We evaluate the performance of INDIGO with respect to the distributed consensus problem as well as the distributed optimization problem. We also present a data driven analysis of the effect, certain operating parameters like sleep time and wait time have on the performance of the framework and empirically attempt to determine a sweet spot. The results obtained from various experiments on INDIGO validate its efficacy, reliability and robustness and demonstrate its utility as a framework for the evaluation and implementation of asynchronous distributed algorithms

BACKGROUND: To investigate the mechanisms of lung adenocarcinoma cell metastasis and provide a theoretical basis for the in-depth study of lung adenocarcinoma. METHODS: A549 cells are incubated with different concentrations of Furin inhibitor for indicated times. The proliferation and migration were confirmed with MTT, colony formation, wound Healing and Transwell assayes. Hochest 33342 / PI double staining was used to detect apoptosis. Cell migration and apoptosis associated proteins were analysed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and western blot. RESULTS: We have found that Furin inhibitor play a significant role in inhibition A549 cell growth. And we also found cell migration was inhibited significantly upon Furin inhibitor treatment. CONCLUSION: The proliferration and migration of A549 cell were inhibited by Furin inbitor through down-regulation the expression of migration and apoptosis related proteins

Low compressible noble metal carbides with rock-salt structure: ab initio total energy calculations of the elastic stability

We have systematically studied the mechanical stability of all noble metal carbides with the rock-salt structure by calculating their elastic constants within the density function theory scheme. It was found that only four carbides (RuC, PdC, AgC and PtC) are mechanically stable. In particular, we have shown that RuC, PdC, and PtC have very high bulk modulus, which has been remarkably observed by the most recent experiment for the case of PtC. From the calculated density of states, we can conclude that these compounds are metallic, like the conventional group IV and group V transition metal carbides.Comment: Appl. Phys. Potential super-hard Osmium di-nitride with fluorite structure: First-principles calculations

We have performed systematic first-principles calculations on di-carbide, -nitride, -oxide and -boride of platinum and osmium with the fluorite structure. It is found that only PtN2_{2}, OsN2_{2} and OsO2_{2} are mechanically stable. In particular OsN2_{2} has the highest bulk modulus of 360.7 GPa. Both the band structure and density of states show that the new phase of OsN2_{2} is metallic. The high bulk modulus is owing to the strong covalent bonding between Os 5\textit{d} and N 2\textit{p} states and the dense packed fluorite structure.Comment: Phys. Rev. B 74,125118 (2006

The title compound, C15H18O3, was isolated from Lactarius piperatus (Fr.) S. F. Gary collected from the Kunming area in Yunnan province, China. The central cyclohexyl ring adopts a chair conformation, while the furanone ring is close to planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0174 Å). The remaining methylene cyclohexene ring has a flattened chair conformation. In the crystal, molecules are linked via intermolecular O—H⋯O and C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds into zigzag chains along the a axis
