    The hole sealing technology of solid-liquid materials with three pluggings and two injections for gas extraction hole in the coal mine

    The sealing quality of the gas extraction holes determines the extracted gas concentration. Based on this, the paper reveals the basic principle of hole sealing by analyzing the gas leakage mechanism of the borehole. The hole sealing technology of solid-liquid materials with three pluggings and two injections for the gas extraction hole is proposed, and the hole sealing device and material are developed. Through testing the granularity distribution of the solid material, as well as the surface tension and contact angle of the slurry, the hole sealing material that can meet the requirements of accessible, sticky, and anti-deformation is selected. The sealing material enters microcracks and bonds coal rock more easily. First, the solid material is injected for hole sealing. Second, the liquid material can be injected repeatedly to maintain a high concentration for holes with poor sealing and gas concentration attenuation in the late stage of gas extraction. Field tests show that the gas concentration of solid material is 1.3 times that of the conventional material after 30 days of sealing. The liquid material injected after the concentration decline enables the gas extraction concentration to be recovered at 85 %

    Selectivity of Monaural Synaptic Inputs Underlying Binaural Auditory Information Integration in the Central Nucleus of Inferior Colliculus

    Neurons in the central nucleus of the inferior colliculus (ICC) receive ascending inputs from the ipsilateral and contralateral auditory pathway. However, the contributions of excitatory or inhibitory synaptic inputs evoked by ipsilateral and contralateral stimuli to auditory responses of ICC neurons remain unclear. Using in vivo whole-cell voltage-clamp recordings, we investigated excitatory and inhibitory synaptic currents in neurons of the ICC in response to binaural stimulation by performing an intensity-intensity scan. To systematically analyze the contribution of the ipsilateral and contralateral ear, the sound intensity was randomly delivered to each side from 0 dB sound pressure level (SPL) to 70 dB SPL. Although the synaptic responses were dominated by contralateral inputs at weak sound intensities, they could be increased (or decreased) by additional ipsilateral stimulation at higher intensities. Interestingly, the synaptic responses to contralateral acoustic inputs were not linearly superimposed with the ipsilateral ones. By contrast, the responses showed either a contralateral or ipsilateral profile, depending on which one was more dominant. This change occurred at a certain intensity “switch” point. Thus, the binaural auditory responses of the ICC neurons were not simply mediated by the summation of the inputs evoked by ipsilateral and contralateral stimulations. This suggested that the ICC might inherit the acoustic information integrated at the brainstem, causing the selectivity of monaural excitation and inhibition to underlie the neuronal binaural acoustic response

    Arabidopsis blue light receptor phototropin 1 undergoes blue light-induced activation in membrane microdomains

    Phototropin (phot)-mediated signaling initiated by blue light (BL) plays a critical role in optimizing photosynthetic light capture at the plasma membrane (PM) in plants. However, the mechanisms underlying the regulation of phot activity at the PM in response to BL remain largely unclear. In this study, by single-particle tracking and step-wise photobleaching analysis we demonstrated that in the dark phot1-GFP proteins remain in an inactive state and mostly present as a monomer. The phot1-GFP diffusion rate and its dimerization increased in a dose-dependent manner in response to BL. In contrast, BL did not affect the lateral diffusion of kinase-inactive phot1 -GFP, whereas it did enhance its dimerization, suggesting that phot1 dimerization is independent of its phosphorylation. Förster resonance energy transfer-fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FRET-FLIM) analysis revealed that the interaction between phot1-GFP and AtRem1.3-mCherry was enhanced along with increased time of BL treatment. However, the BL-dependent interaction was not obvious in plants co-expressing phot1 -GFP and AtRem1.3-mCherry, implicating that BL facilitated the translocation of functional phot1-GFP into AtRem1.3-labeled microdomains to activate phot-mediated signaling. Conversely, sterol depletion attenuated phot1-GFP dynamics, dimerization, and phosphorylation. Taken together, these results indicate that membrane microdomains act as an organizing platform essential for proper function of activated phot1 at the PM

    The Chinese pine genome and methylome unveil key features of conifer evolution

    Conifers dominate the world's forest ecosystems and are the most widely planted tree species. Their giant and complex genomes present great challenges for assembling a complete reference genome for evolutionary and genomic studies. We present a 25.4-Gb chromosome-level assembly of Chinese pine (Pinus tabuliformis) and revealed that its genome size is mostly attributable to huge intergenic regions and long introns with high transposable element (TE) content. Large genes with long introns exhibited higher expressions levels. Despite a lack of recent whole-genome duplication, 91.2% of genes were duplicated through dispersed duplication, and expanded gene families are mainly related to stress responses, which may underpin conifers' adaptation, particularly in cold and/or arid conditions. The reproductive regulation network is distinct compared with angiosperms. Slow removal of TEs with high-level methylation may have contributed to genomic expansion. This study provides insights into conifer evolution and resources for advancing research on conifer adaptation and development

    Recent Advances of Photoactive Near-Infrared Carbon Dots in Cancer Photodynamic Therapy

    Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a treatment that employs exogenously produced reactive oxygen species (ROS) to kill cancer cells. ROS are generated from the interaction of excited-state photosensitizers (PSs) or photosensitizing agents with molecular oxygen. Novel PSs with high ROS generation efficiency is essential and highly required for cancer photodynamic therapy. Carbon dots (CDs), the rising star of carbon-based nanomaterial family, have shown great potential in cancer PDT benefiting from their excellent photoactivity, luminescence properties, low price, and biocompatibility. In recent years, photoactive near-infrared CDs (PNCDs) have attracted increasing interest in this field due to their deep therapeutic tissue penetration, superior imaging performance, excellent photoactivity, and photostability. In this review, we review recent progress in the designs, fabrication, and applications of PNCDs in cancer PDT. We also provide insights of future directions in accelerating the clinical progress of PNCDs

    A note on "Cooperative advertising, game theory and manufacturer-retailer supply chains"

    This note extends the results in the manufacturer-dominated game model of the paper by Li et al. (Omega 30 (2002) 347) to the case where the manufacturer's marginal profit is not large enough. In such situations, the profit of the entire supply chain under the co-op advertising mode is higher than the one under the Stackelberg game, which is consistent with the results of the original paper. However, the advertising expenditures of the manufacturer and the retailer under the co-op advertising model are not always larger than those under the Stackelberg game, which is different from the results of the original paper. Furthermore, the results are also compared with the simultaneous move game of the paper by Huang and Li (Eur. J. Oper. Res. 135 (2001) 527). The manufacturer always prefers the leader-follower structure rather than the simultaneous move structure, which is consistent with the results of the original paper.
